  1. Spare trigger-return spring and trigger pin. Getting the pin out of the hammer can be a PITA. An option is to order an extra hammer strut.
  2. A couple seconds with a throating reamer will solve that.
  3. I'm holding out for a bull-barrel SP01 Shadow. Maybe Stuart & Angus can make one as a custom-shop model now that they're spinning their own barrels…
  4. I'll dry fire 30–45 minutes almost every evening during the week and hit the range one day on the weekend for practice or a match. This got me from 45% on my first classifier in April to A class in August. I'll run whole COFs in our condo with multiple reloads…
  5. Best case, practicing with pistol #2 means that you aren't practicing with pistol #1. More realistically, practicing with pistol #2 interferes your ability to run pistol #1 well due to the differences. Case in point: the adjustable rear sight on my CZ-75 SP01 Shadow blew up in the middle of a stage today. I finished the match with my 75B Stainless. These are about as close as pistols are going to get—the 75B weights a bit less, has a slightly longer reset, and a slightly shorter magazine release. Even so, I short-stroked the trigger on one target and failed to drop the magazine on the first press on one stage. Only cost me a few tenths of a second, but I can only imagine transitioning between a CZ and a 1911 or Glock.
  6. There was much weeping and gnashing of teeth shooting this one today. There's no way to hose it—you need to place your hits accurately. The transition to the weak hand while in motion isn't easy, and the right-side array presents itself at a steep angle from P3. Clipping a no-shoot on the first string and generally not caring about my shots after that landed me a 3.0960. Did a re-shoot and got 4.0134, which was more what I expected going into the stage. The 13 series is not yet in Classifier Calc, so we'll see where that lands me mid-month.
  7. Wilderness Tactical for IDPA and carry, DAA for everything else. The best thing about the double-belt system is that you leave all your gear permanently attached to the outer belt. Gearing up for dry fire takes seconds.
  8. You might want to re read Appendix D4, 21.2B in the USPSA rulebook... Meant to write IPSC, not USPSA.
  9. The price of the pistol quickly becomes irrelevant compared to the price of ammo IMHO. In addition to the trigger, the SP01 Shadow comes with a sight cut that allows for more of a target-style sight. Milling the slide will cos you time and money and bump you out of SSP in IDPA and out of Production in USPSA. CZ Custom worked over the triggers in my 75B and SP01 Shadow. The 75B trigger is quite good, but it has noticeable stacking and more reset than the Shadow one.

    Spare Parts Kit

More likely than any of those parts breaking is needing to replace the trigger return spring. It's staked in place, so you need a punch, etc. to get it out. Cajun Gun Works makes a floating trigger pin that's held in place by spring tension and is easier to get out in the future.

    CZ Accu-Shadow

It comes out under hand pressure in a few seconds. I haven't had to use the included wrench.
  12. I was planning to replace the trigger-return spring on my SP01 Shadow at 10k rounds but it broke around 9,500 + a bazillion dry-fire pulls.
  13. Yeah, the SP01 Shadow is a Limited-10 gun disguised with a DA first shot I switched from an M&P to an SP01 Shadow back in the spring. Dry fired the hell out of the pistol for two weeks, got in a range trip in the middle, and tied my M&P Steel Challenge scores the first time shooting it in a match. It's been up, up, and away since then! The CZ is a far more accurate pistol than the M&P, offers a better trigger, and the extra weight makes for faster splits. For me, it's also a more rewarding pistol to dry fire with, which has helped tremendously. Downside is a more complex firing mechanism and more small parts that can break or get lost. Just order some spare parts with it and stay on top of maintenance—you can't treat is like a lawnmower.
  14. Next match, try holding the pistol with your strong hand and asking one of the top shooters at your club to grip the pistol with their weak hand as if they were shooting.
  15. +1 on the Surefire iPhone app and using the par time function. I like it more than my Pocket Pro for dry fire because I can drop the volume to a reasonable level for indoors. Dry-fire drills can range from draws & reloads to shooting entire field courses with multiple shooting positions and reloads.
  16. I squint my weak eye when I'm making tough shots with a hard front-sight focus but leave both open when shooting with target focus. I have the same issue as you in that both eyes open with a font-sight focus leaves me wondering which of the two targets I need to shoot
  17. I think we need to keep in mind that The Firearms Report is a humor site focused on calling out self-important blowhards and posting pictures of scantily clad women with guns. A serious firearms review would be stepping out of their lane.
  18. Doesn't everybody include decocking and flip & catch as part of their dry fire routine And of course congratulations on finding a Shadow!
  19. I used to use the Eurotrash method shown in this video: It's a very safe and controlled method. No risk of the hammer slipping like with the common approach of pinching and lowering it with the thumb and pointer finger of the weak hand. I've since switched to cowboy style and lower the hammer with my strong-hand thumb. Chicks dig it.
  20. Good point. It's on the CZ-USA page, so changing my vote (which hardly matters) to yes. By that measure, the Accu Shadow will become SSP legal at some point, but having my 75B Stainless slide machined for a Heinie rear bumps it to ESP.
  21. Looking under the SSP section: 8.2.1.3.1. Sights may be changed to another notch and post type but slides may not be machined to accept different style sights in SSP. So I'd vote no.
  22. I have an SP01 Shadow on order with the short-reset trigger. I've had too many Bo-Mar style sights break on my 1911 to bother trying one on a CZ—it's less frustrating to swap out the front sight. You can always send in the top end for the Accu-Shadow conversion once they're Production legal. It's CZC's intension to make that happen, but anyone who gives you a date on when it will is guessing.
  23. Here's the write-up: link. Now telling how much each of the three pistols had been worked over.

    CZ Shadow Viper

They're in Stuttgart. You could combine a visit with a cruise on the Rhine and tours of castles for a memorable vacation.

    Barrel throating

I did line up a loaner reamer and will post a follow up once the work's done and tested.
