  1. So the Bladetech Revolution pouches would work right? And for a belt, IPDA just uses a leather belt correct?
  2. Hello everyone, I have been shooting USPSA Production division this year and and starting to look at IDPA SSP as well for several reasons. I think I will be transitioning more to IDPA over the course of the year and eventually focus on IDPA. That said, I will still shoot both sports as I really enjoy them both for different reasons so I want my gear to be as similar as possible for muscle memory, drills, etc. Right now I am shooting a CZ 75B from a Bladetech DOH holster, CR Speed Mag Pouches, and a CR Speed two piece outer/inner belt. From what I understand, none of that is legal in it's current configuration for IDPA. I can drop the DOH attachment and use the holster straight on the belt. However the CR Speed gear will not work for SSP right? What is the best gear to use that is legal for both IDPA SSP and USPSA Production? Thanks and have a blessed day! - Timothy
  3. Yep, I LOVE mine as well. It is awesome in it's simplicity.
  4. Oh yeah, the sniper details in One Shot I had to read a couple of times to make sure I understood what I read haha... yeah it was definitely him not me. Overall though, fun reads, not classics by any means. I started reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo today when I was stuck at a Starbucks for an hour waiting to pick up my kids. It was free on my Kindle Fire and I hadn't read it yet... so theology and American Assassin aside for now... Hugo on deck.
  5. Several of you guys have mentioned Vince Flynn, and I happen to have American Assassin on my shelf unread. I think that is up next after my theology books.
  6. Whoot!! My Pens made a huge splash today! Crosby agreed to a 12-year contract extension worth $104.4 million, effectively making him a cradle to grave Penguin!
  7. Me personally... I would love to have a USPSA standard target in steel, with the A zones (both body and head) cutout to put plain cardboard behind. Hitting steel is a non-a zone hit, change out the cardboard when you shoot up the a-zones. Then add a couple mini poppers and I would be set.
  8. Thanks for the great write-up DonovanM. I feel I am in your shoes as well as the majority of my progression has come from dry-fire. I have been involved in USPSA since March and just got my B card and recently shot two high A classifiers... Am I an 'A shooter', or a 'B Shooter even? I don't think so. I think I rock at classifiers and am looking for a way to expand my skills and grow into a legit A shooter before moving beyond in to M and beyond.
  9. I recently read a couple fun books before diving back into non-fiction / theological books. Lee Child: One Shot Lee Child: The Enemy My father-in-law gave me these for an airplane trip awhile ago and I finally got around to reading them. Fast reads, fun exciting stories. I think I jumped into the series at #8 and #9, but I don't think it matters when you start reading them. Right now I am working through some theology books on the Biblical books Acts, Romans, and Revelations.
  10. I loved those books. I rarely read fantasy much, but these and the Narnia and LotR books are on my shelf and get read again occasionally. I had a nick on an old forum 'Kal' that I took from these books haha.
  11. Rock on... thanks for posting that! I have been looking for affordable stands and this is perfect.
  12. That is a shame to hear of the problems with the shield. I was seriously considering getting one but will now wait for a Gen2 or more field testing. As for getting a new carry pistol... grab a used, but well taken care of pistol. You will get nearly twice the pistol for the same price. While I admit I am trying to trade my CZ P06 for a 9mm carry pistol, I still picked it up used for about $200 under new price and it would fall into your range.
  13. haha, yeah... there is room to stand, not sit... haha
  14. haha, yeah... let's just say that there is room to stand in there, not sit.
  15. Like several others here, we have a major space issue on our hands. We lost our previous home to a fire and for now are in a three bedroom townhouse with no garage and no storage etc. So I stole a corner from our laundry room / spare bathroom and reinforced a small bench from Lowes / Home Depot and attached it to the wall for my 650. It works great and before the 650 was attached I could stand on it and it did not move at all. Since installing it I have loaded around 600 rounds so far and I love it even though the space is so small.
  16. I have the same problem Stan... we have a three bedroom townhouse with no garage and no storage etc. So I stole a corner from our laundry room / spare bathroom and reinforced a small bench from Lowes / Home Depot and attached it to the wall for my 650. 17. Seriously... the draft was the last big deal, aside from the start of free agency on Sunday, and the start of a nearly four month funk in the sports world. October cannot get here fast enough!
  18. I emailed Donnie yesterday to get an ETA on my order so I could start budgeting for the order when it is ready... he replied "At the rate I am going you can start picking up aluminum cans from the roadside to fund the bullets :-)" haha. So while not a true indicator of a timeline, I think it is safe to say he is still back ordered. He did go on to say that he is adding equipment to the shop to double production soon. So hopefully he is back up to speed soon!
  19. So my family is comprised of avid readers from 1st grade, 4th grade, 11th grade, and my wife and I. My wife reads on average around 75 books a year, me and my high school daughter a bit less than that, and the younger kids a bit more (shorter kids books of course haha). So I am always on the look out for more books for my wife and I. I recently read a book that my wife liked just because I didn't have anything else open at the time. Before I go to Sleep by S.J. Watson. A GREAT book for a first time novelist and a suspenseful page turner. It is not a classic by any means, but a fast fun read. I actually read it in less than 24hrs as I couldn't put it down haha. Outside of the oft mentioned shooting books, I typically read thrillers, spy novels, Christian fiction, and some fantasy albeit not very much.... so what is everyone else reading?
  20. I have had this situation come up twice for me, once in practice and once in a match. I do not have video, so I'll try to explain as best I can. On both stages, I was attempting to shoot very close targets while on the move to another array of targets. Both targets were around 2 feet in front of me at the time of breaking the first shot. Both times I was running ahead of myself and ALMOST overran the target before breaking the second shot. At the time of breaking the second shot, I ran to the left of the target, extended my right hand out from my body and engaged the target one handed with my body in front of the plane of the target, pistol pointing downrange and NOT Breaking 180. Obviously this is not an ideal situation and was a direct result of me trying to rush and getting ahead of myself. So I am not wanting to get a ruling that this is normal and acceptable... however, is it illegal? I was not called for anything on the match run and in practice of course there was no RO. Both times again, people said that I did not break 180 so it was not a DQ offense. What is the opinion of this?? Other than not smart and a potentially dangerous thing that I need to slow down to prevent in the future haha.
  21. Agreed lugnut! I have only been shooting USPSA for a few months, but in that very short time I have already found that to be completely true as well. Before shooting, I played hockey for 25 years (goalie for a couple years in the minors and pro inline) and golf for a few years. The times I performed the best at both sports, was when I was calm and relaxed when facing the game. In hockey every time the play would go to the other end of the ice, I would take a moment to breathe, collect myself, and clear my mind of everything going on around me. I would speak aloud reminding myself that I know the game, I know the angles, I know I rock. Just breathe, relax, enjoy the now. The best golf game I ever shot... beating my previous best score by 12 strokes even haha, was when I wasn't even trying. A friend and I were playing a round and a very cute girl playing single caught up to us on the third hole and asked if she could join us. Me being the flirt that I am spent more time flirting, laughing, having fun, then worrying about my game. The rest of the round was smooth, fun, and the best I ever shot. That is the amazing thing about Brian's book... it not only applies to shooting, it applies to everything we do. I just need to continue to develop my shooting skills so it all flows here in this game as well as it did in hockey now. haha
  22. Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah I need to slow down my "Make Ready" routine. I feel like everyone is watching and I need to hurry. I have only shot 6 matches to date, so I haven't mastered the pre-buzzer adrenaline dump yet. At our weekly practice session last night I shot a friends M&P Pro with Apex trigger... I am very happy to stay with my CZ and manually decock the hammer now haha.
  23. I was considering getting another CZ and looking at the Tactical for the decocker. Manually dropping the hammer in Production every stage makes me think the Tactical or even a striker fired pistol would be nice. Why do people say the Tactical is not suited for competition?
  24. Congrats sniperfrog and everyone else! I had lost 100lbs and maintained it for 7 months now, even after our house fire in November 2011 and not exercising a lick since then. This past week I had a stressful week both at home and work and blew everything in my diet to hell! We ate rice and potatoes for a week, ate brunch at an awesome french restaurant including the wonderful pastry desserts, and we drank bottles of wine every evening for said week. All told i gained 10lbs in that week. Four days of going back to eating primal and drinking lots of water and I have lost 11lbs since I lost my fracking sanity.
  25. I always shot with cheap to moderate glasses and thought they were just fine... until I tried out a few pairs of Rudy's from one of the team members here. I bought a pair the next day with three different lenses and I absolutely love them. They are well worth the price, especially compared to the price I paid for my lasik surgery 5 years ago. Now my vision is 20/15 and my shooting glasses are just as sharp as the real world.
