  1. That sucks. This is what I'm hoping to avoid. At 2 matches/month with 6 stages/match it's "only" 144 stages/year. Subtract Classifiers from that and it's "only" 120 stages a year that require designing. Personally, I'd be totally fine with being responsible for *one* stage per year as we have at least 120 members (or so I think)....
  2. All great stuff here, thanks for the replies. Our club runs two USPSA matches, one Steel Challenge, one Multigun and sometimes a rimfire match per month. Especially with respect to the USPSA matches, the same core of guys (that have been doing it for a while) design and build the stages for match 1, and match 2 usually involves tweaks to the stage designs of match 1 so that the wheels aren't totally reinvented. Our issue is that these guys are getting burned out, so I'm curious about other ways of getting club members involved even if it's to only build pre-designed stages. Example: mandatory minimum number of stage builds per member each year? Club members are organized into groups and stage building is assigned on a rotating basis? Ideas like that. It seems when brought up most newer (myself included, been shooting a little over one year) members are somewhat intimidated to *design* stages but more than happy to build if given a design to follow. And of course I agree that most shooters are "consumers" as folks have busy lives/work schedules/etc. but it seems if the building work is divided in an organized way, no one would be burdened all the time. Of course the President/MD would review the stages once built and supervise changes for safety/rule/quality reasons. I'm just interested to see if clubs out there have different systems in place other than a singular group that always does the design and build.
  3. How does your club get stage design/building done without taxing the same folks again and again in our volunteer sport? Referring mostly to weekly local matches, not larger matches or majors. Apologies if this has been brought up elsewhere but curious to know how other clubs get it done.
  4. I also use the MecGar 17 rounders with Hennings + Grams.
  5. This brake is very loud and works very well. Like cheating well. I usually just apologize to my squad before the first stage and figure I'm good for the match. Keep in mind it bumps you into open in most leagues/matches due to its size.

    Ported TSO?

Anyone out there have their TSO ported? I’m running mine (9mm) with a frame mounted dot and slide racker as an open gun for multigun comps. Been thinking about whether I could/should get the barrel and slide ported. Curious to see if anyone out there has done it. Any advice/feedback appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Not to be a downer, but I asked one of my local FFLs who's also a LE/MIL CZ dealer a couple months ago about a P-01 and he said most popular pistols will be out of stock as they were snapped up quickly from the beginning of the pandemic and the current wait time for pre-orders from CZ was up to a year(!). The only online dealer I've seen with any stock ever is CGW as mentioned. Good luck to you!
  8. I purchased a 940 and it had a very slight but noticeable wobble between the barrel and receiver that drove me nuts. Contacted Mossberg and they said it wouldn't affect function or safety. I couldn't abide by that and promptly sold it.

    DA trigger prep

This, except maybe for classifiers if shooting USPSA.... Steel Challenge draw/first shot time obviously more important though.
  10. Did another 100+ round break in session today, and tried new 10 and 20 (19 actually) round Typhoon factory mags. Gun ran all the ammo I tried, from the 1375 fps Fiocchi steel to 1250 fps Estate target shells (which made me very happy as they're cheap and I have quite a bit of them). It did choke on 2 Winchester 1350 fps high brass shells (out of the new 20 rd mag), but ran the rest. Think it may have been a mag issue though as my buddy shot the same ammo out of the 10 rd mag without a hiccup. Also tried a handful of 1400 fps 1 1/8 oz Rio slugs to get a rough zero on my dot. Those ran great, though I can't speak of how they grouped as I was making dot adjustments. By the end of the session, mags ran perfectly, gun was running great. I realize that 200+ rounds through a semi-auto shotgun isn't indicative of it's long term performance, but there isn't much (I was able to find anyway) out there on these F12s and just wanted to share my experience if anyone cares... Ha! So far been happy with the way it shoots and is breaking in nicely.
  11. Don't want to speak for the owner but I'd assume he's a righty and a left side charging handle means not having to break shooting hand grip to cycle the bolt. Potential time saver while on the clock.

    New P-10 F CR

Haven’t put rounds through it but did handle and dry fire one at a match. It handled like a regular P10F (used to have one but sold it) with a slightly improved trigger, not the *lightest* pull but consistent clean break and short reset, just like expected. Nice serrations on the slide. About it. Sorry not to be more descriptive but it kinda handles exactly like you’d expect - a good, striker fired polymer pistol with an improved trigger. It’s a nice gun but didn’t really do much for me personally and certainly didn’t make me want to sell my CO S2s to swap out.
  13. So, the curiosity (and Scheels' 30 day return policy) got the best of me and I got one. Long handguard model in grey. Took it apart, wiped off all the factory oil, reapplied some Ballistol on most everything and some Lucas Extreme Duty oil on everything that moves/cycles, especially the carrier, etc. and put it back together using a youtube vid as a guide. Overall impression of the internals was that it appears well made. Shot 100 rounds of Fiocchi Exacta 1375 FPS 6 shot 1 1/8 oz steel at the range out of the 3 factory 5 round mags it came with. Had 2-3 FTEs in the first 15 rounds, then one in the next 15, then it ran that ammo flawlessly for the rest of the time. As fast as I could pull the trigger. I did try some 3" HV lead hunting shells 1 3/4 oz 1330 FPS and it didn't like those as much but it seemed to be a factor of the shell length/nose hardness and feeding ramp. So, so far so good with 2.75" shells. I picked up two 20 rounds mags so that'll be the next part of the experiment. The gun shoots nicely/fairly soft, the stock trigger pull is a *bit* heavy (they offer an improved 3.5# drop in comp trigger) but breaks nicely, and has an acceptable reset. Only issue was the cylinder choke I was using kept backing out so had to retighten in between strings occasionally. All in all, impressed so far as I was a bit skeptical going into it. Next step is running the 20 round mags and possibly adding their sport muzzle brake.
  14. Did you get one for your F12? Curious.
  15. Thought I read somewhere that CZ barrel twist rates are optimized for 124gr projectiles…
  16. Thanks for these comments guys. I will say that the fit and finish of the F12s I've handled is top notch. Upper and lower receivers are tight, no wobble anywhere, and the cerakote jobs look great.
  17. Thanks for the replies guys. I've definitely considered the VR80 but have seen F12s available here to me locally at good prices and I've read about some of the mods (gas port widening, etc) the VR80 needs, and the F12 doesn't other than 100 rounds of HV ammo for a break in. I'm just considering the F12 out of curiosity, and while I haven't fired one, they handle nicely and feel very solid in hand at the store. Plus I think the gas system is slightly different, no buffer spring in the stock - maybe less finicky? It also seems the support has increased even very recently, with US based support and a website, and they offer a lifetime guarantee. I'm pretty sure they're made in the same Turkish factory as the VR80s oddly enough. Just trying to consider some alternatives to Dissident which I know is the major player but $$$... Thanks again!
  18. I have two S2s with CZC steel plates. Zero issues.
  19. Considering getting an F12 for open class/2x4 multigun matches. Seems as though they’re run quite a bit in Europe and outside the US. Any Typhoon F12 shooters here? Any feedback on them as a platform? Also debating the short vs longer handguard and would probably upgrade to the drop in comp trigger and add a muzzle brake. I’ve read they’re break-in dependent but any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    That new TS2

Could also be 3gun open if you add an optic.
  21. I was having intermittent extraction issues with my AccuS2 but recently replaced my recoil spring (run 11#, long overdue for replacement), extractor/pin, and standard power extractor spring. Also gave my factory crimp die an extra little twist. Runs like a champ again.

    TSO sale...

They don’t appear to be on sale anymore….
  23. Still a relative noob, but have stumbled upon some tips I find useful for WHO shooting: 1. Stagger your stance if possible with weak side foot forward. Make a fist with strong hand and press into the center of your chest. 2. Your weak side thumb should be (as much as possible) directly even with your weak side trigger/index finger. I bend it to 90 deg and clamp the gun. 3. For some reason (as previously mentioned), more meat of your trigger finger on the trigger works best and pushes the gun around the least. 4. Focus strong grip in your pinkie and ring fingers to steady the gun. Medium to light grip your middle finger. Trigger finger totally relaxed. 5. I cant the pistol and lock my wrist at pretty much max angle in that range of motion. Then bring my elbow toward midline pointing straight down. 6. Expect that the muzzle will flip significantly more than freestyle. Use this time to transition if needed. 7. Slow down your splits big time. I try to end every live fire session with one handed shooting for a mag or two.
  24. Given the choice, I prefer steel as it's stiffer and same material as the slide. I can't speak to the aluminum plates.
  25. I have 2 S2 slides with the CZ Custom cut/rds (steel) plate with DPPs mounted. I’m very happy with both. I’m new to dot shooting but have had *zero* growing pains finding the dot on draw/while shooting as they have the same index/grip angle as my iron sight S2s that I’m used to. I have a rear iron sight plate but haven’t installed it. And I like the fact that I’m not tied to a specific dot, though really liking the 6 moa DPP.
