bdpaz Posted March 1, 2010 Share Posted March 1, 2010 The 10-8s are good but still aren't any thicker than the stock base plates. I've been using my M&P45 (with the 10-8 base plates) to play in Production and full 10 round magazines are very hard to seat. So kaisderb isn't the only one looking for some kind of rubber slam pad. I am looking for either. however the caveat is, I use the gun for IDPA so it has to fit the IDPA box. SSS has a new magwell out which is built specifically for IDPA ESP class, but the extended base pads for IDPA are far and few between. So the interim solution is to put slam pads on the stock mag bottoms to make a longer mag. Well if I have to cut something, I will probably buy some sheet rubber. I just wondered if anyone had ready-made slam pads for the M&P mags. prreed10 Posted March 2, 2010 Share Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) I found some square foam pads for furniture legs at Harbor Freight. Just enough to help get mags in with a magwell. 1 and 1/2 pads cover the bottom of a Glock Mag. They are self adhesive - peel and stick. I punched a hole in the pad to still allow the mag to be disassembled. I put some on in November - shooting 3 matches a month since and they are still hanging on. Best part is they are $0.99 for 18. If one falls off, they are very inexpensive to replace. They are about the same size as the Pachmayr Pads made for the Browning Hi Power. Dan Burwell Posted March 2, 2010 Share Posted March 2, 2010 I took three factory base pads epoxied/ screwed them together, once cured, I redrilled the hole. Then I took them to the bench sander and shaped them to fit the mag well an the box. Put a little black paint on them and they work good. Since I had replaced all my mag pads with the compact ones, I had a bunch of the old ones laying around, so this really didn't cost anything. Like a Glock mag, theres almost no pad hanging off the front of the mag. No more 3/4" long duckbill stabbing you in the palm during the load. As for slam pads I went down to my local TSC and bought a piece of sheet rubber 1/4" thick. Between the band saw, belt sander and a sharp knife I now have 6 slam pads and enough material to make 50 more for a whopping $6.
