  1. I want to try some Bayou Bullets 150gr SWC in my .38 super Colt. I want to use VV N320 but I can't find any information on this bullet weight and powder, even 147gr. Any info? Any users of the BB 150gr SWC out here? Looking to make minor PF. Thanks
  2. For me? It's the S&W Model 13 .357 with 3" barrel. Shoots and handles well. Carries nicely.
  3. When it comes to getting to the mag catch I was going to go to an extended model for my Colt. But when I saw some of the new Mag Pull 1911 grips with the extreme cut out for the thumb I thought I would give them a try, for less than $20.00 not much to lose. I have found they work great when it comes to getting to the mag release. Haven't gone to an extended mag button yet. Brownells as them.
  4. I've used the coated Bayou Bullets quite a bit for 9mm, .38 Super and .38 special loads, indoor and out. I never noticed any smoke when shooting those. I shoot a lot of indoor IDPA matches and my shooting buddies say they smoke but I don't notice while shooting. Presently using either Extreme plated, thick plate, concave base or Berry's thick plate, hollow base [very good accuracy from both]. 9mm and super in 124gr and .38spl in 158gr. The Bayou .38spl is 160gr. Some guys around here are getting them sized to .356 to use in their 9mm pistols. For powder I use Ramshot Competition and VV N320.
  5. I regularly clean and lube my SQDB. I learned this after many years using it, I don't think there is an original part on it. I don't use the dead primer bucket that came with it. I put an empty and noisy trash can under it. The dead primers fall in and make a sound when they hit the bottom, I now know the primer is out. No noise and I check for a hang up. I lube bearing surfaces with Frog Lube. Make sure your springs are fresh. I just got a new caliber conversion and the shell plate had burrs that hung it up when auto indexing. Quick file work fixed that.
  6. RDA, I didn't know Hornady made One Shot gun cleaner. Yes, One Shot case lube. Yesterday I did some more resizing with more case lube than before. I did pre-lube the die as well. No buckling or wash boarding of the brass. Some resized effortlessly some took effort but at least it was slippery effort.. What should one look for regarding over used brass? Are there tell tail signs? I reload lots of 9mm and .38spl and I have no trouble finding one fired brass lying around. .38 super not so much so I find myself trying to use what I can find. I just bought some that I haven't tried yet, supposed to be good condition once fired but we'll see.
  7. I already use a "D" mainspring and a Wolff trigger return unit. I do like the barrel cut and recrown, it has the Elite look.
  8. Roger that Top! I use Hornady One Shot. I sprayed my brass the usual amount but I plan to use more next time and spray the die too. They are brand new dies.
  9. So my question is in regards to range brass. I just started reloading .38 super. Not for a race gun, just for fun. I learned long ago to not pick up 9mm brass after a USPSA match that had open category shooters. I have some .38 super brass from an unknown source. It looks OK but when resizing some of them seemed to buckle a little near the mouth. Would this be sign of worn out brass? Sort of a wash board effect. Thanks, 19852
  10. Folks, I am just getting into loading for the Super. I have many years experience with loading the 9mm, .38spl and .45 ACP. For bullets I am going to use some 9mm sized 135gr. Green Bullets from Donnie. For powder I have Ramshot Competition and VV N320. Typically I use the N320 for important matches and the Comp for monthly matches and practice. My goal is a minor PF load suitable for IDPA ESP div and SS minor. My Ramshot Comp load in 9mm is 3.9gr under a 124 Extreme. I'm not sure where to go with a 135gr coated bullet. Bigger case, less pressure - heavier bullet at a slightly lower velocity.. Any ideas appreciated. Best, 19852
  11. Who makes a .40 Single Stack 1911? I can think of two: STI and Dan Wesson. Anyone else? Best, 19852
  12. I would like to make all the divisions governed by PF, even CDP. But that's me. My take on it is this; if the .40 were allowed the Glock 35 would rule CDP. Right now I don't shoot CDP, don't own a .45 pistol. Most often you'll find me in SSR or SSP.
  13. I'm on my 2nd 5000 of Tula primers. No issues in any of my pistols. 1) I don't own any striker fired pistols. 2) All except my Beretta [D spring] have full power mainsprings.
  14. The one I have. A S&W M13 3" RB. Getting a 4" M10 to save wear and tear on the 13.
  15. My pre-B 75 has been very reliable from day one with zero broken parts. I have a lot of rounds through it, maybe as many as 15,000. I do keep spare springs and a 2nd slide stop.
  16. I had one for a while but I was faster with a CZ 75 SAO. The CZ has the advantage of plentiful, reliable 10 round plus magazines.
  17. A Glock 19 that didn't last long in my ownership. Went to a SIG P-220 that got me classified MM in SSP. Then for a while due to financial issues my only handgun was a S&W M10 skinny barrel revolver. All good fun.
  18. Titegroup burned/melted the FO sight on my CZ for as long as I used it. I thought that was normal for a FO sight until I ran out of Titegroup. Haven't replaced the FO rod since. I like N320 and when I want a replacement I use Ramshot Competition.
  19. My idea of mixing it up means switching between revolver and pistol. Right now it's revolver.
  20. Thanks! I was thinking crimp. The bullet in question is an Xtreme bullet, .38 158gr RNFN. I'm using a fast powder, Ramshot Competition right at max book load. I have not chrono' ed this load yet.
  21. Going on my second batch of 5000 Tula primers. Only one failure to fire on a .38 spl. Looked like a light hit so maybe the primer wasn't seated all the way. It went boom on the second try. All my pistols have full strength mainsprings, all hammer fired.
  22. What factors would lead to tumbling in plated bullets? What should I look for/watch out for? Started using plated bullets recently after a long stint with coated bullets. I had bad results with a batch of Berry's a few years back. Thanks, 19852
  23. I really like Bayou Bullets 160 gr RN. Used with VV N320 a very clean load.
  24. When I was relatively new to reloading I came across some Norma R-1. Given to me by a guy who was getting out of reloading. I used it with some 124gr bullets I think, I'll have to look it up. I went with a minimum load and found it quite light in recoil. However, a wiser reloader than I when inspecting my spent cases noticed signs of overpressure and warned me. I gave up on R-1 and used the remainder on a fire ant mound.. Now use VV N320
  25. I had a batch of Berrys bullets that key holed in my CZ and Beretta. My HK P-30 was the only pistol that didn't keyhole with that load. Not an accurate load out of the HK but at least they didn't tumble. Just stopped using Berrys. Now use Bayou Bullets. Good accuracy out of all pistols.
