  1. How many rounds through the gun? mine was very tight when i first got it, kept it very wet and shot about 400 rounds of 9major in an evening re-oiling a few times and most of the initial problems went away. i still had intermittent issues along the way but after getting Grams to tune my mags the problems pretty much disappeared entirely. i'm hoping the mbx mags solve that permanently, my one new big stick seems good so far. mine's all stock springs too. obviously gotta rule out ammo itself too. i case gauge everything with a hundo now.
  2. i recently had what sounds like the same symptoms with a 16" rifle gas 308 build, obviously short dwell time and i couldn't get it to run even at wide open on the gas block. i did a bunch of reading on various gas port sizes and determined the port was slightly undersized, measured 0.081" so i drilled it out to 0.089" and that put it right in the middle of the gas block range and runs great now. gas port and alignment is where i'd start based on what you said if the rearward travel looks ok.
  3. it definitely made my old cmore much dirtier! current sro lens is farther away so it fares better. honestly i think the 1/8" pair is probably a little small to see large changes. looking at popples on the atlas chaos and other 9mm 2011 they're commonly 3/16" and therefore much more area than mine. i didn't dislike any changes i've made , and i may cut mine bigger at some point. but i've kinda stopped caring about the gun since it just keeps running so i just shoot it.
  4. I also drilled a couple of speed holes in the sides of one of the comp chambers
  5. i had a pair put in just before the beginning of the comp as i didnt want more carbon getting into the threads as it still has to be taken off occasionally. mine are pretty small at 1/8" as it's easy to go bigger and i cut the slide to accomodate a third if i decided i wanted another.
  6. what grip is that? and does it wrap completely around the rear of the frame? looks great and good luck with that thing!
  7. So yea, what optic are you all running and what mount?
  8. I've got a big stick coming as well, hoping for an easily reloadable 29 with minimal fuss
  9. i drilled and tapped my stock cmore mount to mount an SRO and it's held up very well. the mount itself loosened up twice until i drilled and tapped the frame for a 4th hole and enlarged the non-blind holes.
  10. i turn mine on at the safe table gunning up and off at the end of the match, don't think about it much at all unless light conditions are way outside normal, just take a look at make ready. locked mode as well. i haven't run any battery dead yet but i change it maybe once a year or before a major match just in case.
  11. I've been shooting my CM for a few years now and it's been very reliable once the mags were dealt with, but with MBX starting to produce cz mags maybe that's a non issue any longer. I've struggled with he same issue, backup CM or try 2011. but i don't feel the cz has held me back from getting better in any way, all my mistakes are my dumb fault. Now i've never shot a 2011 on the clock but with my same 9major cartridge in my friend's full size 2011, the 2011 produced a more linear motion of the dot compared to my CM more erratic motion. I've read the cz action is quite a bit faster resulting in the less linear dot movement compared to 2011, though i have preferred the action of the cz over shorty 2011s every time. i vastly prefer the cz over every 2011 in my hands, but if they perform better on the clock i'll make the change. and with so many grip options now you can almost make a 2011 feel like a proper cz!
  12. I don't have much skin in the game regarding Prod, CO, or Lim major. But i've been thinking if SAO CO or whatever it gets called happens, and there's lots of talk these days, here's my most recent thoughts on them: take CO back to Production Optics but make both Prod and PO 15 rounds then add Limited Optics with limited rules major/minor only is where i can see both arguments it would add a bit more divisional distance between CO and SAO CO, but it wouldn't make current CO guns instantly obsolete, just add magwell really, or maybe take off basepads if that's deemed a problem. But it might also fit all the new shooters better into P or PO better with factory mags.
  13. wel i've definitely got some practice ahead of me to get reliably below 3s. but for sure i'm much more concerned about consistent reloads while moving rather than classifier type reloads. i'll have to set some par times and have at it.
  14. I use a pair of kydex pouches i picked up off Enos used, don't recall brand, that needed a bit of thinning to snugly secure mags but they hold great now. i have them on els clips and one goes across the front of my belt sideways for a quick static position first mag change. the other i built a drop offset hanger on an els that positions itself so i grab it at the right height regardless of mag size and will hold a full 20 round securely and leans away from me without getting much in my way if i have to deal with other guns first. pretty much all my mags also have kydex hangers taped onto them to slip over my belt around me and is the standard loadout method if the pouches are less than ideal.
  15. So i've shot one indoor match with my 929 now that it's actually going bang each time (thanks Toolguy!) and everything feels totally alien coming from pistols. Other than my first reload when i reached for a moon and tried to hit the mag release that doesn't exist on a revo... i feel like i started to figure out reloading just a tiny bit. timer shows my last stage reloads were mid 3 seconds. still feels slow but i have no reference. what style do you reload and what's a good target time for a real world match reload?
  16. i understand the SC argument against major, but i've both used and read a lot of SRP in 9major. forgive me for asking, but why is it not a good idea?
  17. while i haven't broken any yet, i've cycled a few through but like round count i suppose i'm pretty bad about keeping track of them too because the non broken ones become backups and i stopped changing them. hell my gun has all (but 1) original springs still, which i fully acknowledge are VERY overdue replacing! i found a broken firing pin return spring once cleaning it but it hadn't caused any problems. i really should clean it out more often too, i did a pretty good cleaning with full sear cage, heavy pick scraping of corners, and spraying it out last month but my hammer and trigger have never been out of it, and now that i've built a lower ledge thing for the bottom of my hand with tape and rubber i loathe the idea of taking the grips off even. i just keep the locking lugs and rails clean and wet and lube it before every match.
  18. i should have been keeping better records but i suspect mine's in the roughly 30k-35k range. honestly, it's been great. nearly all major, initially super major as before i owned a chrono i used my friend's STi open ammo load that turned out to be 189pf through my barrel. only real issue i've had has been the usual magazine problems before having them tuned and my optic mount loosening up before i drilled them out bigger and added a 4th screw.
  19. that's for sure, especially coming from open major! it's really odd feeling both incredibly slow yet so totally busy at the same time
  20. Shot my 929 for the first time with a timer sunday, all speer brass, fed spp, and .040 tk federal moons worked great even if i was pretty terrible with DA and irons and reloading a revolver on the clock. turns out a simple mag release press with my thumb does nothing on a revolver... the buzzer really is a mind eraser. i probably have my spring screw set a little higher than needed but with the new hammer it's still plenty smooth and more importantly set off all rounds and never short stroked shooting fast. so far so good!
  21. 223 is basically the civilian equivalent to 5.56 and will work just fine in your rifle assuming it's chambered in 5.56. 300 blackout has a 7.62mm projectile and is not compatible with your barrel. but you can build another upper receiver with a 300 blackout chambered barrel. that upper can use your other nc15 parts like the bolt carrier group and complete lower and mags, that's the beauty of 300blk, just needs a bigger barreled upper.
  22. I always like playing with ar triggers off the clock but rarely care much or notice unless it's a normal mil spec or worse. i do prefer a little bit more reset pressure but again on the clock don't really care. I run a hiperfire ECL on my 3gun rifle because i had some light primer strikes early on before i found a cracked bolt causing it, it's fast enough and should set off any primer. i tried a KE arms slt2 in my wwsd lightweight "fighting/run'n'gun" ar because it's design KE says is less susceptible to the popped out primer killing trigger function. plus the design lets you engage the safety regardless of hammer position.
  23. hahaha i love it, i refer to my KL-12 as Vera. good luck!
  24. my mpx started life as an 8" pistol and it's pinned and welded with a taccom aluminum extension and it is much less front heavy than the pcc version, for better or worse
  25. placed my order last night. i'd been playing with springs and such, and couldn't easily get both a lighter trigger and proper reset. I'm hoping this is that answer for some revolver action this year
