  1. Very nice rig. Only problem is that is over a $500 holster when said and done.
  2. I was cleaning and messing around with the JP5 with the SD3G trigger last night. It really has zero take up after testing it out last night, so it is a single stage trigger. For some reason I thought I was getting a touch of take up but currently after using the trigger for one season, there really is no take up / pre travel. Also, I measured the trigger pull and it is coming out at less than 2 pounds. Hope this clears up any confusion.
  3. Not sure if the Modular ones fit. As for the stock JP triggers compared to the SD3G, for whatever reason I would get trigger freeze with the JP trigger than I experience with the SD3G. The JP triggers are nice, but I prefer the SD3G. One might want to try the JP t rigger for a bit before switching to any other trigger. Triggers always come down to user preference at the end of the day.
  4. V2s are in stock and are a better bullets all around for me. I don't even bother looking for V1s anymore and V2s seem to be in stock more often. They were in stock this morning.
  5. Thanks for the information. I will check it out. Probably better option than peracetic acid.
  6. It has been bad for some time. But this last stunt may be a bridge to far for even the most casual of shooters to ignore.
  7. They claim its a single stage and for all intensive purposes it is. Like I said there is a tiny tiny amount of take up before reaching a definitive wall. You can treat it like a 2 stage, but there really is not any pressure of the take up and the movement it barely detectable. Look up the trigger on the Geissele web site if you have any more questions.
  8. I think it is pretty obvious to cover up corruption. Nothing about this organization has been transparent for some time. By removing the individuals they have, there is possibly only one person left on the board to push back, or try to bring any sort of issues to light. We will see how long that will last.
  9. I think you are getting the S3G and SD3G trigger confused. the S3G trigger is curved. The SD3G trigger is flat which is the only configuration it comes in to my knowledge. The Geissele website essentially describes the SD3G as a single stage short pull trigger, which at speed it seems this way, but it does have a miniscule amount of take up. The spring is heavy enough to allow you to reach a wall without completely pulling the trigger, thus making it acceptable in my eyes for distance shooting. I have not measure the trigger pull using the 3.5 lbs. spring, but it does feel like the pull is 3.5 lbs. out of the box and seems even lighter after a few thousand rounds. I have been meaning to get a trigger gage on it after this first season to see what the pull is, I just have not got around to it. I have heard the springs need to be maintained properly to prevent double/auto fire. While I have never experienced this or seen this myself, I have heard from more than one person that this is a thing.
  10. Holy Crap these guys are so corrupt.
  11. Absolutely dependent of how much build up there is. Light to medium buildup can be removed within a half hour typically.
  12. I do not have mine setup for 223, but Kevin Whitehead (I believe he is associated with Rollsizer) mentioned so send him photos of the setup. I guess the setup of the unit causes this and there is a way to fix it. Maybe reach out to him with photos of your setup. I intend to once I am setup for 223 again.
  13. I am sorry, I guess I assumed incorrectly. When it was asked if they work, yes the magazine feeds bullets fine into the JP5. I shoot USPSA so I never get to lock back, and have yet to test this on any of my mags. It really is not a thing for me. I guess I should check just so I have that data point, but not a necessity for what I am doing.
  14. If you are talking about the ones with the orange follower, yes they work fine. I thought I had read somewhere that they did not work in the JP5 but the three mags I have tried all work.
  15. I just mounted one on my Athena. So far so good, but not many rounds down range yet. I have one of their earlier red dots, but felt the glass was way too small. I think they have one of the best dots on the market regarding dot sharpness and brightness. I too have an astigmatism so dots are often smudgy not crisp. That is one of the reasons I went with mostly the Sig Romeo 3 XL was due to how crisp and round the dot is with my astigmatism. With the Romeo 3 XL eclipsing $700 an optic I am looking for more reasonably priced option. In my eyes optics are consumables, and if I can get 30k-40k out of a $230 optic, that works for me. I can get the Swamp Fox Justice II for around $230 shipped with their veterans discount. Not sure about the durability, but we are fixing to find out. It lives on my practice gun, so I will abuse that and keep the Sig on my Match gun.
  16. Does it work in that configuration? It looks like it is mounted too far back from the muzzle according the the diagram in the Garmin, when you create a session. There has been a bunch of video's to which people are using a similar mount. It is my understanding that the mount was made in collaboration with Area 419 specifically for that Garmin, so I would think Garmin would have mentioned if it would not hold up to recoil, but as someone mentioned I guess time will tell.
  17. I have always wondered about timing. In timing I mean that the gun will time different (dot/sight return) for a given gun setup and grip pressure. Let us assume that the shooter does not change anything on the gun and maintains the same grip pressure for both loads. I would think the gun returns different based on many aspects of the ammo. Powder burn, bullet weight etc. Does the brain become trained on the timing of the gun subconsciously? Ideally one would let their eyes indicate when to pull the trigger every time they see an acceptable sight picture, but without extensive training and thought into performing this way I am not sure the brain would work that way. I wonder for the majority of shooters out there their brain is using timing versus vision? To answer the OP's original question, I want my gun to act the same way in practice as I want in competition. I think people get way too caught up in felt recoil, impulse whatever you want to call it. With proper grip pressure, and using your vision to pull the trigger as quickly as possible when an acceptable shot is presented is what is important. Of course the ammo and gun should be tuned. But not tuned to recoil, tuned to quickly get the dot/sight back on target. These are two completely two different things. I think people get way to wrapped up in felt recoil. I know I did when I started.
  18. Stay away from Freedom Munitions. Unless things have changed recently it is terrible ammo.
  19. After running the SD3G for the last shooting season in my JP5 it has been amazing. It has been the first and only Geissele trigger. I am not known for my splits, but numerous times last season people commented on how fast my splits have been. I did not have any huge expectations for the SD3G, as I understood it was a rock solid trigger, but the speed of the trigger has been so impressive, I am thinking about ditching all of my Trigger Tech Triggers in my ARs and switching to the SD3G. I used to think I was not a guy that required trigger reset force to effectively get decent splits, but the SD3G has me rethinking that. The main reason would be Trigger reliability, and running the same trigger in all of my rifle platforms.
  20. Be very mindful of how tight the screws are when you screw the bottom plate to the bowl. I use a bit extension with the required torx bit and tighten the screws finger tight. If you are using a handle or socket driver you will over tighten them. Watch the primers as the feed into the tube. Make sure they are all feeding the tube correct side up. If you feel it is taking over 1.5 - 2 minutes to feed 1 tube, lighten the tension of the screws. If you lighten the tension too much you will end up with upside down primers. It take a little patience, but once you figure out how much torque to apply to the screws, it is fairly repeatable. Good luck.
  21. Almost all exclusively CCI and Federal. The CCI works really well. I think the CCI are ever so slightly rounded at the bottom. At least more so than other primers. I heard the Primer Pro was a nightmare for WSP primers, so I do not think you are alone. There is a learning curve in the maintenance on it and how much force you use to tighten the plate to the bowl. That force will actually change from primer to primer. I don't think the Primer Pro works as well as it should, most definitely seems to be primer type sensitive. With that said it is currently my preferred method of filling primer tubes.
  22. I am interested in the new one, but my Primer Pro runs like a top.
