  1. Brass Chickens-- the guy(s) that just have to get all the brass right now. Targets taped, stages reset. Shooter and SO waiting-- and they're still downrange pecking up the brass.
  2. I hadn't experienced this when browsing the "live" forum posts. I just did a BING search on a topic. One of the items returned was an older post from here. When I clicked on it-- I got redirected. Win 8 IE 10 AVG anti-virus and it still made it through to the other site
  3. If I am going to make a major foul up, either in poor hits or stage errors, its in the first stage of a match. I've found that it's caused by two things, both of which I can control. One is getting rushed. I've found if I get there early, gear up, then stand around and visit--that helps. The other is not starting to think about whom I'm shooting with and my score-- I'll catch myself saying "I'd better shoot faster than so and so...". That little voice also carries on through the match. So I stop beginning to worry about the score, concentrate on getting my grove and enjoy the trigger time for the rest of the match.
  4. Manufacturing changes, supplier changes and the like=occasional whoops. Try getting someone at Ford, for example, to even talk you through a fix, much less send you the parts for free. I bought my Dillon gear primarily for this reason-- *should* it break, I knew it would get fixed.
  5. Letterman had a comment last night re: hi cap mags. His comments weren't over the top, but yet still made.
  6. Around 6k this year-- low year-- too much work got in the way
  7. My G34 runs fine with the 147g lighter power factor (IDPA) loads w/ Tite Group. I shot about 1k rounds of 147g and about the same # of 124g during a couple of months time frame I decided I preferred the 124g-- the pistol didn't care.
  8. Not certain what headaches are caused for you by a YAHOO account-- but running a mail server at home without a good bit of experience/expertise in the security-related aspects will most certainly cause you headaches. If its just to get a more personal email address, consider others' suggestions about obtaining just the domain name and then point that to a commercial hoisting service. One item to watch out for are, as others have mentioned are spam blacklists. Many go by IP addresses or blocks and a commercial hosting service that not too discriminating will get your mail on the lists. Another item to consider is once you've distributed your private-label email addresses , you've got to keep them available somehow should you get tired of running your own physical server(s).
  9. New install of WIN 8 IE 10 When starting new post or entering a reply to a post, unable to use ENTER key to effect a CR and start a new line. Just me or others too ?
  10. Update Spoke with Dillon folks. They're sending me a "fine tuning kit' (which contains ??). I was looking closer at how the shell plate is rotated. There's a peg, mounted with two screws that the index ring pushes against. As the shell plate didn't appear to rotate far enough clockwise, I moved the peg just a hair inward, causing the shell plate to rotate more. So far so good-- loaded 250 rounds without the original problem. I did notice a slight "bump" on the upstroke. Maybe Dillon's kit will fix this. Sorry for the long paragraph. I cant get the RETURN key to enter a CR now.....
  11. I'll watch 1-2 shoot before me. I watch for their overall treatment of the stage. After that I don't watch before I myself shoot . I'll visit a bit and tape. I try to review a stage up front, decide how best to run it for my abilities, then stick to the plan. It becomes a focus issue--concentrate on my pattern and movements. I also try not to listen to the cadence of others' shots. Too many times I hear people saying, after watching another shooter, Oh, I'm going to try that instead.... or I am going to shoot faster than that....then fumble through their turn, looking hesitant and confused. Now- after I shoot, I'll watch my squad-mates shoot with an eye for picking up a better move, better plan etc.
  12. Personally, I feel Caning is a more appropriate punishment Force them to use a Mac..... J/K It's become a full time job to keep up with a forum site. Hats off to those that do so !
  13. Took the primer assy off. Removed the wheel. Cleaned-didn't seem very dirty Back in place. Cycled unit wo brass or primers. Looked ok. Added primers and brass. Ran only 7 rounds and stuck again. Same issue-primer seating pin hitting shellplate's barely on the Frornt side of the hole . shellplate's not advancing fully Shellplate's not loose but not so tight it can't be move by hand. It snaps into place when moved It seems as if the brass gets placed in the shell place crooked?? As when Its jammed, I have to pull it out of the check station a bit forcefully.
  14. Year old 650 . Probably 3k through it so far It has started to jam on the downstroke. Upon inspection, after cussin a bit, it seems that the primer seating pin is hitting the front of the shellplate's hole. Is that what folks say Dillon sends them an alignment tool as the fix ? I dont change caliber. What causes this ? Just usage ?
  15. My comments are a bit off the thread about illegal equipment--but they apply there too. I'm of the opinion that allowing very lax enforcement of the IDPA rules in a match is a disadvantage to the shooter. There's a place for some leeway - ie in less-formal matches no penalies for minor infractions such as allowing extra cover calls, and similar. But consistantly lax enforcement easily turns into a disadvantage when the shooter in question attends another club's match and amasses a ton of penalties for previously unknown reasons. Worse yet, its feasable that they could not be allowed to participate due to uncorrectable equipment violations. I myself appreaciate the SO calling a penalty as I feel it makes me a better shooter-- ok-- eventually.... As an equipment example, I'd been wearing my mag pouches in the same location for months. I went to shoot at a state match and during the equipment check, I was informed they were too far forward of the official location. That's OK-- I reviewed the rule book and agreed. But it threw off my reloads a bit. I kept fumbling for the secord, rear mag. If I or someone had noticed their placement was noticably off in previous matches, I may have shaved a few seconds. I am definatly not in favor of lax enforcement of safety-related infractions, such as a previous question about appendix carry. Some say it's a tough call with new shooters especially-- don't want to run them off, discourage them, etc. But-- safety is safety. I stopped shooting for a good while with a group near here because of the lax enforecement of safety infractions. I stop in now and then to shoot with them. Those running the show there have become much more aware and at least now take the shooter off to the side for a talkin' to.

    Ouch...

Had a smashed finger -- Went to the doctor . He took out an burner, unfolded a paperclip, heated it, and melted a whole in the nail. $50.... Previous and the most recent finger smashing (from resetting a clamshell device) I followed a similar process with the addition of a few tequila shots.
  17. I saw a post somewhere about using an L shaped piece of flat metal stock. I made one that slides under the advancing arm, preventing it's pin from fitting in the disc's hole to effect an advance. I'd post a pic but never can figure out how to on here :-( Here's a Tube video that shows another's similar idea.
  18. Interesting discussion-- Nothing serious happening around me thank goodness. Hope those who commented of such are able to get settled. I've always felt taking a break from troublesome situations has helped. A break is not ignoring, but just changing someting, whether it be a physical change, or forcing my attitude/perception change. I found myself just going to a match, going through the motions of shooting it and not getting any better. I got to feeling it was just a habit to go shoot at a match, rather than wanting to go. I decided it was time to take a break. I continued to shoot 1-2 times a month, but not at a match. Taking a few month match break worked. An interest in improving is back and it's fun again. Some of the bad habits left too ! Folks have a quote or saying-- I'll add mine "...Every now and then I know it's kinda hard to tell but... I'm still alive and well..."-- Johnny Winter, That Beaumont Boy
  19. Try a set of tabs cut from from a milk jug
  20. Finally-- I got a chance to go shoot some of these rounds. I set the OAL at 1.13-.15. I was concerned that the roundnose wouldnt feed properly. The ker-whatever test was accurate :-) They ran OK in my G34. Two no fires out of 100+ shots at a match. No misfeeds/jams. Neither had strikes on the primer . I guess its time to get out the cleaning kit. I was a bit suprised the speed was a little less that I expected with the powder/load, but perhaps that's because they bullet was seated a bit higher eh. I'll fiddle with the load a bit. As always-- thanks for the insight--
  21. The CZ forum diagram makes sense. When I set a variety of factory rounds in the barrell, none of them sit flush with the edge of the barrell as per the diagram. They all pass Sarge's kerplunk test so none are too long The difference between the round nose and flat nose bullets is .034 Should the difference between the OAL of the completed round nose and the flat nose be the same OAL round is 1.152 soothe OAL of the flat one should be 1.118ish Am I. On the right track here ? Excuse the typing. On an iPad...
  22. Im trying some new bullets. How does one tell if the bullet is sitting on the rifling when checking in a barrel ? I've looked at factory rounds and my loads in both the barrel and the case gauge. They look the same to my naked eye. MG 147 CMJ 9mm. OAL is 1.126 Factory is 1.153 First few test rounds fed ok. Before I load up a ton more, thought it best to check into this
  23. Similar problem on my 650 earlier this week-- primer seating punch wouldnt retract fully. The Dillon guy said it cant be taken apart as its pressed together. He suggested spraying it generoualy with spray cleaner . I used brake cleaner. Some goo came out. Powder residue I assume. Its now sitting flush and working. The Dillon guy did offer to send a new one if cleaning it didnt work-- cool !
  24. Does it have enough play to use as an IWB/OWB holster or do you use different belts for each form of carry? I use the same belt for both.
  25. I've worn one almomst daily for 6+ years. I've been quite pleased with it as a daily IWB holster carry belt and OWB holster for competitions. The velcro is finally getting a bit worn so the end doesnt always stick. I just ordered another one last week. THe company has some sort of trade in deal for old belts. I decided to just keep my old friend.
