  1. The 1911 Provisional Division has been approved. It will go into effect on 1-1-06 for those clubs and organizations that wish to use it. All clubs and organizations not wishing to take part in the experiment will continue their programs as they are now. Anyone wishing more detailed information can contact me direct at garystevens@alltel.net. USPSA will have an announcement on this in the near future.
  2. Please tell me who can put a 4.5 pound trigger on my 25 or 625? Heck I'll even settle for a 5 pound even, I don't want to get greedy
  3. My question would be where can you buy the stripper clips for the o3?
  4. Rule 8.2.3 states you can not start with the gun in your hand, so if I understand your original statement, the course was illegal to begin with. I'll speak generally here, since I don't know the specifics of your situation. RO's are taught, at least by me, that you don't make calls based on what you "think" you saw. You make calls based on what you "know" you saw. So if the word "possibility" entered into this conversation, it has no place there. Rule 11.1.2 says you can not challenge the commission of the infraction involving a safety issue, only that exceptional circumstances warrant reconsideration. This makes it imparative that the RO only make calls on what they are sure they observed. Also US 11.1.5 disallows the use of photo or video evidence.
  5. "should've bought two of each back when it was readily available." A man after my own heart. Words to live by Now if I want one, I have to pay through the nose to get it, if you can find one for sale
  6. I believe that custom gun is what I am remembering. I think I saw one once and thought it was a pretty neat gun. It was a 25 and nice blue on it. Thanks much.
  7. Lew Horton has made a bunch of limited run Smith and Wesson revolvers. I have several in 2 1/2 and 3 inch versions. I got to wondering if they every made a 25-2 45 ACP with a 2 1/2 or 3 inch barrel. I can't remember one, but at my age that doesn't mean much So how about it, did anyone make these?
  8. On a fixed time course it is not hard to count shots normally. It is something that comes naturally after you RO for a few thousand shooters You could verify to yourself that you heard what you thought you heard, you can also check with your assistant RO's to confirm as they should be counting also. This only is possible though when you are running one shooter at a time. I have not had use the timer since I just count the shots as the shooter shoots them. What you are looking for in the end is an accurate result. Using everything possible to achieve that is a good thing. Absent a clear cut answer though, a re-shoot would be called for. Be very aware that shooting on an indoor range can cause echo's to be picked up on the timer and give false readings. Something that the RO has to be very aware of when indoors. Turning the sensitivity down to minimum can usually help with the problem.
  9. You are not penalized for misses on a fixed time course of fire. The shots you miss are simply points you did not get. Removing the 5 points for an overtime shot, only removes the possible "A" hit that the shooter might have received as a result of the overtime shot.
  10. Just to correct one item. There is no 357 restriction in Revolver. By the rules you can make major with a 9x19 if you wish. Nice try Patrick. I played this game with the same question applied only to L-10. Kept getting answers about what it would do to Limited.
  11. Thanks Nick, I understand your point now. Maybe we can have any changes made by IPSC on their list immediately show up in Red on our list and not be automatically removed until affirmative action by the USPSA BOD is taken. I don't know if this is computer possible or not. I'll ask Rob Boudrie. This would solve the problem of a gun automatically disappearing from the list without any action by the USPSA BOD. One of the problems I had with the XD was that IPSC told the members it was OK, the members went out and spent their money, and then the gun was removed. This bothered me and I voted to re-instate the XD based on that reason and the fact that I didn't think it was substantially different than a Glock. I don't want to say that I will vote that way on the current issue or not, but that it had been previously approved and then removed will be a factor in my vote.
  12. We do. That is how we added guns IPSC prohibited, such as the Glock 34-35 and the XD.
  13. White paper targets are normally no-shoot targets because they are manufactured that way for convience sake. Rule 4.1.3 says "Penalty targets must be clearly marked or be of a single color different from scoring targets." This allows you to use regular brown targets as penalty targets as long as they are clearly marked as penalty targets in some manner. As to colors anyone who wished to could market penalty targets in a variety of colors that are different from the normal cardboard color of the shoot target. Here is a perfect opening the market for you to explore
  14. Congratulations on your joining a fine organization. I know the folk in Owensboro and they will take good care of you. One thing to remember though is we shoot by Divisions. Open-Limited-Limited 10-Production-Revolver. Within those Divisions we have Classes based on your skill level. You are only in competition with the individuals in your particular skill level (class) and those shooting in the same Division, in your case L-10. All the 28 round master blaster Open guns are not in competition with you. Concentrate on your learning curve. Ask questions of people, watch the better shooters and ask them why they do things as they do them. Most importantly though, be safe, and have fun. Gary
  15. Since no-shoot steel must be of a different color than the scoring steel there will always be a color difference between the steel. I would suppose this is something color blind individuals have to deal with all the time. I don't know of any prohibition against including an "X" on the no shoot steel to further identify it as a penalty target.
  16. Each individual popper must be a solid color. However you can use various colors for each individual piece of steel i.e. Red-White-Blue-Green, etc. Any No-Shoot steel must be of a different color from any of the shoot steel. Gary
  17. Phil, The board you would be talking about would be the IPSC World Body. The way you get a vote there is to be the USPSA President. As has been stated before the USPSA board had nothing to do with this decision. Since USPSA has placed IPSC unapproved guns on our approved list, this may happen again. The issue is not being discussed at this point though I am sure it will be at some point. While not at your skill level, I consider myself a shooter none the less, and have always tried to represent the shooter in my decisions, as have all the rest of the BOD. Your disparaging remark was uncalled for. Gary
  18. Words mean things. It is a Division, not a Class.
  19. Actually, I am about 80 percent convinced to make the trip tomorrow. Will you give me some tips on how to shoot? Well the proposal is for 8+1 rounds if scored major and up to 10 rounds if scored minor. The magazine must be of standard length and it and any basepad must fit in the IPSC box when inserted in the gun. In short, if you are scored minor you can have 9+1 40 cal or 10+1 38Super/9mm.
  20. No, I think I am pretty well onboard However, if you wanted to send some to other AD's it might be helpful.
  21. No votes as of yet. It certainly wouldn't hurt to contact your AD anytime you have a interest in something.( Hint, Hint)
  22. I suspect that those on the BOD who will vote against it have their minds made up and nothing will change it.
  23. Guys, the Provisional Division was approved in concept only. I had to bring a proposal to the BOD by 3-1-05 which I did. I hope it will be voted on soon, and it may pass or may not. If the BOD does not approve the project in this next vote, it is DOA.
  24. I would suggest you read US Production Appendix D10 special condition 23 on page 98 of the rule book. It lays out what an acceptable holster is in the US.
  25. Patrick, I have played with the HP quiet a bit, and really like it as a gun. The square mags are somewhat hard to load in the perfectly square grip, but I am sure you will work it out. Your only downside is the minor PF, but I think I would go with L-10 and bear in on the A-Zone.
