ES13Raven
If the average Power Factor for a certain load is 130 out of a Glock 17 (4.5") what would the average Power Factor be for that same load out of a Glock 34 (5.3")?
glockdude1
I would borrow a G34 and hit the range with a chrono....I would think that there may only be a slight difference, but I could be wrong...never tried both of them at the same time with the same load
kneelingatlas
I experienced a 5% increase in velocity from my 4.1" to 5.1" barreled Open guns so maybe 135 PF?
superdude
You can add about 50 fps per extra inch of barrel length. More or less.
AJE
This is a test I did with one of my loads... The next time I chrono I'll add in my G26 and use lighter bullets to check the difference then. I think the powder and bullet weight will change the numbers a little more... just a guess. Glock Barrel Length comparison: G34: 5.31" 927.5 decrease: G17: 4.48" 906.4 97.72% 21.1 fps G19: 4.01" 878.7 94.74% 48.8 fps All rounds 147gr Xtreme plated over 3.6 grains of WST Edited July 6, 2014 by AJE
Aircooled6racer
Hello: If your G17 is 130 PF then your G34 will be 134PF if they both use factory barrels. I tested this at 2 nationals and a couple of other big matches. I was using Tite Group powder and Montana Gold bullets 121 grain. Thanks, Eric
Hi-Power Jack
I have to offer an alternative theory. There isn't any way to estimate what the velocity will be in a different gun. Another identical Glock, with the same length barrel, might have a different velocity (PF). Sorry, no shortcuts - you got to chrono it, as Glockdude mentioned. IMHO. ron169
And I'll further add that the burn rate of the powder will change it also, as well as bullet weight. If your 17 still has powder burning out the end of the barrel, the extra inch of barrel length will yield more velocity than a powder that completely burns... Best to chrono!
