  1. Why would it be an issue if you walk up to the line with your make ready mag in your hand? Your magazine will be inserted in the pistol at Make Ready. Per 8.2.3, you are not allowed to have a loaded mag in hand (or gun in hand) after Standby. But prior to that it makes no difference according to the rules if you walk around the range all day with a loaded mag in your hand (except the safety area, of course) or in any pocket you want. But if you intend to use a mag from the pocket after the buzzer, it's placement becomes important. Curtis Edited: 'cause I hate typos!
  2. Shawn, I don't know if this will help you but I used Adobe Illustrator and used a non-printing grid to guide as a scale so that the elements were placed proportionally to distance. As an ad design agency, we have programs with these sort of options. But you might be able to accomplish something similar by drawing a grid background, creating an appropriate scale to the size of your stage, drawing on it and scanning the result. Sorry I don't have any better suggestion. What I did was the best I could come up to keep the document totally in the digital realm, for ease in making adjustments. Curtis
  3. Which the exception of that word "in" as a potential qualifier, to me the wording would seem to otherwise allow carrying mags on magnetic type retention devices on the belt that were designed expressly for that purpose. Curtis 5.2.4 During the course of fire, unless stipulated otherwise in the stage procedure, spare ammunition, magazines and/or speed loading devices shall be carried in retention devices attached to the competitor’s belt and specifically designed for that purpose. Unless specifically prohibited in the Written Stage Briefing, a competitor may also carry additional magazines or speed loading devices in apparel pocket(s) and retrieve and use them without penalty, providing that the location of the apparel pocket does not violate the requirements of Appendix D, Item 12 (subject to the provisions of Rule 6.2.5.1). Edited: to clarify a phrase
  4. Really appreciate the heads up on these changes, Gary. Curtis
  5. I've never understood this since if you forget to turn the plate you also had nowhere to: A- put a new piece of brass since there is still one sitting there in Station 1. B- put a bullet since there is already one there in station 2. Basically I don't think its the press, it's the person using it. The 550 is a great machine and not dangerous at all if some basic care is taken while loading with it. Agreed, and that basic care is the basic price of admission to the Society of Safe Reloading I like my 550B lots...easy to change calibers and it's simplicity makes for easy set up and operation. Curtis
  6. Cool. If you used any other custom Glock triggers, it always interesting to hear how this trigger compares with some of the competition. If not, that's cool, too. If the trigger is accomplishing what you want, that's all that's necessary. Any trigger work, from the 25 cent trigger job to custom triggers makes getting those double alphas easier. Curtis
  7. Are you connected with the company or just a satisfied customer? I'd be interested in what makes this particular trigger superior, i.e. a little more substance and a little less hype would make a better case for the product. Curtis
  8. Thanks, George, for the reminder. Now that I think about it, this came up during our discussions for my CRO. Sorry to have to admit I had forgotten the specific behind the rationale. Curtis
  9. I bought one that I've been using on a bolt action .308 just to play around with and am very pleased overall. Excellent value for the price: you'd probably have to spend at least twice that to begin to get better quality with similar features. Probably not the first choice for serious long range competitors, but they have good reason to opt for more pricey premium glass. Curtis Edited: 'cause I hate typos!
  10. Add me to the list of happy with a SPR-E and Meopta. As blackstone says, "you can always move it closer if you have to." Curtis
  11. #13 has always worked great for me, as well. Curtis
  12. Better scratch me from the list due to uncertain arrival time. I'll see y'all at the range. Curtis
  13. See the above link...some are, some aren't. Curtis
  14. Brian's DVD is an excellent resource indeed...I find myself reviewing it before first-time set up of new dies for a new caliber on my 550B. Curtis
  15. Somebody was running a supressor last year...got a reshoot on the stage I saw when the timer never picked up his last shot Curtis
  16. In the grand circularity of info here on the forum I just realized this evening that I saved that link from a posting that my buddy and bayou neighbor Barney88pdc made a few weeks back. It is good info...and worth the repost Curtis
  17. I opted for the Dillon set (with the addition of a Lee FCD) for my 550B, but the following link has an interesting take from a seasoned high power competitor on "Reloading Match Ammunition on Progressive Reloading Equipment". http://lcsahighpower.com/2008/04/22/reloading-match-ammo/ Curtis
  18. Sent in my entry the first day the application for new shooters was posted. Got my confirmation on January 11. Curtis
  19. Hmm. If this is true, I wonder the rationale for this? Since Merlin already tried a hissy fit which had no effect on the match director, I'll just stay home next year...which also won't have any effect on the MD. Curtis Edited: 'cause I hate typos!
  20. It ain't braggin' when you show justifiable pride in your accomplishments...you've earned it! Keep it up, brother, and make those Masters and GMs watch their backs Curtis
  21. Didn't have much luck with Blazer either in my Buckmark URX Contour, but no problems with over 2,300 rounds of Federal AutoMatch. Curtis
  22. Been looking forward to 2010 since the match wrapped up last year. A super match! Curtis
  23. I've been shooting the Prvi Partisan 168 gr. Match HP. Excellent accuracy and I consider it a bargain for the quality at around .75 a round. Curtis
  24. I go with a Briley Light Modified, based on the recs from some much better competitors than myself, and the fact it seems to shoot slugs better than the IC. YMMV. Curtis
