I just picked up a Bul Ultralight with a compact grip after catching the 2011 bug from picking up a Staccato C2 in February (it was my first 2011). I really like the gun, and I've already ordered a Viper with the full size grip. Bul's 15-round compact grip is actually 5mm shorter than STI's compact grip, but since this is an "Officer" size 2011 I felt that it needed to be even shorter... so... dremel, drill press, belt sander, various files, determination, and an afternoon bored at home = chopped grip and shortened magazines for a flush fit. The Bul 2011 compact magazines are about the only thing I don't like about this handgun (based on the RIA/Para double stack mags), because the magazine base plates are a pain to remove and reattach compared to the full-size mags. However, that attachment method makes it relatively easy to shorten the magazine body and drill new holes for the base plate mounting tabs. The base plates are also unnecessarily long at the front lip, so I shortened that front lip for better aesthetics. I cut 0.300" off the magazine body and the grip for a flush fit when the magazine is inserted. The shortened magazines now only hold 14 rounds, but I believe the gun looks better and conceals better. In addition to chopping the grip and beveling the inside of the newly cut magazine opening, I also rounded off the sharp edges on each side of the bottom of the trigger guard to make it more comfortable when gripping the gun.

Shadow 2 (USPSA) and P-09 (IDPA) for carry optic game guns, and I own several P-07s that I carry with red dots as well as a P-01 with a red dot.

I'm also looking to get my SP-01 milled for an optic as it is my last non-optic gun that I own. I had CZ Custom do my Shadow 2 and recently switched from a Burris FF3 to a Trijicon SRO simply by switching out the plate. The SRO still sits fairly low on the slide even with a plate system. I also had my P-09 milled for an SRO by Jagerwerks because I liked the SRO so much. Since my SP-01 is not a Shadow, I'm concerned with how high the plate system will sit on the slide. Looking for other options for the SP-01.

I'm using a 15# ISMI flat wire recoil spring for a Glock 19 in my P-07. Works great.

I'm guessing he means for Production division. Yep... no SAO in Production, but the Match makes for a great budget Limited division gun.

The blue spring (13#?) that came in the CGW SRS-1 kit... https://cajungunworks.com/product/srs-1-short-reset-system/ I had the same issue (light strikes) when I first put together my SP-01 (non-Shadow) with CGW parts and a 13# hammer spring. My problem was that when I was tapping in the firing pin retaining pin, the firing pin wasn't in the channel completely straight and the retaining pin must have deformed the firing pin slightly as I was hammering it in. I took the firing pin back out while troubleshooting and discovered the "burr", filed it down smooth, reinstalled while being very careful to keep the FP aligned properly and I haven't had a single light strike since. This _may_ not be your issue, but it's worth checking.

The slide on my Match is from a Stock III in .40 S&W (came with supersight). My Match was originally 9mm. That slide is currently on my Limited Pro. The Henning rear sight for the Match is very good when combined with a Dawson front FO sight (I replaced the Henning front sight with a Dawson).

Other than stippling the bottom of the +2 mag bases and reshaping them to fit in the magwell, the extended safeties are the only "custom" work that I've done to the gun (which came out surprisingly well). Everything else is just bolt-on and I could turn this P-09 back into a Production legal gun in less than an hour! It just shows how versatile the P-09/P-07 platform can be.

I originally purchased this P-09 as a Carry Optics gun, but I quickly lost the desire to shoot in that division. Then I saw that Springer Precision came out with their thread-on comp and magwell for the P-09/P-07 and figured it would be fun to put it all together just for shits and giggles. I had to make my own kydex holster for it, and I also modified the factory safety levers into extended levers by melting little dabs of ABS plastic onto them with a soldering iron until there was enough material to shape them into something decent looking. I don't know how competitive this gun would be as an Open gun (or if I'll ever get serious about shooting in Open), but it sure was fun putting it all together.

Good advice. Polishing the breech face on a couple of my Tanfos resolved this same issue for me. I now keep the breech face polished on all my Tanfos and CZs.

The only one that I am aware of is the Canyon Creek "weld-on" magwell. You can have it welded onto the frame (and have the frame refinished), or you can use an epoxy like JB Weld to install it. Red lock tight should to the trick. This thread fit is excellent! Hmmm... I guess removing the barrel from the slide for cleaning would be difficult then. I may have to ponder that one a little.

Thanks for the video! I wasn't even aware that Springer was making a comp that fits the factory threaded barrel. How does the comp attach on a more permanent level?

CC magwell on a Match with Henning's older grips for Stock2/Stock3/LimPro. Slight gap at the bottom.

I had to do a little bit of stone work on the rails of my Limited Pro .40 upper to fit it on my Match and Hunter lowers. Both uppers from the Match and Hunter fit on the Limited Pro frame without any fitting.

This may not be the issue in your case, but I had a similar problem with my CZ SP-01 caused by the inside of one of the grip panels touching the magazine. I sanded the area down on that grip panel and haven't had a problem since. I attribute the issue to my manly-man grip strength distorting the grip panel.

I used black wood stain around the edges, just so that the wood's natural color wouldn't peek out around the sides of each grip, but the grip tape was applied directly to the untreated wood after belt sanding.

Nope... it's just on the outside surface.

I use Dawson Precision grip tape. There really isn't anything special that I do to apply it. I used a belt sander to shape the grips and just made sure that the grips' surface didn't have any weird angles other than the curve to the back strap. I tried to mimic the Henning smooth contour grips that I have on my Limited gun (also covered in gray DP grip tape).

Sfinny Do you have any pics of your grips These are stock wood grips sanded down and contoured to be the same thickness as Henning grips (my preference), but you get the idea...
