Competition TUNED REVOLVERS need a steady diet of FEDERAL primers.(lightened trigger pulls).

I guess everyone's found an alternative to VV N320
moonman16 replied to MissionaryMike's topic in General Reloading
The reason for the VV N320 shortage along with other VV powders was because the French owners had decided to sell the plant and the supply pipeline was completely emptied out (warehouses too). The French were no longer interested in THE SMALL SPORTSMEN MARKET for powders. Eventually the plant was sold to Nammo, (Lapua) parent co. Production restarted and plant improvements were being made. It takes a bit of time to refill a supply chain. Hopefully we're going to be good for a time being but it pays to keep your stocks up because one never knows just what political winds may bring. -
Some of us shoot REVOLVERS "DOUBLE ACTION ONLY" and they have light (TUNED) trigger pull actions. Light pressure to the pull trigger in double action and very smooth. I have a custom built revolver that's that's just great to shoot double action rapid fire. These are NOT for self or home defense, but they could be. My revolver only fires with FEDERAL PRIMERS (they are softer and go off with lighter strikes).

Try the CAST BOOLITS Forum, they have pages upon pages of the different coating processes and results. The whole forum is also chocked full of CASTING INFO.

Dillon 1050: THE Best YouTube Video
moonman16 replied to Phlier's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
I agree with lowering the toolhead to engage the alignment pins BEFORE TIGHTENING the toolhead bolt. I believe the producer of the video just wanted to go fast and smooth in the video. I've heard some first time disassembly requires a real bit of force to loosen the bolt. -
Dillon 1050: THE Best YouTube Video

The Disassembly/Reassembly is very well done, and handy to refer to. -
I have 2 larger clear ANTI-STATIC mats over the carpet I keep a well marked SCRAP POWDER canister and funnel for powder spills on the bench or press, swept up with a brush and a pan. I also have a photogs squeeze dust bulb (forerunner to canned air) to keep everything cleaned up.

80-85% of NEW COST.

I saw the ad in the American Rifleman for American Eagle coated projectiles. More and more folks are jumping onto the COATED PROJECTILE BAND WAGON. I've been using HI-TEK coated for handguns for about 4 years, no complaints.

Installing new clear tube in LNL powder measure

I keep the bottom of mine taped with DUCT TAPE as a safety from coming loose. -
Yeti makes some good comments. ^^^^^^^^^^^ I have been using HI-TEK coated both commercially and self coated for a few years. There was a learning period as the mixture and catalysts have been changed over the years (FOR THE BETTER). I have used various manufacturers but currently have settled on ACME BULLETS. Others in my gun club have started reloading with HI-TEK coated projectiles after I exposed them to them. They like their results with them. I HAVE NO SMELL FROM ACME BULLETS AND I SHOOT INDOORS WEEKLY WITH THEM. (9mm, 38 spec, 45acp)

Major ELECTIONS effect the components supply. Keep your requirements IN STOCK at all times, and a couple years worth if at all possible. You'll sleep better. You mostly have to look online for many things Be vigilant with your searches. .

An inlineFabrication.com "ERGO ROLLER HANDLE" is an improvement. It allows LESS DIPPING of your body on the down stroke. -
Ammobot vs Mark VII Automation platforms?
moonman16 replied to Vanniek71's topic in General Reloading
Somebody just sold their Ammobot and bought a Mark 7. Their reasoning being that you must watch the press closely WITH THE SWITCH IN YOUR HAND, ( stated in their directions), but not in their advertising. to shut down in case of error. The Mark 7's adjustable clutch is lovely he claims.. This is just my opinion on what I've heard, I own neither. -
Properly applied and CURED, HI-TEK will withstand the heat, but UNDER CURED HI-TEK can transfer to your barrel, and that condition just may be close to or PERMANENT. I've used commercial and also self coated HI-TEK for a few years now and turned other club members on to it. Most of us are shooting "ACME BULLETS" presently. Acme seems to have their process UNDER CONTROL and produce a beautiful product, even if it is LIPSTICK RED in color.

Try it tomorrow. I bought some and it wouldn't work so I waited a day and it worked. Maybe it was a fluke but it worked for me. Try ENOS10 in all capital letters.
-
If the manufacturer DID NOT BAKE LONG ENOUGH , usually because they are trying to raise production numbers, that can lead to barrel issues. If you notice ELECTRICAL SMELL ISSUES they have NOT BEEN BAKED ENOUGH, many manufacturers suffered from this issue initially. Manufacturers NEED TO HAVE THEIR PROCESS UNDER CONTROL or issues can result.

Upcoming changes to the forums and brianenos.com

Brian, It's been a pleasure doing DILLON business with you over the years, enjoy yourself. -
Have a look at COATED (HI-TEK) From ACME BULLET COMPANY. I shoot them over VV N320 and BULLSEYE TOO.
-
I generally use ACME, Bayou, and SNS Casting projectiles with HI-TEK coatings. They work great. I also coat/bake my own with HI-TEK MATERIALS FROM Bayou.. I think newer companies entering the coated projectile market, due to BACKLOGS OF ORDERS or LACK OF A HANDLE ON THEIR PROCESS, produced some UNDER BAKED projectiles and hence the SMELL PRODUCED. Blue Bullets uses a different process and so do the MORE TRADITIONAL Powder Coatings some people are using such as the HARBOR FREIGHT Powders and a Shake n' Bake process. The coated projectiles are rapidly replacing the older waxy type lubed bullets, because they WORK, are are less messy on your hands and equipment..
-
Some get a BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL because the coating was UNDERCURED in the baking process.

That 7" screen right in front of you looks great to me, the cost is irreverent to many, results counts especially running a bullet feeder on an 8 station 1050..
