I also load 550. I hand prime all my Revo ammo. I can do about a thousand during one episode of Star Trek. I found that between loading tubes, clearing the occasional jam, refilling, fixing seating depth issues, etc. hand priming is way faster. Looking back I’d rather get a 650 for the case feeder and auto indexing. The real problem is 2k brass. If money is limited I’d buy less press to buy more brass. It’s so nice to a years worth loaded than to load multiple times a season.

At the risk of pissing on the third rail: I really don’t get this mentality of saying “if you don’t volunteer you can shut up”. I bust ass on each match I run. I sacrifice family time and my own practice time. So why would I do all that and ignore feedback from the very people I’m aiming to please? Sure, if they’re rude about it I’ll ignore it but telling anyone to “shut the f—- up” just because the didn’t make the same sacrifice as me is really unacceptable. Sure, at the end of the day it’s your match. Run it like you want! But don’t shut people out. As far as classifiers go, I don’t think they belong at a major unless it’s new and we need to determine the 100%. The reason? They’re measured, we can shoot them anywhere; probably at our home club. I’d prefer to see something new and unique; to taste the regional favor of a match. Before you tell me to “shut up” I’m a MD, set up a club and gotten new due paying ICORE members signed up, always have a run at the timer at my regionals, squad mom at the IRC, etc, etc. But again, that really shouldn’t matter when sharing opinions. If did does we’re gonna gatekeep ourselves out of a sport one day.

I didn’t count them, my bad. I’m basing that off of PRGC. Though I don’t think my oversight diminishes my global argument that ICORE has lower participation, thus fewer volunteers.

As a match director I agree with what you say but in my area, and other places I’ve lived there’s just not a lot of participation. That’s the real problem. You get more people interested in the sport, you lose those matches you’re talking about. This year is tough, last year I maxed out at 14 shooters one match. Not bad for our inaugural year. This year I had to cancel the years first match due to lack of sign up. In Atlanta it wasn’t much better. We’d get 12-20 shooters, good stages, good people. But for the largest city in the south it’s low. The demand just isn’t there. Off the top of my head, Orlando, North Missouri, Philadelphia area, and Massachusetts have pretty active clubs but I don’t think they break 30. Even Phoenix, Mecca of the shooting sports, average 20ish. Compare that to my club’s weekly USPSA match. We can get 60 people on a weekday and have a waiting list. I’m rambling but my point is that without the people it’s hard to set up good stages. As for shooting early, not sure we have that problem. In the Midwest they’re a bit later to let people drive. But still start reasonably. steel stages are a freebie for an overextended MD. Put up a box/wall and you got a stage real quick. I’ve been operating under a “if you build it they will come” to my matches but it’s a lot to get all dressed up and have no one to shoot with. Even when I have a lot of field courses I’m afraid I’m gonna scare my shooters away by having them help me break down the stages.

I don’t have a very good crystal ball but you can probably expect some brutal SHO/WHO shooting(relative to what you’ll see in a USPSA match). Not as many swingers & activators relative to a USPSA match. Theres usually a few all steel stages but that depends on how much steel is there. (I’d imagine it’s a lot). Expect higher round count stages. If you don’t have at least 8 moons/speeds on your belt you need to get on that. Normally I’d advise squadding with the Australians followed by the Canuks as they’re all hilarious but I’d expect we’ll see less of them there. They’ll let you ship ammo, email hasn’t gone out yet. If you’re real anxious call S&W and ask for Jerry’s home address (jokes; don’t do that) I’ve not been to Shreveport but I know it’s cheaper to fly internationally (JFK to Hamburg) than it is to go anywhere in the US to SHV. I’d say stay in the match hotel but I’ve not been. Do eat Cajun food while there. If you have no training plan: -be able to shoot alphas on demand at 35 yard D1 -alphas on demand on 15 yard D1 SHO -alphas on demand on 12 yard D1 WHO YMMV

TSA does not define an ammunition weight limit AFAIK. However most major airlines have a 5 kg limit (11 pounds). The only other airline service I’ve seen different is Alaskan who allow 50 lb. I’m at about 12-15 trips. No one at Alaskan, Delta, or Southwest has weighed it. I still ship to bigger matches. 300 160 gr 9mm is right at the limit. I would advise not flying with loaded moons. The trauma of baggage handling may cause damage. That being said I’ve never tired it. Any firearm or ammunition component needs to be checked. That means brass needs to be checked. I put it back in my MTM and have had no problems. S&B is the smallest footprint but I prefer the MTM as it’s easier to load up once I’m done demooning. This is all domestic information. YMMV internationally. if flying with your carry gun and not your full competition gear cable lock a mini case to your soft sided luggage. Not required but it makes it harder for a case to grow legs.

Do you have any of your 38 specials to run it with for a match/practice after all of the of the work you’ve done to the gun?

Sounds like you have a solution but I run DAA .37s with WIN brass. Occasionally I’ll have a round that causes the whole moon to fail the gauge. When that happens I remove the offending round and throw it in a practice pile and throw out the brass when used.

I taper my 38 specials with a Redding taper crimp die. I taper my 9mm with a Dillon die.

I have not had the leading issues with Ibejiheads like you’ve had. Alec has shot more of them than me so he might have better insight. Can you run those Ibejiheads in a 38 special load for a bit to see if you get the same issue?

I did some research. The hit factors are identical for L10, Prod, SS, and Revo. That explains a bit.

Not close. 8.5 gives you an 75% A run when all 60 points are earned. 6.7 sec gives you enough to make GM. The other, very similar 20 series are very easy to get a master run in ~9.5 seconds. But 20-03 has far mini poppers that have to be shot on the move. It just surprises me that the (objectively) hardest classifier has the highest hit factor. Makes me think I’m missing some secret shooting it.

Does anyone have a video of them shooting Deja Vu All Over Again (20-03) with a time under 8.5 seconds? (Edit I wrote 9.4 earlier that was a typo) This one seems really hard to snag an A let alone a GM hit factor on this one. It’s certainly conceivable but I’d love to see it.

We want more Revo shooters, right? Well, a USPSA rule change won’t bring the boys (and gals) to the yard. However, there many things you can do to increase Revo and ICORE numbers. I usually keep this easy plan to myself as, for some unknown reason, people get really mad when I lay out this ingenious plan. 1.) vote for anti gun representatives. 2.) call your elected officials and demand they ban hicap (over 8 rounds) magazines. 3.) wear Levi jeans and dockers 4.) get all your gear at Dick’s sporting goods. If you don’t agree, well, I don’t think you can consider yourself a Revo fan.

Hmm, you know when I had an issue with my cylinder release on my 66 it caused a lock-up issue for me. But only during live fire. I have no idea how supers work but I would remove your custom release and give it a go under match conditions. It would at least remove a variable that you have introduced.

I run a 66, but I’d wager 686 in 6 inch is the most popular. GP100s are certainly viable.
