Columbia makes lots of hats for hot weather, i used a couple last year and they work great.

just one example

I wear a Columbia Bora Bora booney II hat in the summer. It is ventilated so it allows air to circulate and the wide brim keeps my head, neck and ears from getting sunburned.

How do you keep the hat on while wearing ear muffs? Do you use the cords on the hat, or some other trick?

I must have been reading more into the original post. I thought that Tom was looking for cool headgear that was compatible with ear muffs.

That or the thread has drifted sufficiently away from the the original post, and people are just offering suggestions for cool headgear in general without any particular constraints.

I am looking for something compatible with muffs. Doesn't have to be a ball cap, I'm open-minded but I don't see how anything else would work.

The Rudy Project hat still looks best to me, but I just ordered one of the Arc'teryx Baller Ass Caps (I was scared to google that) because I had a gift cert for amazon. Still not white, but looks light enough. *cross fingers*

If I don't find a solution I like this season, I may just ante-up to a pair of amplified custom earplugs next year. I do a lot of RO-ing so plain earplugs aren't an option I feel comfortable with, safety-wise. Plus, talking to your buddies is half the fun of a shooting match

LOL! I just got a text message that I had a package from "Supaporn Hardy"... Apparently is the name of an employee at CEDHK.

I started wearing this hat from Outdoor Research this year to try to keep the sun off my neck and face as much as I can. At first I thought it wasn't really my style but I like it now.

The thing here in the desert with the sun behind you at most matches it is not only the top of the head but the back of the neck. The only thing I have found that works so far is a cowboy hat but beyond the huge fashion fau pas, that is a no-go with muffs. The search continues.....
