  1. I agree with Flex but would expand this to include weak and strong hand. An area I need to work on.
  2. I use bladetech holsters in Production, Limited and Revolver as well as carry. I want to be consistant with the same type holster no matter what I am shooting. Altough, I do use a DOH for USPSA.
  3. I recently got certified as an RO. The past two matches where I have RO'd, I have noticed my shooting has suffered quite a bit. I am not visualizing my plan and am making stupid mistakes. I need to revamp my pre stage routine to better focus on my shooting.
  4. I shoot a Glock 34 in production. It is very reliable and eats almost any ammo. Any accuracy issues are solely my fault. The real advange I see is the ability of aftermarket parts and the Advantage Arms 22 conversion kit. Cheap practice using the same trigger helps.
  5. .23 Chrono your rounds before the match. I saw 2 guys shooting production not make minor at Area 5.
  6. I have used about 5k small pistol in a glock without any problems.
  7. In a class Travis Tomasie stated that he preferred a black front iorn sight to help with accuracy - you have to really focus hard and find the sight picture. He felt the difference in speed was insignificant. Basically it seems that the black front post keeps you from getting lazy in establishing the proper front sight picture.
  8. I use shoot glocks and use the EGW undersize die for both 9mm and .40. I gauge all my rounds and it decreased the number of rejects in .40 quite a bit - It is about the same with 9mm
  9. On thing which helped me was to get more of the palm of the support hand on the grip. To do this I know cock my wrist so if I extend the fingers of my support hand they point down at a 45 degree angle.
  10. If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

Love your Aussies! I have one that looks like the one on the lefts twin.

  11. Welcome - I hope to see you shooting at Crooked Creek. I grew up in Elyria and now live in Painesville
  12. During a class in KY while practicing movement drills during a downpour Travis gave us the following good natured tip - " If your practice these drills for 9 hours a day for 10 years you may actually get good at them." He went on to say " It is truely amazing what the human body can do with enough repetition."
  13. I just sent in my application today.
  14. I was in that class with you. What impressed me the most, by the way they interact you can tell they have spent weeks on the range perfecting each technique that they teach. Then they give solid explinations why the perform a technique is specific way. Great Class, truely nice guys. Now comes the tough part of lots of practicing and then trying to replicate what they teach in a match.
  15. here are pictures of emma and buddy. They are really sweet dogs.
  16. Six months ago we adopted a 2 year old male Swiss Mountain Dog /mix (80 lbs)named Buddy. Over the weekend we adopted a 3 year old female Bernese Mountain Dog / mix (80 lbs) named Emma. Unfortunatley both dogs had been neglected and mistreated in the past. Right now they are doing fine and one of the highlights of the day is taking them on their morning walk. They are both well mannered and sweet dogs who never fail to bring a smile to face with there wagging tails and excitement when I come home from work.
  17. In N.E. Ohio most of the clubs shoot USPSA. Go to practicalpistol.net and check out the other places to shoot link. There you will find a summary of where to shoot every weekend in the region. Practicalpistol.net is the home page for Crooked Creek Conservation Club. They host a steel shoot generally the 1st Saturday of the month and a USPSA match the 4th Sunday of the month. You are welcome to join us at any day.
  18. As Tiger is rejoining the PGA I have noticed some comments from "experts" on how he mentally prepares for a match. I feel that there is some correlation to our sport. First, When Tiger was in a play off at a major match his competator mentioned that he thought he could beat Tiger. Tiger's reply was that he already had the advantage because he was focusing on beating the golf course. Second, he has had the same preshot routine since he was 14 years old. He finds great comfort and strength is this routine and it enables him to forget a bad shot and soley focus on the shot at hand. Third, He spends hours fine tuning the even smallest aspects of his game. Conclusion, I need to change my mindset from "I hope I do well" on this stage to a mindset that if I shoot each course of fire to the best of my ability - I can beat anyone in my class. I need to develop and visualize a more in depth pre stage routine that I focus on every aspect of the course of fire. Hopefully then my plan won't go to hell when the buzzer goes off. Finally, I need to keep up with a regular dry fire routine.
  19. I shoot production with 9mm and use Montana Gold 147 CMJ. For me the 147 grain (heavier bullet)seems to knock down steel better. That is important at local matches where the steel may not be set up as carefully as larger matches. I use CMJ because I load with titegroup which is a fast powder. The CMJ eliminates most smoke (lead dust). If you shoot a larger bullet with a fast powder out of production gun generally feels softer. A lighter bullet usually feels snappier. It all depends what you like. I hope this helps.
  20. I have seen a shooter with a pinned grip safety trip and fall during a course of fire. The gun fell and the trigger hit a stone. The resulting shot went up range and narrowly missed a fellow shooter. Scary to say the least.
  21. Welcome, My wife is from Finland and I plan on visiting Finland again the summer of 2011 for her family reunion. It would be fun to watch one of your matches.
  22. I load for my glock 34 with a 147 grain CMJ Montana gold, 1.35 OAL and 3.4 grains of Tight group. I know of several guys who use this recipe with lots of success.
  23. Matt, I am looking forward to your match. Let us know when the RO school is scheduled so we can attend and help with the match.
  24. My Kimber .22 conversion works great - however if you have a magwell you have to shave the bottom of the magazine to ensure it fits properly.
  25. I have been doing these drills for two weeks and have seen a noticable improvement in my gun handeling skills. The variety and par times makes dry firing a challenge. Thanks this is a great posting
