  1. Dump prone until you are 100% certain you can do it tidily and easily get to the sights. Height and weight are not your problem, it is where the weight is. If in the middle section you are essentially pointing down hill from there. If you are wide and flat then the problem will not exist as you will be pointing uphill to the shoulders. I am unfortunately the former, very shoulders down. What pistol? Do they make a factory extended (plus 2 maybe) magazine for your handgun, if so get them and use them. You are allowed to modify / replace the sights, get the highest sights possible. To minimize the drop in the head position get the sights up as far as you legally can. Any practice you do at the plates standing will be good practice for the mover, as the 10 ring is the same size. If you decide to persevere with going prone at 20 and 25, then make sure you can get those sights sorted out and inline. Then just start at 25y with no end time, just shoot good ones without dawdling, but at the same time keep a good sight picture and trigger control, onc youget all 6 in about 10 seconds you will find you can speed up a little, you will baturally go faster in a match until you really get control. Don;t sight in just taking one shot gently at a time. paint the paltes and do 4 strings at 25 until you are certain that you have a cfully confirmed sight picture and aiming point, or know what the sight adjustment is from the other matches. Keep at it.
  2. I am trying to forget Berry's, I have found any decent lead (coated or otherwise) will work beter than Berry's. For plated try CamPro from Canada or Extreme, anything else and you are just wasting powder. The difference unless you are shooting 25K plus per annum is just not worth it. Use the better bullets where ever possible. 5 good shots is better than 6 shitty ones.

    Short funny jokes

Dr to Sign writer. It is not three words, it is one word, dammit, Pyschotherapist.
  4. I have a Ruger Stainless 77 in 7.62x39, nice little piece and shoots OK to 200yards. Not MOA but I would not want to be a goat at 200 if anyone with that gun was pointing it your way.
  5. For some / many life is difficult. Sometimes more difficult than they can manage. I have lost a few friends to disease lately and it was unpleasant for all, let alone the sufferer. RIP
  6. I run 6 o'clock on everything. Just easier on my eyes.
  7. Can't say out loud. But weight is just the small issue. The MRO however is just awesome.
  8. There may however be a different point of aim if going prone, as the gun heals up from the ground, this will depend on actual shape, height and angle of the prone pad, but I have found I need to come down about 1/2 turn on the rear sight when prone at 50 over standing at 25Y.
  9. Stay away from the SRS fro NRA, I sell tham and I would not sell you one for that. Try the new MRO, nice clean dot, a little small, make sure your mount is dead on and you will be fine. As they are designed for a rifle (AR15 specifically) the re is not a lot of adjustment available if the mount is too out of line from the barrel. I had one for about 4 weeks until someone talked one of my staff out of it. Aimpoint Comp M3 or UltraDot if available. Micro Aimpoint awful, too much parallax up close.
  10. Also look at the Just Right Carbine, 9mm, 40 and 45 available, all use Glock Mags
  11. Ruger PC9 or PC4, use Ruger P85 type mags. 9mm will kill Goats to 75m, 40 will kill small deer at that range. With either 16rounds 125gr JHP or 12 rounds 180gr JHP on tap I think they will put down anything I am ever going to run into down here.
  12. Chris, His load is in a 9mm not a 38Super. You need 4.0gr TG with a 125gr to make PF in a 6" and 4.2gr in a 5" usually.
  13. I found going to 125gr instead of 115gr worked better with coated and plated bullets. The extra bearing surface gained is the key. Plated and Coated bullets are shorter than JHP of the same weight as they don't have a giant hole full of air in them.
  14. A good friend of mine has done many years of work with touring bands, some big, some small. But the biggest problem with big bands is that the bigger the band, the bigger (exponentially) everything that they carry along gets. As the demand for flashy shows and getting more bang for your buck increases, the more they have to provide to entertain the crown. Iron Maiden, have always been one of the more outlandish groups out there, way out there. Theie own aircraft, owned or leased, just makes sense. The gear has to get there, the crew has to get there, the Band have to get their somehow. So lets all get there together. Economies of scale. Been to two of their concerts over the years, the first quite some time ago, when both them and I were not so grey. Fantastic.
  15. I think those guys belong to my local club.
  16. Saves aiming at certain talking heads on TV. Man you have to be fast to catch them with their mouths shut.
  17. Clays is brilliant as well. 124gr JHP 3.7gr = 1020fps. I have loaded as hot as 4.2gr but the pressure was getting nasty. Safe but not my favourite.

    TRUISMS!

Some people can't tell the difference between Shit and Smelly Clay as it is being shoved up their nose with a big stick.
  19. 5.0gr TG with a 125gr JHP. Should run at 1200fps in a 5" gun. 6.6gr WSF gives me 1325fps in a 6" gun no pressure at all. I have also used CFE Pistol (6.5gr 1300fps with a plated bullet) and HP38 / Win231 (5.5gr 1300fps JHP Zero) Best load for accuracy and low recoil is Zero 125gr JHP with 5.3gr TG, just brilliant to shoot. Cycles everything I own. BAng on 1000fps in 5" gun.
  20. Kosh75287, I can't tolerate them in any way, I just have this mental block about sizing a case after the bullet is seated, just gives me the willys. The general rule I apply to all 9mm handguns that do not shoot well with reloads is as follows. Test on factory 115gr or 125gr RN, see how it groups and functions. If OK, then look at the loads. Start with 115gr and or 125gr FMJ (real jacketed not plated or coated) see how it groups with the powders you have, if OK, then look at what projectiles you are using previously. Do not over flare, do not use LeeFCD, do not seat long or short, stay close to factory OAL or reccommended OAL from load manual for the projectile in use. Once working, establish longer or shorter OAL for what you intend to do. Then mess with the powder. Lee std carbide size dies, and some others, tend to size the case parrallel for a longer portion of the case. This can stress the area ahead of the case head more than I like, but it does give the Glock Bulge a good whack. Dillon and RCBS Carbide dies seem to less heavy work in that area, but still size the Glock Guppy out well enough. I have also gone to Roll Sizing any brass fired in unsupported or semi supported Production Type firearms. I seem to be getting a lot of brass that is not from my gun in my practice bin and either sort it out and recycle or roll size and problems disappear.
  21. TG is my first choice, but as you need nexts. With 124 / 125gr, in order of my preference, for my handguns. CFE Pistol HP38 / W231 N320 N330 - if you can get it Universal Clays PB 700x For 147gr Projectile WSF CFE Pistol N320 N340
  22. Alan, To ensure that you know how to run one you need to pop down here (for research purposes only mind) to try out the local Golden Elixir of Coromandel, I understand a special brew is underway for November next. Just trying to help out.
  23. Firstly get rid of the factory crimp die and use a taper crimp die instead, I have always had an improvement in accuracy with 9mm buy doing just this. The as suggested above less bell, minimal crimp load to between 1.1 and 1.125" with that flat nose.
  24. Damn Oxygen thieves. They are the cause of "Climate Change", they are stealing O2 and replacing it with Co2.
