  1. I bought one over the weekend an d it should be here on Wednesday. Since this post I have been practicing with my wife's Ruger MKIII and it has helped tremendously. I am seeing the sights lift clearer and indexing much faster since practicing with the 22. Once the Kadet arrives, I am hoping to see the progression continue to improve as I will be using my actual CZ with the same weight, trigger, grip, etc.

  4. Wow, that is pretty sharp looking. I have been trying to decide between a 75 Shadow (USPSA and IDPA) and an SP01 Shadow (USPA only)... this might push me into the USPSA only and use a carry pistol for playing around in IDPA.
  5. You are right about the irrigation really only applying to the Sigmoid or descending. It isn't going to work at all for an ileostomy unfortunately. I have to second the memory foam idea as well. That really seems like it could be a good custom job for you. This past weekend I saw a guy using a shotgun belt for his rig and he used wooden blocks tucked into the shot shell pouches to be used as spacers to keep the mags away from his body. I bet you could do something similar here as well for leaving a channel for your bag to hang. Best of luck with your solution!
  6. Depending on the type of ostomy you have obviously... If you have Sigmoid or Descending Colostomy you can try to use irrigation to train your body to irrigate on a set schedule. That might allow for you to wear a stoma cap during matches to avoid the bags entirely. While I don't have an ostomy myself, I manage the IT department and write our corporate blog articles for our ostomy blog and medical blog. I may be able to help out or at least point you in the right direction. PM me if you want and maybe we can brainstorm together. Have a blessed day my friend. - Timothy
  7. I barefoot 95% of the time, the rest of the time I am in either minimalist sandals or when I have to wear shoes for shooting, public places, etc, I wear either Vibram Fives or on the trails and in the shooting bays I wear Merrell Trail Gloves.
  8. Rock on Spanky!! That is amazing!! I know need to add crossfit to my routine as well. I joined a meetup group for Paleo/Primal people awhile ago and do some crossfit type workouts with them sporadically. Several of the members are also crossfit instructors so they run the WODs for us. Today I am seeing my ortho surgeon regarding some shoulder pain since I started doing some burpees and the 100 pushup challenge at home. I am hoping it is just some remnants of old old surgery and can be fixed easily. When it is all good again, I am looking to join a crossfit gym.
  9. I am a new shooter (A76203) and I shot my first event this weekend, a six classifier stage match in Production (CZ75B 9mm). According to my math I should be a solid C and looking to hit B by mid to late summer. My ultimate goal is to hit A no later than after this same match next year. Here is my scorecard from my first six qualifiers, I should be in the system with the mid-April update. CM 99-11 El Presidente: 40pts / 8.45sec = HF 4.7337 (CmCalc = 46.15%) CM 99-21 Mini Mart: 56pts / 10.37sec = HF 5.4002 (CmCalc = 48.33%) CM 03-02 Six Chickens: 46pts / 11.51sec = HF 3.9965 (CmCalc = 66.62%) CM 99-16 Both Sides Now #2: 54pts / 12.44sec = HF 4.3408 (CmCalc = 48.10%) CM 99-10 Times Two: 54pts / 11.04sec = HF 4.8913 (CmCalc = 54.20%) CM 99-46 Close Quarters Standard: 85pts / 18.52sec = HF 4.5896 (CmCalc = 48.18%) I don't know how USPSA calculates the overall percentage, but according to CmCalc I have five scores in the C and one in the B... So I am guessing I am a "C Shooter" for now and working towards B this summer.
  10. I will second the vote for Paleo/Primal (marksdailyapple.com) I have lost 100lbs in 9 months, my wife has lost 65lbs... three months ago our house burnt down and we haven't exercised a single time since then and STILL lost weight beyond my initial goals from the Paleo/Primal lifestyle alone. If people want to chat about details, please feel free to message me. I am a huge supporter of Paleo/Primal as it has really changed my life, with measurable and real effects. Best of luck in your weight loss brother.
  11. Great job on the weight loss everyone! My wife and I started a Primal (Paleo) lifestyle last June and I have lost just around 100lbs while my wife has lost 65. Running and gunning is a lot easier without what amounts to my 9yo daughter and 6yo son on my back... haha
  12. My wife and I have been "Primal", think Paleo but we eat dairy, since June 22, 2011. In less than one year I have lost 100lbs and my wife has lost 65lbs and neither of us workout a lick. We walk and hike alot, and are far more active now than ever before, but no weights or gyms in the past 9 months. Now that I am starting to stall a bit as I get down to the last of the weight I want to lose, I am starting to exercise following the Primal Blueprint by Marc Sisson (marksdailyapple.com) and I am definitely stronger than I have been since I played minor league hockey. We have introduced many people to the paleo/primal lifestyle by our weight loss alone, not to mention our energy levels. We have cooked for people, taken them out hiking with us, and basically shown them what we do now... WHEN they ask how we made such huge changes, THEN we go into the discussion about being paleo/primal. Don't preach it to them... show it to them.
  13. Hey everyone! I just joined USPSA today and should have my member number on Thursday. I will be shooting my first real USPSA event on Saturday with six qualifiers, and possibly shooting an event on Sunday with five stages plus one qualifier. After this weekend I should know where I stand. I will be shooting a CZ75B 9mm in Production Division and am gunning for an A Classification by the end of this season. I know that is ambitious, but I like a challenge. In order to get that A Classification, I need practice... a lot of practice. As I am not sponsored nor independently wealthy yet, and I am not reloading likely until later this summer, ammo is expensive and going to be my most limiting factor. Combined with daily dry fire drills, daily target tracking/transition drills, and limited live 9mm ammo drills twice a week, is it a good option to add a Kadet .22 adapter to my CZ so I can shoot more live ammo for practice? What should a practice session look like with .22 vs 9mm? What pitfalls should I look out for when practicing with .22 vs 9mm? Thanks everyone!!
  14. I am looking for something like this as well... I have extremely limited space to setup a Dillon 550B and need to stash it in a small corner essentially. I am still new and researching all things Dillon / reloading... why wouldn't the strong mount work on this base? I was thinking of mounting the strong mount to a thick board, then the board to the stand... am I over thinking it?
  15. Looks like Sparta is a little over an hour from us... not bad for the occasional event. I am looking at my schedule and seeing if I can make the 24th event.
  16. Sorry about that... I found this forum after I posted in the CZ forum and tried to delete the other one... Thanks for the heads up! Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was open that this pistol would work for the Production and equivalent classes and for the most part it looks like it can. Thanks again!
  17. Hey everyone, I registered here years ago and used to shoot a lot for fun. Life has it's way of making changes whether we want them or not and I got away from shooting for a long time. Just this week I picked up a CZ-75B again and will be ready to start killing paper knocking down steel. Looking to have some fun again and shooting matches here in St. Louis!
  18. Hey everyone, thanks for looking! I just picked up a very lightly used CZ-75B with the following work already performed on it and am wanting to use it for some casual IDPA, IPSC, and USPSA matches at my (soon to be) local club. I am not looking for the top of the line perfected pistol for each class, rather I am looking to use this firearm as a means to have fun in the production level classes of the various pistol games. So what class is the following CZ-75B able to shoot in and is it going to be a decent pistol for each? 20. I have had 5 knee surgeries and and 2 shoulder surgeries, all a result of 20+ years of hockey. I would strongly recommend getting the surgery done quickly if that is the route you are going to take. The sooner you get it over with, the sooner you can get on with rehab, the sooner the pain ends and you can get back to life as normal. And honestly man... don't fret over the one or two cases of staph infections you are hearing about. Hundreds and thousands of surgeries happen daily with people walking away healthy and all patched up. Best of luck with your knees. It is a bitch to recover from, I know first hand, but it is worth it in the long run. Take care.
  21. Stoeger is a decent enough firearm, but I would spend a couple extra dollars and get the CZ. You can't go wrong with a CZ. I have loved all four of mine and have never had a problem.
  22. Cool... Thanks 1911user! I just skimmed the Hogdon list so fast I missed it. Next step is to find a local place and see what paying retail & taxes is vs Hazmat and shipping. Thanks for all the help everyone.
  23. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Powder Valley looks great! I think I will have to get some friends together to grab some supplies and break up those HazMat fees for sure. They don't carry the TiteGroup powder I was planning on using, so what would you guys recommend next? I was looking at Win 231 as my secondary choice. What do you think? Thanks!
  24. I think I have settled on the following load for my CZ SP-01 9mm in Production Class competition shooting. Of course I have to run a few hundred rounds through my particular firearm to see how it actually performs, but that is another matter. Zero 9mm 124gr FMJ bullets over 4.0gr of Tite Group with Federal 100 Primers = should be around 1050fps = 130 PF Now I have found a good source for the Zero bullets from Angus' website, and brass from Brassman.com. Now I just need to find the best prices on the powder and primers. Any help out there? Thanks!
  25. I am a competition junkie. I played hockey for 25 years, a few in the minors and even pro inline for a season, before a series of five knee surgeries, and recently two shoulder surgeries from injuries during my playing time, forced me to hang up the goalie pads and the skates. After "retiring" I went into a pretty bad funk for a bit. I got depressed, gained a bunch of weight, and pretty much became a couch potato feeling sorry for myself. I needed some form of competition. Something for me to work towards, goals to strive for. Then a friend got me into pistol shooting, about 8 years ago now. I did some local friendly matches for a bit and really enjoyed it, but mainly I shot back then as a means to relieve stress. I never crossed the line into real competitions. A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to some great guys at a local range. Now I am getting into the competition aspect. I am driven to compete against myself, my best times, my best scores, and of course my fellow shooters. Having been a competitor in various sports my entire life, I bring the same level of dedication and sportsmanship to the shooting sports. Just picking it up later in life than some of you I am sure. So now I am hitting the range about twice a week and dry firing about an hour a night. I'll be ordering Brian's videos to get some pointers there as well. I am also anxiously awaiting my new pistol from Matthew Mink, a finely tuned CZ SP-01 9mm. I hope to compete in my first real match here shortly after the new year. Yeah... shooting is very therapeutic for me. My wife says I am a bear to be around when I am not competing or releasing that competitive energy.
