NickO
Has anyone else received a magwell from the new batch? I just ordered one hoping there arent any fitment issues.
cvincent
Just got mine. It has the same tabs protruding into the magwell. Mags will not go in. Henning did send me an email yesterday, Stating to call him as he shipped the wrong magwell. Called him up, said he had a brain fart and forgot to machine the nubs. Said to just send it back and he would get a new one out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JDMarshall
Just mailed mine back. It looked exactly like the one above in this post. Hopefully next run is cleaner.
Intercooler2
Just waiting on the replacement to go with these
kneelingatlas
Henning called today and said these were small frame mag wells they opened up, but missed those nubs, so he's going to get them reworked then start shipping them again.
NickO
^ thanks for the update. I got an order notification yesterday, hopefully mine wasn't shipped out before fix.
Intercooler2
Strike two. At least for me, since it's Matte and not Anodized. Edited October 27, 2014 by Intercooler2
Nealio
That looks anodized to me...?
Intercooler2
Where is the shine? I'm going a different direction. I can just create what I really want with what I have: I guess the mag release, slide stop, safety and hammer I can get from EAA? Send my frame for hard-chrome and where do you get those base pads? hercster
That could be a colour thing on a digital photo. I just checked the Tanfo magwell on my LC and it has a matte finish and is anodized. I mat wait a while and order one of these but may also buy a Tanfoglio unit in black for my small frame Ltd Pro. Despite trying several searches, I haven't found a source for the Tanfo models. Where can these be sourced? Can anyone help me with a link?
Nealio
Anodizing is just a metal treatment, so whatever the metal is like underneath is what the finish is like
Intercooler2
I guess it was never polished then. The other one was nice and shiny, but had the small frame dimples. Anyone have some of the pieces to start the Hunter on it's way?
cmoodybmf
Any drawbacks by removing the coating? I had to Dremel a little to allow my baseplates to fit and I noticed the shininess underneath. Was thinking about removing all the coating and polishing really good.
BrazeauRacing
Recieved mine yesterday. It looks exactly like Intercooler2's. I plan to strip it and brush it with a red 3M Scotchbrite pad, and then apply a couple of coats of Sharkhide to it to maintain the finish. This is what I did to the factory Tanfoglio magwell that I installed on my Limited Pro after machining the sides of it down so that the gun would fit in the IDPA box. Steffes
Bare aluminum will eventually oxidize...especially in the presence of dissimilar metals like uncoated steel hardware.
Intercooler2
I have some questions on duplicating that Gold. Any fitting putting that heart shaped hammer in? Make? The chrome place was wondering if the frame is brushed or matte? What base pad?
shabodah
yes The chrome place was wondering if the frame is brushed or matte?
kneelingatlas
I think the base pad is an EG product, the heart shaper hammer is a factory hammer, should drop right in.
Intercooler2
Any advantage to that hammer? I contacted APW and they weren't real sure in looking at that picture if it's brushed or matte. Anyone have a better picture or can guess? I think the mag release is the stock piece except coated? What ambi safety is that? I will need to order that also and have it coated and does it require fitting? APW charges a fee to tear it down and put it back together and will install non-fitted parts without a charge. If they have to fit the hammer and safety that adds to the cost.
kneelingatlas
It appears those parts are the same as those which come on the Limited. The heart shaped hammer has shorter hooks than the factory hammer on the Hunter.
kneelingatlas
I've never seen one of these Gold Match pistols, but it just looks like a lightened Hunter slide on a Limited, pretty simple really.
Intercooler2
It appears those parts are the same as those which come on the Limited. The heart shaped hammer has shorter hooks than the factory hammer on the Hunter. Does that mean fitting? What does the shorter hooks do? I never measured, but isn't the Hunter frame longer than the Limited?
kneelingatlas
The hammer should drop in, the shorter hooks make for a lighter, shorter trigger pull and the Hunter frame is identical to the Limited except the finish.
Intercooler2
I just looked at them both. The heart hammer looks to be bigger/closer to the frame than the hunter hammer. I think that's the only reason it never contacts the beavertail like the others.
Intercooler2
The magwell has some kind of bear coating on it.
