  1. In CDP, you may start your Sigs w/hammer back, first shot is SA. Only SSP requires that the starting position for the hammer is DOWN. Had a friend that shot a 229 in 40 cal. in SSP and was very fast with it. He had it's timing down. Hope this helps. Granderojo
  2. In the old rule book ( prior to '05), the scorekeeper's duties were spelled out and these things were listed as their responsibility. I don't know why this was dropped from the new book. As has been stated, the SO is supposted to be watching the gun and the shooter's hand. I also talk to the SO before assessing pentalites. They know that I know I'm supposed to be watching and helping. They all appreciate the help. Granderojo
  3. I need to get a hand primer tool for loading for Revo. I would appreciate your opinons as to which one is prefered (easy of use, works best and is reasonably priced). I don't think my 650 is getting them crushed enough from what I read here. Thanks, you guys are a wealth of information and are very willing to share and it's greatly appreciated. Granderojo
  4. +1 On Green. I used red for about 4 yrs. Switched to green about 2 yrs ago and have never looked back (no pun intended). A lot of my friends are making the switch as well. I have SDM sights w/ green on my Revos and SDM green fiber in my 1911's. His fiber optic material is the brightest I've seen. Granderojo
  5. You ought to try a Green fiber. You might be surprized, but maybe not. I was! SDM sells the brightest fiber I've seen. Good people to do business with. Good gunsmith also. Give them a look. My 2ctw. Good luck, Granderojo
  6. Hey Dave, When you saw Matt do those .55 reloads, were they slide lock or speed loads (one in the tube)? Either way, that's an amazing time! Granderojo
  7. +1 on canting the gun at about a 45 degree from vertical toward the center. Helps my recoil control and follow up shots as well. Try it with your elbow locked and with it flexed slightly. Also, turning your gun hand side more toward the target helps. How much is a trial and error process for the position that works best for you. Same goes for shooting srtong handed. As has been stated, the more you practice off handed ( live and dry fire), the better you'll get at it. Enjoy, Granderojo
  8. I used to use 231 and found it was very dirty also. Changed to WST at 4.9gr. w/ 200 coated lswc. made 173pf out of a 5" 1911 w/ Kart Barrel. Much cleaner than 231. For non laser cast, try 5.7gr of Ramshot Zip w/ same bullett. made 175pf. Clean burning as well. 6.7gr of Universal Clays made about the same power and was very clean burning. Same bullet and gun for all specs. Hope this gives you a few more options to try. Good luck. Granderojo
  9. Who makes a good roll crimp die for .45 ACP that will fit a Dillon tool head? Thanks Grenderojo
  10. Is the cylinder in the stainless gun the same black tea as the other gun? Was it worth either the time it took to get them done or the money or both? Any less wear on the cyl stop slots, easier ejection, clean-up? Nice pair to draw to and good looking as well. Thanks, Granderojo
  11. It is possible to adapt a 7 shot cylinder to your 6 shot yoke and frame. Cylinder assemblies are available new and used. I went the other way (686+-6, 4") from 7 to 6 shot and it has worked fine. Any good machinest can cut the cylinder for moons. Hoefully, if you need any fitting of a cylinder, your smith/machinest can do both. Hope this info is of some use to you. Granderojo
  12. They are frame size specific and of course either hammer mounted or frame mounted firing pin. You can get a new Hammer rom Brownells for about $ 45-50 I think. Look in the back at S&W parts. Hope this helps, Granderojo
  13. RePete, You need only 165000 PF for ESR in IDPA, just in case you've been misinformed. So your load should work for that. Granderojo
  14. Howdy, Welcombe to the world of round guns. One thing you might want to know is that the loads you have for a 5" semi auto will probably not make PF for IDPA (165000). The rule says PF form the longest barrell of the class. In this case, that would be 4". Most folks shoot 230 gr. RN in this division. There are several threads here on loading for IDPA. Hope this helps a little. Enjoy ESR. It's different form the others as you will soon see. Granderojo
  15. It's probably available from S&W as well I would think. Granderojo
  16. Brownells has the F/Ps & new mim hammers for the N frames. Look at the schematics for the part #. The parts are real S&W from S&W.
  17. I remember gas for 12 cents a gal. free plates, glasses etc. & full service . A case of cold beer for $5. Ah, the good old days!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I'm guessin' you never did any street racing & talkin' trash between front fenders.
  19. Question for AZ please. Which vest/neck collar system do you use? I looked at the first website you had a link to, all I saw was the evaporative type. That won't work where I live(centeral Tx.) in the summer as Shred talked about. Thanks, Granderojo
  20. David, There is a product called Shoe Goo. It is used to make repairs on sport shoes (running, cross country, trainer, walking etc.) & extend their life. I haven't looked for any in a while (several years) but the last time I saw any was at a sporting goods store. It woaks very well for it's intended purpose. Don't know about the grips, but I think it would be worth a look & or try. Hope this is some help. Heck of a good idea about putting rubber in the freezer before trying to work it. I'll have to give that a try next time. Granderojo
  21. The first thing that you need to do is determine WHICH front sight you have on your gun. The late model ones have a spring loaded sight call a Classic or DX. This sight base has a pin in it like the earlier ones do, BUT it doesn't hold the sight in. You can tell by - number or looking at the sight base at the discharge end of the barrel ( you will see a spring & ball detent in the sight base). The earlier type has a smooth flat end on the sight base at the discharge end of the barrel. The correct drill bit size is .055", drill number 54. I would suggest that you buy a couple of them while you are there as they are pretty small & VERY easy to break if you're not careful. They are available @ most all nut & bolt stores. A phone call will answer this question before you chase all over town looking for one. A 1/16" punch is TOO big for the hole. Brownells sells the correct size punch for the job. You can probably make a 1/16" cut down to .055" if you have the time , abaility& tools. The rest of the procedure is stated above & on previous posts. Hopes this info helps. Granderojo .
  22. Hey Duster, Would you share the part number for sockets @ True Value Please? Thanks, Granderojo
  23. Is there a web site yet? Any info on price & delivery time? Thanks
  24. Dave, Congrads on your performance @ the Nats. Thanks for the update on the speedloader holders. I'm really glad they didn't give you any grief about them! It's a good idea & inexpensive too!
  25. As the title says, forum member Gregg K. comes from behind to win both MM class at the IDPA Nationals in Allentown, PA. this weekend. He finished ahead of 8 others in MM & SS classes (including one multi-gun master). Congradulations on a job well done. This is his second national win in IDPA. His first was in CDP SS class @ last years IDPA nationals. He's only been shooting revolver in IDPA for one year. Way to go Gregg!
