  1. You can put a rifle length gas system on a 16" barrel. Its all about port location and size. Honestly though.....look at getting a Noveske 16" barrel with an intermediate gas port location. Intermediate is 1.5" shorter than a rifle gas system. It works extremely well on 16" barrels Carbine length= 7" Midlength= 9" Intermediate= 10.5" Rifle= 12"
  2. They make nice stuff. Mark Peltier is somehow associated with them. I believe he has alot of info on them. He stops by pretty regularly.
  3. Also consider first and second focal plane reticles. The USO and S&B scopes are first/front focal plane. There are one or two Short Dots that are rear but have a dot type reticle with no stadia tree. The new Lund reticle in the USO scope is in the rear focal plane. Front/first focal plane reticles increase in size with increase in magnification. Rear/second plane reticles do not. They are constant. I cannot stand a front focal plane reticle on a low power optic. I have had all the scopes you listed. I now have a Swarovski Z6. I think it is the best thing going for 3 gun IMO. The one compromise is the turrets. I'd prefer them to be like Leupolds Mk4 M3 turrets. But they work well as they are and as little as I do dial.....its the compromise. If the cost is the real issue....then I would consider the Meopta. For the money....I really like it. Rumor is that Meopta will unveil their new scope at SHOT in January. Its been in the works for the past 2 years. I also really want to get my hands on a Pitbull to give it a shake even though its not daylight illuminated although my luck with IOR in the past has been horrendous. Its a neat optic.
  4. Hope you all have a great birthday.  Especially you Linda!! What would we do without you?
  5. I like the ML3 with 2moa dot. I really like the reticle and design of the Eotech but they are just not reliable. I have had three Eotechs and they all have had problems. I've had 4 Aimpoints and still have 3. I still have not changed the batteries on any of them and they have never given the slightest hint of trouble.
  6. Mig......that is SOOO Awesome!!!  Huge congrats to your wife for such an unbelievable accomplishment. Your a lucky guy. See you in a few weeks at the most awesome 3 gun match in the country.
  7. For a 3 gun barrel.....stay away from the SPR contour unless you plan on getting it turned down. Its way too heavy. Get a 16" with the intermediate gas system if available. That barrel weighs almost 32 ounces. The SPR is almost 39. I run the 17" rifle gas and turn it down on the lathe and flute it to a weight of 28.5 ounces. And then I add another 5 ounces back with the addition of the SJC Titan comp.
  8. I think Noveske makes one of the finest barrels for the money. They are expensive.....but they also last longer than many other barrels. Also consider accuracy. They are capable of 1/2-3/4 moa. Yeah....on a bench off sandbags. I'd prefer to have a barrel capable of that kind of accuracy because when the buzzer goes off and the stress is rolling......you'll be lucky if you can get 2.5 moa. So having that kind of margin is nice under stress. When you buy a Noveske.....you get everything you pay for and then some. I have an 18" Noveske barrel(1/2 moa when new) with 15k rounds through it with only about a 1/4 moa loss of accuracy over those rounds fired. I've got a Lilja barrel with 6000 rounds that shows twice the wear in the throat than the 15k round Noveske and its never shot better than 1 moa.
  9. My preference for an iron sighted patrol rifle would be 16" barreled midlength or intermediate length gas system with a rifle length freefloat tube(low profile gas block under handguard). For me....I would prefer a Noveske N4(they pin there low pro gas blocks to the barrel). I would use the VTAC/Troy Extreme 13" rail (awesome user configurable rail)for good controllability and sight radius. I would mount a Streamlight TLR1 or Surefire X300(pistol weapon lights) on the extreme end of the rail on the end of the handguard at the 12 o'clock position. I would then add a Daniel Defense fixed front sight butting up to the rear of the paddle switch of the light. This light position allows for ambidextrous activation and puts it in a universal position for shooting around barricades and over barricades. Its the best position I have found to date to mount a white light on the carbine. I like the LaRue rear BUIS and the LMT rear sight. If you want A2 style....use the LMT. If you like the A1 style and want a small sight that crosses over for a BUIS when RDS policy comes to fruition.....then LaRue is the ticket. Add a Trijicon brand tritium front sight post and your GTG. I have a huge preference for the Blue Force Gear Vickers sling......Victory model. It is an adjustable 2 point. Add a good reliable trigger like the JP,stock of your liking and I think that will make you a damn fine patrol carbine that will double as an excellent competition carbine as well. And yes......1/7 twists do fine with 55 grain bullets.
  10. First pic......but start with just one hole about .125" (1/8") I actually like to cut a slot .100" front to back and .200" side to side
  11. The T2 handles the extra gas from a 9major load more efficiently and tames the dot track much better. The T1 works for major but the T2 works much better.
  12. I can tell much difference between the gas systems. Much sharper impulse the shorter it is. I feel it and see it in my follow through with the sights. The only one I can't see much difference in is intermediate(10.5") vs. rifle length(12"). And the ones I've shot were pretty spot on apples for apples comparisons.
  13. The reason those guys run the PRS stock is to balance the rifle....hence the weight. Its also nice to have the adjustability and durability there in case you have to go to the ground and clear a malfunction. The overall weight of the gun may be heavy but the actual weight you are holding out at the forend is much decreased and aides a ton in offhand stability. Notice how the guns in the video just shoot so flat. Thanks to the Titan comps being so effective. None of those guns have lightened reciprocating mass or adjustable gas.
  14. I carry mine everyday in a Comp-Tac Infidel IWB holster. Been carrying in that holster for going on 4 years now. I love it.
  15. The way I see pricing for optics Low price= less than $500 Mid Price= $500-$1200 High Price= $1200-$2000 Extremely High Priced= $2000+ There is nothing cheap about quality optics
  16. Rock on Tony!!!  Just curious.....who was playing in your ear when it happened? Pantera? Megadeth?
  17. I'll answer for Ronnie since I emailed him asking the same thing. USPSA 3 gun rules is what they will run. Round count for each gun will be about 60-70 each but bring 100 just in case.
  18. Yeah....I was recommending my favorite mid priced optics. I think the Z6i is the best thing going right now. I don't think too highly of the Short Dot though.
  19. After rereading this thread in its entirety, several responses were removed that were viewed to have dramatically drifted this thread. In an attempt to steer the thread back on track with its original intent of "High Lady" and "Special Category" awards, your reply may not be here anymore. Please stick to the topic at hand. -Mod Squad
  20. For a good all around 3 gun rifle....I'd stick to the true 1x-4 variables. For mid priced optics I always suggest the Meopta Kdot first,Trijicon TR24 second, and Burris XTR1-4 third. One of this optics will do anything you need for 3 gun and double duty for a great tac rifle too. True 1 power and daytime visible illuminated reticle are huge factors when I choose a scope for this game or tac use.
  21. Todd: I am really not sure why this matter is even in the MG Forum section. Should it not be in the general match section since nothing being discussed here is unique to MG? Charles....because it was about how the "High Lady"award was given at a recent multigun match and it has morphed into more. It could survive in either forum but originated as a reference to the recent FNH multigun match. This forums content is about Multigun Rules/Stage Design/and Match Administration. Seems like it fits fine here. It just need not derail any more than it already has in order to remain open.
  22. Based on this thread I gave Chrome a shot. I must say I really like it. It also works great for a Netbook. Much better IMO than IE.
  23. OK.....this is an official warning to not let this thread ensue into a back and forth argument. That will be the fastest way to get it closed. There has been way too much of that in the past week in this forum already. -MOD SQUAD
  24. Consider getting a smaller Pelican or Storm case and disassemble the shotgun and AR. Store them for transport and then roll up and pack your soft case for transport at the match. The smaller cases are much easier to transport in your vehicle and when you have to pick it up off the luggage conveyor. It also does not look so much like a rifle case and draws less attention. Oh....and did you guys move?
