openclassterror
I am getting ready to put together an open class 2011 type pistol, (from Black Dog Gunworks), and have been looking for 170mm mags everywhere. Out of stocks everywhere I look. Can't even seem to find stripped 170 bodies. Does anybody know where I should look? Shooters connection was one of my first stops, but even Chuck was out. Tried Brownell's, Midway, all the biggies too. Thanks in advance! Tom Edited April 30, 2014 by openclassterror

Sarge
I am seeing 94 in stock at shooters connection! You should always go to shooters connection first

Aircooled6racer
Hello: Order the shims, Grams 9mm spring/follower and whatever base pads you like all from Shooters Connection. Thanks, Eric
openclassterror
Assembling from parts takes the price up to $128 per mag. I was hoping there would be a guts kit that brought the price down a little. lilbeauxdawg- You called it- Brazos has them for $106 complete. Thanks! Sarge
Straight STI mags hold less rounds than tubes with grams guts
openclassterror
I emailed Chuck and he said the OUT OF STOCK notice was outdated, and if I had clicked on a caliber it would have shown inventory numbers. I just gave up too early I guess. He has them in stock, and removed to notice. Thanks guys, disaster averted! Tom

Parallax3D
Like Sarge said, stock STI mags hold fewer rounds. Stock STI 170 holds 26 9mm/.38S. With the right springs, follower and basepad, you can get at least 29.You're better off getting a tube and aftermarket internals and basepad. It will be cheaper in the long run. ipscjoe
Are the dedicated 9mm mags already shimmed or are they made specifically for 9? Edited May 1, 2014 by ipscjoe
klee
Not that I know of unless you buy them "tuned" from someone like Akai, Dawson, etc. All 9mm mags start from 38super mag tubes and you add parts from there. Parallax3D
If you order stock STI 9mm mags, they come with a plastic shim.
EkuJustice
Save your money and buy the tubes and add the guts. The sti stock holds 26 for the big stick. You can assbled a 28 rounder pretty easily Edited May 2, 2014 by EkuJustice
Jaxshooter
Listen to EkuJustice. STI tube with Gram's guts and Dawson or Gram base pads and you have 28 rounds.
BillChunn
SVI tubes with SV internals will run with 29. Mine did on Sunday with one in the pipe for a total of 30.... for a 30 round stage... (where's the happy dance icon??) BC
Parallax3D
I'm using an STI tube with Grams internals and a Dawson +1+ S.N.L. basepad, and I get 29 rounds, and it still fits in the USPSA mag gauge. Edited May 2, 2014 by Parallax3D
