Open1215
Seems to be the solution. It generates g code. I will have to see if the mill will run it in a few hours when I can get in the garage without my 3 year old wanting to help daddy.
kevinj308
Bob Warfield over at Cnccookbook.com just made this available as a pdf. It was amazingly informative for me when I discovered it. It's been on his website for a long time, but pretty cool you can take it with you. He will try to sell you his software as he talks about machining. I love his speed and feed software, the simulator not so much. Gotta love free stuff http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCBasicGCodePDFDownload.html?mc_cid=80d2decdda&mc_eid=2da2547db6

Open1215
https://youtu.be/64Zcf6B4dOc Here's a video of me cutting a comp out of wood. (Test material) Video is fast motion so you don't have a 10 min video.
Open1215
I have a question, does anyone here have experience with a trubor barrel blank for a comp? Once the ports are cut, do I still need to ream the comp to the barrel or the fact that it was all cut one piece, does it not need the cutting? Open1215
Thank you. I figured it would be needed for clearance, I just wasn't sure due to the barrel threading extending the entire length of the barrel and comp.

Open1215
It's really fun. Cage took a bit longer to get up then I thought. It was sitting in pieces in my garage for months and some had slightly warped. I figured 2 hour job. Took my wife and I 7 hours. I think if she wasn't under 5 feet tall it may have gone quicker? Lol o well. The 440 seems to be doing a great job. Seeing the videos of it. That seems to be much more economical as well.
dskinsler83
I have been trying to get a dang table built for months by a local welder....not gonna happen I guess
Open1215
:-/ Sounds like you will need to keep looking. Surely someone would be happy to have the work and get it done and done right. Edited January 8, 2016 by Open1215
dskinsler83
Do y'all think the gasless mig wire feed welder from harbor freight be enough to make a table like OG posted one the original starting post
scottlep
Gasless MIGs are a mess. You get too much splatter and weld beads that are way to thick. Very hard to control your welds. Alot of grinding to get the welds to look nice compared to what a gas MIG will do. Why not just build a bolt together table if you don't have a good MIG or have someone that will weld it for you? bmiller
In the right upper corner there a question mark, click on it. There are tutorials there. Lars Christensen does a great series too. I learn a lot from fusion Friday's with cncnyc. Edited February 17, 2016 by bmiller

Open1215
+1 for grab cad. F360 just did a video on Facebook showing how to import files and logos.
bmiller
Could you post a link? I am NOT an expert by any means, but I think my cheap diy 3D printer helped me learn cad the most. I do not come from a computer background at all. Being able to design something and print out the results solidified things in my mind.
