  1. I think the center pin is fine as a broken centerpin can’t explain why the cylinder release refuses to move when the cylinder is out of the frame. So: -Press down hard to release cylinder, take cylinder out of frame. -Cylinder release should be able to move back and forth if you moved it. But it’s not; it requires force to return move rearward toward the shooter. -After that forceful push to the rear the cylinder release rests forward toward the muzzle as expected but now can be moved back and forth easily until the cylinder is reinserted and the process begins again. Brass is easily ejected.
  2. I’m going bananas trying to figure out what’s wrong with my bolt/cylinder release. My google-fu is failing as: 1.) Apparently there’s a “bolt action revolver” in a popular video game and that’s mucking up results and 2.) All of the relevant results point to the extractor rod as the cause. This is the case for me. I have a 66-8 which has a yoke mounted lock up and no extractor rod to unscrew it self. Here’s the problem and my work so far: -The cylinder release is very difficult to press but do-able. Once depressed the cylinder is easily released from the frame. However, the cylinder release has to be pulled back to get it to return to its “home”. -Deep cleaned and relubed. No noticeable change. -I exchanged my bolt, bolt plunger, and plunger spring from my 66-2 and put it in the 66-8. Worked well (open and closed 100 times with no hang ups) but after firing 6 rounds it started (again) sticking both directions. -Opened up the side plate and noticed the spring from the internal lock had “bowed out” hitting the bolt as it moved. Removed lock and it became much more tolerable but still sticky. -Did another deep clean and light polish on the channel bolt sits in and the 66-8 bolt. Cleaned after polishing. Put 66-8 bolt back in (keeping 66-2 plunger and spring). -Cylinder release near seized hard to press and requires a pull to return to home position. Other info: -Gun has 8,000-10,000 rounds through it. -Apex hammer installed -Bolt/cylinder release seems easier to move before sideplate is reinstalled. -Was acting perfectly fine and started all of a sudden. Any expertise or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
  3. Match was great! Good stages, well run, shade & water. I’d say the 2022 IRC is in good hands! Thanks to Patricia and everyone else’s hard work!
  4. I know you asked for a kydex holster but a lot of 6” revolver shooters opt for a speed holster. The longer barrel can make draws a bear from a traditional holster.
  5. Look at Mr. Iron forearms here only getting tired by #9 I’ve actually started doing them out of order to rest my finger: doing the draw then it’s associated 6 reload 6 drill. I know they’re recommended to be shot in order but the built in rest shooting them out of order provides is essential.
  6. Stages just got sent out. I don’t have a normal Texas Star to practice on let alone a double...
  7. I also appreciate the obvious hard work on the stages as well!
  8. I’d say that 75% of ICORE membership is too old to get on the internet.
  9. What’s the skinny on the extended cylinder release?
  10. Oh no doubt. I was just highlighting that brass is an important variable when reloading for a 929.
  11. It’s such an issue that Starline doesn’t recommend their brass for use in the 929.
  12. I assume you have to pay a pretty penny for a titanium cylinder. I’ve never shot a steel challenge match. What advantage does a lighter gun give you?
  13. Just got off the waiting list this week. See you in June. I’d love to start up an ICORE club there, is that something you and the sporadic shooters would be interested in?
  14. Stupid question. Lightened as in lightened trigger or lightened as in metal was removed from the gun?
  15. I don’t like adding divisions that’ll split up competition but rimfire has been in this limbo state, not a division but you can shoot it in certain matches (like the postal match). I feel like there’s plenty of sports with rimfire so I don’t foresee a lot of timer issues. I don’t like snub because no one will shoot a snub: who will shoot a 5-shot J frame when a 6 shot K frame will be legal? Sure you might bring a J frame “just for fun” but at that point just sign up for Classic or Open. I get that there’s no scoring difference with major but there’s a certain cache to shooting a high power factor revolver. I might even suggest not a new division but just making L6 have a different PF requirement.
  16. Did anyone take the survey on adding L6 major, rimfire, and snubnose? What did you say? I’d be happy to see rimfire officially recognized but not sure about the other two.
  17. I’ll be in Rochester. I typically drive an hour for most of my matches, so MSP area isn’t too bad. 1 to 3 of you... might be a “if you build it, they will come” type of situation.
  18. I’m moving from a pretty active revolver area to Minnesota this summer. The Minnesota gun forums seem a little barren so I am checking here to see if there’s some active clubs with some revolver shooters. If there is enough interest, I’d love to get an ICORE club started.
