  1. He mentioned the powder drop which is in lots of post here, also as things get tested/upgraded they will become available. We chatted mostly about the press and Mark7 in general....and its all good stuff.
  2. I called and spoke with Jay. The (current) website is a little confusing and it appeared that the PowderSense would work on an Evo manual.
  3. I called Mk7 on my drive home and talked to the owner (Jay). Jay indicated that the shipping calculator is not working correctly. While I had his ear I got an update on my press. It's on the assembly line and will be on a pallet to DAA soon enough. I also learned that this batch will have many updates over previously shipped machines. Jay seems like a stand up guy and we chatted for quite some time. He's committed to putting out a first class machine with first class customer service. After our call I feel he is achieving both.
  4. Thanks for your comment. I was going to call them but was hoping to hear if other people felt like shipping costs were high. Perhaps it changes once you get a serial number and can create an account. Also, I'm fairly certain Mark7 is keeping an eye on a very popular thread on a site that is full of possible customers. Cheers
  5. Shipping costs from Mark7. I was thinking of picking up a few items while I wait for my Evo to come in. However, UPS ground is the cheapest option on Mark7 site at a cost of $31.40! Seems a tad high for shipping two Extra Spring Kits and one Mark7 PowderSense Complete Sensor (total cost of parts $144.89) from FL to MA. I shipped via the shipping department here in my office an entire Dillon 650 with accessories in its original box and a Dillon Case Feeder in a separate box from MA to CA for $33 FedEx ground....that was for both boxes! I can see paying $10, possible $12 for what I want from Mark7, but $33 seems very high. I'd like to hears from others on this thread but feedback/explanation directly from Mark7 will be greatly appreciated.
  6. Thanks for the info. Seems like Evo Pro shipping direct from Mk7 are coming out a faster....which kinda makes sense, more money = move up the time frame.
  7. Good for you. I'm trying to get a sense for when I can expect to get my shipping notice. I ordered and Evolution from DAA on June 6, 2018 and I'm located in MA. Do you mind answering the following: What press did you order, what date did you order it, where did you order from (Mk7, DAA, Shooters) and where are you located? Thanks, Alan
  8. When I got my in the ear hearing aids they made a mold locally but the aids where made elsewhere. Might be the same for plugs.
  9. I started practicing with the local USPSA last winter with a Sig 226, no belt, holster or mag pouches. I soon when out and bought a used STI DVC Limited. Got a great deal as the owner was using it as a carry gun and soon found out it was a tad big! I did handle and shoot one prior to buying it so I knew I would like it. Once we moved outdoors in the spring I realized my eye were useless at anything outside 20 feet! I simply could not hit anything accurately. At that point I considered putting an optic on the DVC but everyone I talked to said "Go Open". So, I started looking and within a few weeks I found a 2011 open gun in 9mm here. Again I got lucky, as this time the owner was getting out of the sport and only have around 1000 rounds through it. I make an offer and we meet in the middle! I sold the STI locally, keep the mags and still made money on the deal. I shot the Open gun all summer but unfortunately my schedule is beyond crazy so I still have to make a match. However, I absolutely love the 2011 platform (not that I can hit what I'm aiming at) and worked up a major load. The recoil is very manageable (even for a little guy like me < 165 lb typically). In the middle I picked up a belt, holster and mag pouches. All were used with the exception of the pouches. IMO running and shooting is a blast (as I shot bullseye for years), and shooting Open Major is icing on the cake. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
  10. Did you order directly from Mark 7 or elsewhere. However, I'm assuming all orders will be delayed including from DAA (where I ordered from). I honestly don't mind waiting assuming I will be getting a better machine.
  11. I bought the large and immediately returned it for the medium. I can get all I need in it and I don't need to hire a rigger to move it!
  12. Re: Evo location. Thanks to all who posted. Our storage garage is my least favorite choice. We recently moved and space inside is a premium. We went from 2,600 sq/ft 3 bed plus another 1,200 or so in unconditioned storage to a 1,200 sq/ft 2 bed apartment and a standard garage....thats full, front to back, floor to ceiling. However, I do have another location that is conditioned but not close to our apartment I will most likely use. At least it sounds like I can dump the powder fairly easily between runs. Cheers, Alan
  13. I have a Micro 9mm for carry and like it. It shoots well, accurate and reliable for close quarters. Would not want to shoot a match with it as its way too small. I had both Glock 42 and 43 but the Kimber is miles ahead it fit, finish and in trigger feel. Pulling the trigger on the Glocks was like dragging a stick through gravel at arms length, whereas the Kimber is far more crisp, not Open gun crisp but good enough.
  14. Thanks from the info tanks. Perhaps someone with a manual Evo will chime in with similar. Cheers
  15. Question for the Evolution owners but I suspect any Mk7 owners will be able to respond. We moved recently and I'm tight on reloading space.....actually its non existent at this point. I did however carve out a space in our storage garage where I could possible set up my Evo. The question is; is it possible to easily/quickly dump all the powder out of the powder hopper so I can store the powder in a heated space and not in the garage? Oiling up the machine is not an issue to prevent surface rust from forming but I don't think leaving the powder in the hopper in the garage is a good idea. The idea would be to crank out a few rounds, then clear the press until I need to repeat the process.......my reloading time is also limited. Cheers, Alan
  16. But when the “Brown truck of joy” shows up it usually has a gun related toys in it!
  17. You can do what you want on a 650 all day long and in one pass. I only use range brass as you can't beat the price and I'm too cheap to buy it! At the start I was decapping, wet tumbling then running the bass back through the 650 for loading. At some point I cut out the decapping and when straight from wet tumbling to the press. Every pull on the handle was one round. I did not have a Mr. Bullet feeder just the case feeder and that's a necessity. I'm sure I'm not as fussy as some of the other folks on this forum when it comes to tolerances, however, I had a range and keep within it. I normally do a check powder weight every 100 or so and every round when into a case checker. If it failed that it got pulled. The 650 is not without its issues and there are books written on powder spills, jerky indexing heads and everything in between. You figure out work-a-round and ways of addressing all and move on. I have 2 kids and time is a premium so my reloading time is limited. Typically I would crank out 500 or so and call it a night. I'm upgrading as I'm a techie/mechanical geek and I know the base Mk 7 Evo is a better machine that my 650 ever could be, also, I did not want to deal with all the issue on a 1050, so that rule it out. I learned on a 550 and immediately know that it was way to manual so that definitely rules out all single stage machines. I'm not into rolling my own rifle ammo and don't think I ever will, so drinking the Cool Aid and jumping onto a just above beta machine is okay with me. Like I said the base Evo (the guts of the machine) are build like a brick $hit house and after years of watching my 650 indexing plate go up as well are round because of bad castings and other issues I'm done for now with Dillon. That's not to say it will not work for you or others but I'm shooting more and want something better to load on. Also, I'm young enough to get a few years of it and old enough to see value in it.
  18. I had about the same as CrashDodson in my 650.
  19. That's about what I got for mine. I traded for a gun which came with extra mags and grips. I reckon dollar for dollar I got more in trade value. Also, I still have a bunch of extras that I need to sell off/trade.....so more play money!
  20. Wow....that was a wait. I’m very hopeful I’ll get mine this month. Keep us updated.
  21. Good for you. When and from where did you order?
  22. Like rmckinle I used to process on my 650 with a separate head with only a decapping die. Then I wet tumbled, let them air dry, swapped the head and loaded. However, I sold the 650 to make room for a Mark7 Evo and I will not pre-process....just tumble, dry and process/load in one pass.
  23. If anyone is in the Northeast next weekend and wants to kill some time my club is having an open house. Its always a good time and all are welcome. Come by and visit me in the main tent, I'll be displaying my semi auto Bren Gun I built from a parts kit. Westford Sportsman's Club - 80 West St, Westford, MA 01886-1224, United States
  24. I use a Plano bate box. http://www.planomolding.com/fishing/stowawayr-utility-boxes/prolatch-six-compartment-stowaway-3600 I can fit three in the bottom compartment of my range bag. One has tools, one cleaning supplies and the third ammo. Not sure on the round count, but it works well and the separate compartments stop the ammo from flopping around too much. The other two I removed the interior compartment dividers so I can use the whole space.
  25. HS-6. My current load is Precision Delta's 124 JHP over 7.8 grains of HS-6 with an OAL of 1.145.....plunk test passed!
