  1. If you have or have tried the 90 degree mount from Cheely what is your opinion? And does anybody make a slide racker that works with this mount?
  2. Have you considered Soylent Green?
  3. If you have a g35 you should already have the factory extended mag release. I used to replace all my mag release springs with .047 piano wire but I had a few involuntary mag changes especially with 9mm major so I returned to factory .050
  4. The three pin showed up when the more powerful 40S&W came along and is considered stronger. I would guess they went to it on the 9MM more for simplicity of manufacturing rather than out of necessity.
  5. Call a unit secretary at Doernbecher (503-494-8811) and ask them to give you info, they have lists of hotels, restaurants, etc. for families, and some accommodations will give discounts to families as well. I worked there and we have all kinds of resources. I will keep you in my prayers. The # for Ronald McDonald House on the campus is 971-230-0808.
  6. Their are so many people on this forum that have saved my bacon on numerous occasions, including most of the names mentioned. But my vote would be for Howard, I feel when he gives you advice you can take it to the bank. Tim
  7. It is hard to write a response with my eyes welled up with tears. It's so sad that the great generation is rapidly leaving us, they have values that are so desperately needed today. My dad will be turning 90 in Oct. goes to Yoga classes and is doing pretty good. He to was at Eagles Nest near the end of the war, he actually stole the knobs out of Hitlers shower but doesn't know where they ended up. To bad that would be a pretty cool conversation piece. My 16 year old son who has watched Band of Brothers about 20 times and is somewhat of a war historian will be sad to hear this news.
  8. A 944 is water cooled and is more like the early Audi 4 cyl that the VW. You might try Porsche wrecking yards Aase Bros in Anaheim CA was a good one or somebody that does alot of head work.
  9. Federal is definitely the most sensitive and I think Remington is somewhere in the middle, a little softer than CCI and Winchester. I got away from my beloved Federal because in my major 9 Glock open guns I would pierce the primers, so I went to Winchester then Wolf and haven't had any problems. And my triggers are very light, one coil clipped off a 4# striker. If you have time buy them load some up and try them if the don't work you shouldn't any trouble getting rid of them, then grab the .45 .
  10. I mostly shoot my 2011 anymore but it's broken right now so I'm back to the Glock open gun. I haven't had any problems with the Wolf SP and I have a 4# striker spring with a coil clipped.
  11. I think the Wolf factory used to be PMC. I've used a sleeve of SP in my STI 9mm Major open gun from Powder Valley with no issues and should receive another in a couple of days. They also work well in my SJC open Glocks with sub 2# triggers no piercing like I get with Fed and no flow in any of the guns.
  12. I am from the school that believes that you should Dremel first ask questions later. Coming from a Glock background it's kinda our mill. I have a Dremel variable that has served me well but was getting a little noisy, at a local thrift store I found another variable with the official Dremel foot locker full of accessories. I also have an old Dremel that runs off a 6 c-cell battery pack that I used to take with me to matches in case I got an uncontrollable urge to Dremel.
  13. Speedsec for 2011 open and CR speed for Glock open.
  14. gf; RJ's custom is right next to you in Lyons Or. now, I'll call Rob at Major Nyne tomorrow and see what we're looking at. If it's feasible I'll run it out to him I'd like to make sure were on the same page but thanks for the offer. P.S. your cert. is in the mail Tim
  15. I was just cleaning my STI and discovered my slide is cracked, it's cracked from the left front of the ejection port almost all the way down to the slide lock notch. It is 9mm Major, STI slide and frame, Brazos Thundercomp SX barrel and comp. I'm wondering what is the best way to get this gun up and running again, and is this common. If I buy a slide from brownells it still has to be fit right? if I have to send it off to a gunsmith any suggestions on who is good and fast. I live in Portland Or. and John Larson of JPL and Rob Shepherd of Major Nyne Guns are both good and close but unfortunately back logged.
  16. I was on the fence on this mount but it seems to have adamant fans out there. I'm going to order one on Monday, thanks to all that replied. Tim
  17. Three good reply's in less than an hour, I love this forum. I have a picatinny gas block and would only be running iron sights if the scope was off so that's not a problem.
  18. I am thinking about getting an Armalite scope mount but at 1.25" from top of rail to the center line of scope (iron sights are 1.41") I wonder if it is too low. Does anybody have any experience with this mount? or an opinion (ha) about scope height? This would be the new style Armalite mount with the angled support on the front ring, the rings I am using now have the center line at 1.083" and don't seem bad but maybe I don't know what I'm missing. Thanks Tim
  19. I talked to John back in Nov. and he said he wasn't using WSF anymore because it was to spiky, he mentioned a powder that sounded something like Marsavent 248. I posted an inquiry on Nov. 25th in the reloading section asking if anybody was familiar with a powder similar to that, nobody could steer me in the right direction. As mentioned before I think it is a commercial powder not available to the general public.
  20. I just got back from the woods where I shot my rifle with the newly lightened barrel, and I'm relieved to say I still have a 1/2 moa gun. Thanks all for your insight Tim
  21. That's what I thought your reason would be I just wanted to make sure, thanks.
  22. Howard I can understand why you would want your gun to go slightly down than up, but why does the sight picture have to move to call your shot?
  23. Mitch last night at work I was thinking about my last post a realized I put 2 thousandths I meant 20 thousandths.
  24. I just picked up my barrel, my man does not use a cooling system he just takes it real slow .0020 cuts he said it never gets hot. It is exactly one pound lighter and the gun feels way better. It's 18" now threaded and crowned, I'll post again after I get a chance to shoot it.
  25. I had a 16" light barrel gun with an A2 flash suppressor with a washer welded on the end (I bought it this way). First time I shot it I couldn't believe it the muzzle dipped when fired, I just reamed out the washer until it was neutral.
