ltdmstr
If it was fine before and just started doing it, you should be able to fix by adjusting spring tension.

Jasonub
Will increase your trigger pull but might help. Bend the left most sear spring slightly forward as it's facing away from you. Hth Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
deerassassin22
^^^ Did this above and reassemble seems to be working did a lot of racking and trigger locked every time. Does this mean I need a new sear?

warpspeed
^^^ Did this above and reassemble seems to be working did a lot of racking and trigger locked every time. Does this mean I need a new sear? No. It means that the spring got bent out of spec. Hey - It happens.
Mat Price
what kind of gun. if sti, look at the front trigger guard screws. see if there loosedave what kind of gun. if sti, look at the front trigger guard screws. see if there loosedave Dave just curious why that would cause hammer follow. Mine would intermitanly follow and during a recent cleaning I found the screw and bushing missing. I just figured it was due to my over travel screw backing out. Cause it was also in need of adjustment

Mat Price
Make sure the sear leaf is not slipping off the sear. Colt see Springs are famous for that. I have heard of people wrapping the bottom of the sear spring with masking tape to keep it in place
deerassassin22
^^^^ Mine looks like its got red electrical tape on it.
Mat Price
Pretty good indication previous owner may have had that issue. Try giving the sear leg a bit more bend forward. If that doesn't help. It's probably time for a new spring. Dawson makes a great spring. But you will need a trigger pull gauge to set the spring weigh. Assuming the sear and hammer are in good shape
424D57
Is it stopping at half cock or dropping all the way down? Check the overtravel screw in the trigger- back it out a bunch and check function. Electrical tape around the base of the leaf spring might not mean anything - seems like many leaf springs are too narrow to sit properly in 2011 grips and a common fix is to wrap them in tape to take up the extra space. -424D57
Jerome
Could be sear spring not adjusted properly or hammer & sear improper fit or damaged. Do you have a gunsmith nearby? Here's a good article on how hammer, sear, disconnector, sear spring work together. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=12535/GunTechdetail/2-lb-Trigger-Pull

scooterj
There was a batch of sear springs (cannot remember mfg) that were impropperly heat treated. They work fine for a couple months and then they just quit. Bending the spring is only good for a few mags. Get a new spring and have it tuned to your liking. practical_man
I like the Clark 4 leaf springs. Lets you set disconnector pressure and trigger return pressure independently. Less than $5 last time I bought them. Solves the trigger bounce problem on light triggers.
