  1. Not to brag....aw hell. yeah I'm bragging. My poor old colt is still going strong at 25K or more. Maybe buy one of them if it will fit your gun.
  2. I think Longbeard has it right. But I was watching a video of Max Leograndis the other day and when he sprinted he just held the gun in strong hand and took off. Nice to have young legs also.
  3. Oooo, tham's fightin words mister.....
  4. Hey, this is the internet. You don't need to try something to share your opinion of how it works.
  5. I've got a Colt 6951 pcc with 25 to 30 K rounds through it and still the original firing pin. Had Timney trigger for probably 20K of those rounds.
  6. To an extent I'm as guilty as many, but, we worry too much about those fractions of seconds. Instead of throwing money at lightweight barrels and carbon fiber handguards, etc., we need to be practicing more, training our bodies to sprint faster and doing things to save seconds instead of the fractions. BUT, I just ordered a new JP even though I have a very good pcc already. So do as I say, not as I do.
  7. If I was going mpx I'd definitely go for the gen 3. IMO the two best are the mpx and JP. It's kinda like asking which is better, a ford or a chevy.
  8. I've not done any real work with tuning yet. I will soon, since I've got a new JP on the way. But it would seem to me that the heavier the spring/buffer is, you need more force to push the bolt back far enough to reset the trigger. The trick is to find just the right amount that resets the trigger without being any more than that. So I think you're right--"heavier spring requires higher pf"
  9. Where do you keep the back-up gun? In your vehicle or do you carry it around with you? How much time do you have to go back and get it if needed?
  10. I like the Taylor Freelance +10 basepads. Whatever optics you like and it sounds like you're good for now. Like you say--trigger time.
  11. My thinking too. That's why I ordered the 5 steel weights since I wanted to start with the lighter loads I already have. I figure I can always either add weights or add powder to increase the PF. In the end I really wonder how much real difference it will make, but it should be fun playing with.
  12. Keeping the gun tight in my shoulder is my weakness too. Of course I'm old and slow, that doesn't help either.
  13. Another thing to remember is that whatever nuances in feel that the top shooters can tell will probably be lost on average shmoes like me. But I won't know until I play with it.
  14. Well, imo, you don't need a definition for weak shoulder. "mounted to the shoulder on the weak side of the body". Unless someones body has more than one shoulder on one side of their body no further explanation is needed. Plain ole common sense tells me that.
  15. Because that's what I've been running in my current pcc. That's the PLAN, but plans change. I will do some experimenting. That's why I started the thread.
  16. Has anyone ran a box or so of factory ammo through their new gun first or just started in with their reloads?
  17. OK, that's fine, I agree with that. It kinda sounded like something else at first, like uspsa wasn't safe. That as my point earlier also.
  18. pskys2, what do you mean by "no restriction on safe techniques'?
  19. I ordered the standard SS system with 5 steel. I plan on shooting light loads, about 130 PF.
  20. To me it boils down to IDPA mostly requires that you shoot abc targets from 1st position, def from second position, etc., etc. USPSA says shoot the targets as they become visible. You figure out what to shoot from where.
  21. Well, I ordered a JP today. I'll report back in a couple of months.
  22. How much are the bmiller magwells?
