  1. Perhaps a powder-thru expander die if you're using that option. You've listed everything else I can think of, but you really only need 3 bushings at minimum.
  2. I got my packet yesterday and sent the form back out today, shooter number 377 I believe (got slot 7 in the reservation system). It was just a release/agreement form to sign and another form for squadding requests. Anybody wanna be my friend? I was amused that 75% of the form was filling out my name/address which they already know because they mailed it to me...
  3. .385" is the preferred dimension for full-length sized ammo with an EGW undersized die. .390-.395" would be about right for more conventional ammo.
  4. I got the P2000 control lever in. After some experimentation I just ground down the lever that hits the firing pin block. It works and reset is shorter, about like my P2000. However after comparing with some other P30 owners, this may only work with the P30S (safety), which is what I have. The control lever in the other P30s was already the same as the P2000 version.
  5. Numrich Gun Parts (e-gunparts.com) has the FPB spring, their part number 602840 Or you can call HK (number on web site) and order from their customer service dept using the HK part number I mentioned. They're actually about the same price either place. I'll try to remember to follow up here with results when my new control lever gets in.
  6. Yes, the same mainspring is used in the USP, P2000 and P30. You can download the user manuals for the respective guns from HK and see the part numbers for yourself if you want proof. I had a Wolff 10lb mainspring on my USP expert that I used for competition, and it never failed to fire with WSP primers. I just got a P30 V3 and have already installed a 12lb mainspring from Wolff (last night) but haven't got to test it yet. To further lighten the P30 trigger you can replace the firing pin block spring with one from a USP, HK p/n 214192. Or if it's a competition-only gun, and not production class, just remove it. I'm also experimenting with replacing the "control lever", the lever that pushes up the firing pin block, with one from a P2000. I swapped in one from my P2000SK (same p/n as on the P2000) and the trigger reset was reduced by probably 2/3rds, down to what my P2000SK was. However the lever was just a tad too tall and hits the firing pin block so you can't get the slide all the way on. I have another lever coming from HK so I can try filing it down a hair without breaking my P2000SK. I don't know why they changed that control lever, but it's the only part different between the 2000 and P30 assemblies.
  7. Woot! Limited #7 offered up and paid for. Vegas or bust! Check your classification page frequently guys, I never got an email either time. Nor is it in my spam folder.
  8. No worries about the thread hijack. If you look I started this almost 3 years ago. I'm pretty much healed up now. I still do not have the strength in my left arm that I had -- Weak hand shots are terrible because the gun shakes. Other than that I can shoot fine. I've noticed that after the surgery you do have to keep up on the strengthening exercises. I will probably be doing those the rest of my life I had some minor Plantar Fascitis last year. I went to the foot doc and he made me some custom inserts/supports and recommended a heel cushion. Since then it's been fine. I have a high arch, the opposite of flat feet, maybe you do too. The high arch is good for support but not for shock absorbtion, thus the heel cushions.
  9. Can you give us a rough idea of how many slots are available for the waiting list in each division? Thus if my number on the list is close to or less than the number of slots offered, I can be reasonably sure it's safe to ask for the vacation time now
  10. The story I heard was that one of the ROs shot and broke one of the props during the RO match. It was early on so they changed to the hard cover and reshot those who needed. I have no problem with the change itself, sh*t happens and they dealt with it. I think the problem was the hard cover wasn't staked down. I don't want to rag on them too much, this match was an immense amount of work and I've got nothing but admiration for those who put it on. They were good and fun stages. Congrats on the 4th place Limited finish!
  11. I would start with the Limited, and then add: Henning's aluminum grips (essential for smaller hands) 4 of Henning's mags with extensions (or buy extensions/followers/springs for your current mags). Henning's 10.75lb recoil spring (assuming you're running reloads that are near 165PF and not factory ammo) Belt and mag holders (your choice, I use CR speed) Blade-tech DOH holster Optional would be Henning's flat trigger, depending on the size of your lady's hands. My wife needs it on her gun. Season with grip tape to taste. On the "short list" of improvements after the initial gun is together and she likes it: 13lb hammer spring Henning light firing pin A full length pass-thru type case sizer for reloading use. Once she gets into it you can start looking at other things like magwells (stock still working fine for me), flat triggers, hammers, sears, conefit guiderod (for wear, you'll be OK with the stocker for several thousand rounds and should know by then whether she'll be keeping the gun).
  12. 7th on the list in Limited. I assume a slot is all but guaranteed.
  13. Inconsistent ROing and application of the rules. When I shot on Friday the ROs specifically said you were prohibited from supporting your shooting hand on the barricade (which is part of the shooting box). The rules specifically say otherwise but I really didn't make a point of it since I didn't plan to support myself. The next day I saw people shooting while supporting their non-shooting hand on the barricade (which is against the rules) and not getting procedurals. I don't feel it was an advantage to let them do so in this case, but someone must have complained. I was also a little upset that in stage 7 either a target or steel hard cover was moved between Friday and Saturday. When my squad shot there was no lower A zone visible on a particular target from the start position, taking a big step to the right exposed an inch or two. On Saturday there was about half the A zone visible from the start position. I don't even know how you go about disputing that or proving it without pictures.
  14. I finished up the match today. It was very smoothy and professionally run and the staff was great to work with. The stages were fun and challenging, except one I had an issue with how it was ran inconsistently, but this isn't the place... Vendors area was sparse and I don't think I ever saw more than one booth manned, but that's not a reason I go to these matches. The banquet Friday night was great. Good food, good service, and great company. ... and wonder of wonders I'm winning Lim C so far. That will probably change tomorrow when another guy who's pulling down A level scores so far finishes. Oh, and I appreciated the efforts at dust control! They had a dedicated water truck doing it's job all day both days, and I believe it was even a real dust control liquid (Potassium Chloride I think?) and not just plain water.
  15. Ouch is right on the reload! So if I'm doing a standard exercise which requires a mandatory reload then 2 shots strong hand and and I blow off the reload and continue shooting through freestyle -- 4 procedurals? Ouch! This is because the "missing a mandatory reload" isn't one of "the above cases" mentioned in 10.2.3, and is in fact below it, right?
  16. From the rule book: 10.2.3 Where multiple penalties are assessed in the above cases, they must not exceed the maximum number of scoring hits that can be attained by the competitor. For example, a competitor who gains an advantage while faulting a Fault Line where only four metal targets are visible will receive one procedural penalty for each shot fired while faulting, up to a maximum Does this apply if the procedurals are from different things? For example if there is one target available that requires two hits and is specified strong hand only. I shoot it twice freestyle while simultaneously faulting the shooting boundary. 2 procedurals or 4 (maybe 3 if the fault didn't give an advantage)?
  17. I've had my LNL AP for 4 years now and probably 10,000 rounds. One mangled case retaining spring and one "pulley" that came off the primer slide. Hornady support made both right without question. I know Dillon has world class support, but have you ever heard anyone complain about Hornady's support? It's just as good IMO! My only problems are with the case feeder. With .40S&W about 1 in 50 will not fall out of the feeder and jam at the far end of the drop window, and about 1 in 200 will wedge sideways in the chute just below that. I haven't called Hornady yet to see what they say about it.
  18. That should be just about right. 4.2g of TG under a Rainier 180 plated at 1.135 just barely makes major out of my USP Expert -- which is also a polygonal barrel about the same length as yours. I went to 4.4gr for my final match load since the recoil difference was negligible and it gave me a very comfortable safety margin on the chrono (172PF on average, got 178PF one match).
  19. Use a reduced recoil slug if wear on the gun concerns you. The Winchester winlite slugs work great in mine.
  20. Why not just shoot 10mm? I know a guy who shoots a 10mm Glock in limited and he loves it. He says the brass lasts forever when downloaded to 165PF and he gets more of his brass back because nobody else wants it.
  21. I just put a small square of grip tape over the slide lock lever hole. Not so much for looks but just so everyone would stop pointing out that I have a hole in my slide. Funny, nobody has asked why I feel the need for grip tape up there.
  22. The henning guide rod will stop some frame peening. The slide stop pin is also known to be a weak point. I'd buy a Henning replacement but continue to run your stock one until it's worn or fails -- it should be about ready for an oversized hardened pin by then. The .385 figure (assuming this is a .40?) for the mag lips is for full-length pass-thru sized (like with a Gizmo case sizer) brass done with an EGW-U die (props to ChaLee for his work figuring this out). I don't know the figure for other brass as I never could get mine 100% without it... I highly recommend one. 1.225 with Montana Gold CMJs works for me. It's the mag release not the slide stop that holds it too low. I don't think that problem part ever came with a Witness Match, just the stock Witnesses <= 2005. The hammer and sear aren't urgent to replace, the stock ones will last at least a few seasons. A trigger job is a better reason to replace them You'll probably be replacing springs with weights more optimized for competition too, but this isn't really a longevity issue.
  23. Really nice! So, did you fill in the front sight and run without a fiber or is it just not installed yet?
  24. Hey, it was great shooting with you. Your a class act and really rocked some stages. Hope to see you at a match in the future. Perhaps the NW challenge?? Anders Results are posted! http://www.ewpsa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=116:resmay10&catid=34:final&Itemid=28 Thank you all for coming to the match! It was fun for us RO's even with the heat. The RO match on Saturday was even hotter. What a weird hot flash in the weather, it was 70 degress Friday and is again today. 89 total entries, 3 DQs 180, loaded gun knocked out of a race holster, and an ND. I'm relieved that none of the DQs were directly due to the briefcase or wet-hands. If you liked the wet hands stage, wait until next year when we do the "changing your motor oil under the car" oily-hands stage ;-) Start position: lying under car with hands in bucket of used motor oil, handgun buried in kitty litter...
  25. Book: Awesome. Movie: Terrible. I think the writers of the movie may have at one point been in the same room with the book... that's about it.
