  1. On reflection and considering that the start position is listed in the stage description and should be mentioned in the briefing it seems dedundant to ask a shooter to load and make ready. If the RO for example instructs the shooter by saying "competitor make ready" and the start position is unloaded on a table or loaded and holstered or unloaded there should be no problem.
  2. Vince we pretty much do what the proposed rule states at the moment where I shoot, seems like common sense. Putting it in writing sounds ilke a good idea to me.
  3. I live in Australia, the max calibre our govenment will let us have is 38 Super. I am just playing with the idea at the moment probably won't happen just wondering what would be involved.
  4. The way I understand it Bushnell own Tasco, the scopes that Tasco released were made by a third party in Japan. There is rumor that they may be trying to re-release the old Tasco scopes under a new name but only rumor.
  5. Excellent ... I'm thinking of buying a trubor barrel and comp and getting it fitted to my standard 5" STI adding a scope and having a standard/open class blaster it will be long and heavy but a lot cheaper than buying a second gun simply to play in open class BTW, I had a look at the website in your sig too... some very nice work there =)
  6. Hi all, I have an STI with a full length dust cover and was wondering if it is as easy as it looks to drop a compensated STI barrel in, stick a scope on and shoot open class with it? Obviously it would take some gunsmithing time but is it simply that easy?
  7. Just a question, has the gun fallen out or do you think it will? I have an 012 and have never had problems with retention, but I shoot standard. The only way it comes out is if it is liftted straight up, ive tried hitting the mag well while it's holstered and it does not budge. Just make sure you have the proper insert for it, there is a small plastic strip in the holster that is used for round trigger guards, make sure it is not in there whan you use an S_I
  8. Thanks for the thread SmittyFL, seems to be more common than I first thought =( I saw a post before about some S_I triggers also being different lengths, I had a gunsmith blank fitted with a curved face for an extra long trigger and I'm wondering if that also may be contributing to it.. I guess I will just have to keep trying.
  9. Hey all, I have a custom built STI and have had a heap of trouble with it doubling and following to the half cock notch ... best trigger pull I can get is about 3 lbs I would like it closer to 2. Anyway, I have had a look at the sear and it has marks in the surface that engages the hammer hooks about half way in, these marks match the hammer hooks perfectly. The hammer hooks seem to be the correct length at 20 thou. Are these marks normal or is the sear/hammer engagement wrong and needs to be fixed? To me it seems that the hammer/sear are not square and are not mating up correctly The gunsmith that built it has already replaced the hammer, sear and disconnector and looked at the pistol about 4 times. I am losing faith. One thing I did notice is when the smith cut the sear he did not use external hammer and sear pins onlya jig. I've been reading this forum for a while and have heard of better results with off the shelf components. Maybe I should bite the bullet and get an SV tri-glide trigger kit and an EGW sear drop em in and see what happens.
  10. Try this link they have worked for me in the past in the same situation http://www.space.net.au/~thomas/quickbrowse.html
  11. I would have to say that for me it would be "dont force it!" If you prepare properly, get as ready as you can and just (try to) relax and let it all happen the outcome will (hopfully) look after itself. Even if it doesn't it's still fun. Just as a side note it's interesting to see how people see things differently. Some people list an action or technique i.e. watch sights, call shots etc is important. Others tend more toward dealing with expectations, how shooting feels, and the mental side of it... Just goes to show that everyone has their own take on what they see as being important or making a difference...
  12. LOL... I hate Steam too that proggie sucks
  13. I have been working in the IT industry for around the last 8 years since I left university and at present (at least in Australia) there seems to be a shift back to experience rather than pure certification. With the slow down of the IT sector post Y2K the jobs simply aren't/weren't as available (but are becoming more so) employers are becoming more selective and educated in what they are looking for in a worker, they also have more choice in applicants. Don't get me wrong certification is still important but it tends to be experience and approach in addition that employers look for. Not being familiar with the A+ certifications particularly but aving a certification such as an MCSE, CNE, etc does show that you have learnt the basics and have a good grounding, it also shows you can apply yourself, have self discipline, career direction etc etc. I would disagree with EricW calling it worthless crap, if I you get any tradesman to work for you they should be qualified in some way, I see IT as being no different. Most certifications/exams are a test of retained knowledge and not generally the appliation of that knowledge or even understanding of the underlying principals. They do not show if you can apply what you know or how you approach problem solving, working in a team etc. IMHO you need a mixture of both but you will not get the experience without getting a job first and to get a job you will most likely need a certification of some sort..... All that being said if you have the experience you can usually pass a cetrification exam in your particular area with a some self study and a little preparation.... just my 2c

    Tumblers

I have 2 buckets, one with slots cut in the bottom and one without, seems to work fine for me
  18. The feeling I get is a slight hesitation before the slide goes forward, seems to be due to the feed ramp getting dirty. I make sure I clean the gunk off the feedramp regularly and have not had the problem since, I run an 11lb spring. You could also look at the way the beach face hits the top of the disconnector. My breach face was getting slightly hung up on the top of the disconnector and taking some speed off the slide, a new disconnector has been fitted and the breach face has been smoothed on the bottom where it depresses the disconnector and runs a heap better with light springs.. just my 2c
