Destry34
Anybody ever have any problems with winchester primers? I usually use federal or cci's but picked up a 1000 and loaded a few and when seating the primer, they are more than flush. Is there any particular reason or is that something i dont need to worry about? Thanks Destry
Sarge
More than flush? You mean deeper? Deeper is fine. Less than flush could mean high primers and those would be a problem. Winchesters are excellent primers.
Destry34
^^^ Thank you didn't think it would be a big deal I have only been reloading for about 5 months so still learning.
Dillon b
i have had 8 or so bad primers in a 5000 count sleeve that i bought a year ago. Im not sure if it was the primers fault or the conditions in which they were treated too before i got them. overall i think i got unlucky in some way shape or form. Ive used probably 10k before that with no issues whatsoever.
jfrey
I use them almost exclusively and prefer them over CCI. That's just me.
shopgun
The only problem I ever had with Winchester primers were light strikes in some 'tuned' revolvers where Federal seems to be the go to choice.

norbs007
Tried pretty much all the famous brands and for me Winchester is the best, for my guns at least.
warpspeed
I think I've used more WSP than any other primer. never had a bad one. There, now I've jinxed it.
sidnal
I've tried many different primers but WSP are all I use in competition for open, limited or production. For practice any primer will do and they all go bang.
Eric_Vmax
I am on the last of my WSP pistol primers, still have 5000 small rifle primers. Did not have any problems, but bought 10K CCI because they were on sale. I have used CCI before and like both.
Steve RA
Try Tula, very inexpensive (relatively) from Powder Valley. Had good luck with them in .45ACP and .40 S&W.
bobmysterious
Winchester for me, I consistently had issues setting off the CCI's I tried. Switched to the Winchester primers and everything has been cool since.
Mike_P
When I began reloading I tried to stick to one type of primer. CCI500 in the case of 9mm/40. However I eventually moved to accepting different brands. Winchester is without a doubt my favorite though and my go to primer.
Red Ryder
No problems here. 15,000 and counting.
bubbacrabb
I use a lot of different primers, I just stock up when things are on sale or when most is not available I buy whats available. I have a lot of winchester primers and they work well. I also purchased 25000 wolf and tulu primers that I payed 15 dollars a thousand for and they are great. Other than being a little more oompf to seat. They seat rather tight but go bang atleast for me. Good luck.
Bansheex
The only primers I have ever had any issues with were Wolf. Don't know why, but I was getting about a 10, to 15 percent failure rate. I have been using Winchester for the last few months with good results. Edited May 2, 2012 by Bansheex
