  1. Yes, my question referred to whether or not the epoxy (or fairy dust) would do an adequate job of adhering to aluminum grip panels. As a new CZ owner, I do not happen to have an extra set of grips. I don't want to screw up the nice factory grips, so I may just hold out for a cheap set of used grips to experiment on. If not, the Boss grips aren't that expensive!
  2. So what you're saying is, I can't just pour sand on my grips and expect it to stick?
  3. That's assuming that you already have a set of grips that you would like to apply the carbide to. Would it even adhere to the aluminum grips?
  4. Great info, thank you. So, it seems like RN and TC are the way to go.
  5. The powder issue is now just as scary. I can't find a damn thing out there. I have a enough primers to last a little bit, but I'm down to only a couple pounds of Sport Pistol, and EVERYONE is sold out of EVERYTHING!
  6. I'm new to the world of CZs and just ordered up a Shadow 2 OR. Before I go through the whole load development process, I was wondering if the CZ pistols prefer a certain bullet profile -- specifically from Blue Bullets (they seem to run faster than any other coated bullets). Thanks in advance!
  7. How do they feel during live fire with the lightened slides? Any appreciably noticeable difference. They do look nice!
  8. They are an Australian company, but ship international. Has anyone here tried them for their Shadow 2? https://www.bosscomponents.com.au/collections/cz-shadow-2/products/cz-shadow-2-palm-swell-grips
  9. Yup. I've only been loading a short time as well, and the cost of admission was definitely worth it! I've been able to keep stocked up on primers without getting hosed just by being very persistent in searching. Haven't a tough time finding powder now, unfortunately!
  10. Going to start working up some loads using the powders I got (HS6, AutoComp, Silhouette, SWMP, etc.). Haven't been able to find any AA7, but I do have some SWMP being shipped to me. That's as close as I could come AA7.
  11. As of yesterday, Stoeger's Pro shop had them in stock as well. Not sure what calibers. Great machine. After a short "getting used to" period, I'm really happy with mine.
  12. My Hornady pulling die works fine for BBI .40 cal, but it just won't latch onto my .40 cal Blue Bullets. They seem to be too slippery.
  13. This might be old news, but Taylor does make brass base plates that weigh "about five ounces". A brass backstrap would be great! http://taylorfreelancestore.com/s-w-m-p-140mm-basepad-brass-w-spring/
  14. Great suggestions, I really appreciate the replies. So far, I've been able to score some Autocomp, HS6, and N340. I'm going to start with those and if I can get my hands on some AA7, SWMP, or Silouhette, I'll jump on it.
  15. Great info, man. Thank you for thoughtful reply. Yeah, longevity of the gun is definitely a consideration. I'm not planning on replacing slides every year, and I will be loading lower PF rounds for practice. I've actually heard that Autocomp can be hard on guns. A couple guys at my club were cracking slides every couple years when using Autocomp. When they switched powders, no more cracked slides. There's a lot to that equation, however. I'll try out some 115s when I get them on hand. 125 is what I currently have, and they seem to be the more popular slug. Have to start somewhere. Yeah, open life...
  16. That's the plan. I was able to find a pound of Autocomp and N340 ($$$). Silhouette and HS6 seem to be sold out online, however, I think a local shop has some HS6 in stock. Power Pistol is also pretty scarce.
  17. Good article, thank you for the link. Thanks all for the replies. Now it's just a matter of finding powder and working up a load. I think the hard part will be finding the powder! Nothing in stock...
  18. Morning, all. I'm looking to eventually move into open division and I'm looking to get some powder recommendations. I've spoken to a few shooters at my local club, but due to the current shortages, I'd like to get some additional recommendations. When I get everything set up, I'll be switching my Honcho over to the 9mm open configuration, and I'll be shooting 125 gr JHP. I know it's a tall order, but I'm looking for a powder that: a) isn't overly temperature sensitive, b) won't fill up the case too high, c) is easy to load in my Dillon 750, d) shoots clean, and e) isn't too snappy. Recommendations that I've gotten so far are N340, N350, and Autocomp. If there is anything else that fits my bill, I'd love to hear it. Powder is getting hard to find now too... Thanks in advance!
  19. Yup. Black Bullets has taken less than a week to receive every time I order.
  20. That chute is pretty awesome. For my 750, I really like the Uniqutek micrometer powder measure. I also picked up one of the ebay casefeed stoppers, a roller handle, lights, strong mount, shell plate bearing, and Dram Worx hopper. All unnecessary to reload, but all good upgrades.
  21. Not sure about anyone else, I'm just putting my experience out there. I do wear them daily, so maybe they just weren't up to the task. My Peltors were purchased about three years ago, so maybe manufacturing processes changed.
  22. I would stay away from the Peltor Tactical Series. The sound quality, noise reduction, and fit are great, but they are cheap garbage. Mine, and several of my coworkers all used them, and they all broke. The plastic piece that secures the headband to the wire piece cracked in all of them within six months. I was able to fix mine by replacing the band with an old Howard Leight headband, but a few months after I did that, the bluetooth function stopped working. I think in total, there were five of us who ended up with broken headbands on our Tactical 500s. I was the only one who had failed electronics. It's a bummer, because they were really good ears! Also stay away from Safariland Liberator HP. Well made and comfortable, but the sound quality is ridiculously bad. So far, MSA have been the best, but they are a bit loud if shooting indoors.
  23. Already ordered. Will be here tomorrow, thanks all!
