  1. That is the 4th reason......I missed it. The barrel just doesn't like the bullet. It happens.
  2. You say "you acquired" I am guessing the gun is used? Did you acquire it from the first owner? If the gun has not been tampered with--Call AKAI. Well call them anyway. There is normally only 3 reasons for tumbling (1) Heavy bullet moving to slow (2) Over crimping (3) Bullets hitting comp because of comp.. I think you can rule out #1, pull a bullet from a loaded round. Over crimp will be visible. #3. Bullet hitting comp and the comp was not center aligned or it is loose. If #3 is the answer, you need t send gun to AKAI.
  3. I'd like to learn, so I ask. I don't have one of those holsters. Perhaps I need to invest in one. I have 12-15 months to decide. Several different makers, but all close to the same design.
  4. Limited Division--Why are you concerned about hard chrome and holster wear? 85% of limited use holsters like ghost which grip the trigger guard. I have an SVI Open in stainless. The stainless frame is not weather proof. I would not have it blued, but I have seen (close up) SVI's black coating. It looks very cool and I bet will protect your gun for a long time.
  5. For the fastest method--the slide racker should always be on the weak hand side. it props the gun on table starts, it is readily accessible by the weak hand for clearing jams. It is the fastest location for unloaded starts.
  6. They are talking barrel holes. The Comp you have has three ports right? Sil is a very good powder. You might try 115, but you will probably see really flat primers. Do you have an extended firing pin..if not..get one. 121 or 124 is a better choice. The hotter the outside temp (like 95) Sil will go done in PF by 5 FPS.
  7. Only you can answer that question. Can you see the dot clearly (no distortion) AND see the targets clearly?
  8. Even with red loctite, the comp should not come loose with only 50 rounds fired. Check to make sure the comp is not hitting the slide or anything else. If the comp is timed incorrectly, that is probably why the comp is coming loose that quick as it is hitting something. You need the green loctite for one, but before you use that--make sure that comp is not hitting the slide. You will crack the comp once green loctite is used and the timing is off or you will crack the slide. Either way, it means lots of $$$ to fix.
  9. Loctite has a cleaner fluid you can get. Then use a wire brush.
  10. Dawson XL will not work without modification. The pin design is different. The distance of the spring stops are quite different.
  11. Because he can't buy one in California. did you read the first post? My emphasis added: I live in California and i have a strip STI 2011 frame. I want to build a custom gun for USPSA limited, any recommendation who am i gonna send my frame and can build me a gun from scratch. As you all know California gun laws is a mess which wont allow me to buy a off roster gun, so basically sending my frame to a custom gun builder will be the only option.I'm only a newbie in competition world so help would really be appreciated. Yes I did read, I was under the impression certain guns were approved in California and certain business can ship to California. Could be wrong. He can buy a CZ TS in 40 (on the list) which is less wait and one hell of limited gun. I had one and it is less $$$ than a custom 2011. The trigger on the CZ from CZ Custom is awesome.
  12. Why wait...Shooters Connection has a 2011 in stock now.

    Loud Bikes

While I do love the sound of an uncorked Harley--I am also mindful of my neighbors and others. I do think some folks take the loudness to an extreme. They just run full throttle no matter where they are.
  15. Sorry Buddy, but I think you are really reaching on this one. My answer is NO. I am not going to DQ a guy coming out of the PP UNLESS upon exiting the PP. he/she shows a clear violation of the rules. How did a guy get into the equation? Personally I pee standing up. But a woman goes in with her gear on and comes and says how relieved she is that it was so close. She HAD to undo her rig and pants to go. Because a guy has to sit to sh... right? Do you know what the guy did... My point is...sometimes we take the rules thing a bit to far. I'm all about rules too, but this situation is not something I care a lot about. If the person drops their gun or mag in the pretty blue water--I bet they run to the safe area next time.
  16. This vet has the same opinion as you.

    Safe Area

Putting your range bag on a safe table is not a DQ.

  22. I ran Ramshot Comp with 135 Extremes and it was a little dirty. Its not VvN320 clean, but not bad at all.
  23. 9MM is "recommended" The ammunition, as fired through each designated handgun, should achieve a power factor between 115.0 and 125.0. I can't swear to it, but most calibration ammo is going to be 115-124 GRNs.
  24. Even for that purpose, you can't run them that slow. They will tumble and really screw with calibration. 115 would be best.
