  1. I have never loaded for 145 grain bullets but according to VV load data for 147 grain you could start at 3.1 and go to 3.9. I would also start with seating the bullet at 1.150 and then experiment staying within the 3.1 to 3.9 and also different seating depths. I would not go lower on the seating depth that the load data on VV shows for the 9mm on 147 grain. Also as you experiment look for signs of over pressure and sticky extraction. The 38 short colt as I have found closely resemble 9mm and I have found 9mm loads to work well.
  2. I could not find the topic that I predicted the price of 929's would drop after the newness dropped off. Last 2 days on GB used for $825 and new $880. Now is the time to look for a 929 if you want one or an extra one. Me I will just stick with my 627's and 27's. ✌
  3. 3.2 grains n320 seated 1.175 pf128
  4. Great advice !!! And, I even screwed this one up once - had some partially obscured targets and I counted one target twice - so even though I missed another target, I thought every target was accounted for ... Been there done that. Lol
  5. On your walk through count the number of shots. If it doesn't match the wsb you are missing a target somewhere.
  6. This is from the production approved list. "(Any DAO or DA/SA revolver with a barrel length of up to 8.5" is approved) All ported models of approved guns are approved for use in Production and Carry Optics, as long as the barrel is not ported." So are ports allowed or not? This seemed funny to me and why not just say no ported models.
  7. I shoot my revolvers all the time. In USPSA I shoot both my iron sighted 8 shot in Revolver class and shoot my open ICORE revolver in open class minor at the local matches. I do not care if there are other revolver shooters as I shoot for fun. I consistently place in the top 5 overall and sometimes win the match which doesn't mean much as maybe the other competitors are not that good. As long as I am having a good time and shooting my revolvers I am having fun. I try to make as many ICORE matches as possible cause I know that there will be a good number of revolver shooters. As far as USPSA major matches I go to the Nationals as it is only 120 miles from my home. If I have the time and money I will try to attend other USPSA matches and will shoot revolver only. If I happen to be the only one that signs up and I don't do anything stupid I get first place and last place and the satisfaction of beating some of the bottom feeders in the overall. Yeah it sucks that there is not enough revolver shooters at some matches to get recognized, but hey I don't do this for a living, I'm not sponsored and I am having fun. No matter where I shoot I always get my brass back and people always ask about my revolver, especially my open revolver. Some make fun of it until after I shoot sometimes and I just bested there time by 5 to 10 seconds and points. I get a kick out of asking the guys who are scrounging thru the grass and separating brass and saying that is mine or that is my markings. I always ask if they happened to pick up any of my brass and or course I say it with a big smile. So I say shoot your revolvers to your hearts content and have fun.
  8. Now that's why I like this guy and if I ever needed an attorney I would definitely have Mike in my corner. ✌
  9. I ran out one time shooting a revolver and the last target needed one more round. So I pulled out my knife and scored an A. But the RO still gave me a mike. I was trying to improvise, adapt and overcome. Oh well.
  10. The first time I was introduced to ICORE was in 1995 as I attended a bowling pin shoot at Montrose Colorado and it was a side match for the IRC. I attended the IRC in 1996 in Montrose and I think it was still in Montrose in 97. Then I think it went to Reno in 1998 and from there to California until last year. The first 3 might have been held in California but I don't know but after I attended in 96 I became the Rocky Mountain Regional rep and was on the board for 4 years and actually started the man on man shoot off that was held on Sunday. It used to be we just waited around on Sunday until noon for the prizes and trophies. It made sense that we still had bullets and a shoot off could be started and completed prior to noon. I would have liked to see one at Frostproof but like the Far and Near Standards it was shelved. Will you be attending the IRC this year? I already have signed up and looking forward to it. You came to Iowa one year on vacation and I met you at Lowell Iowa and we shot a Uspsa match. Or at least I think it was you.
  11. Some of the very first were held in Montrose Colorado and 1 was in Reno Nevada.
  12. Isn't incompetent a better word to use instead of "retard"
  13. Yes it does and that can be attributed to the change in location and time of year. With it going to Frostproof Florida this year and the first of November. Time will only tell if numbers drop again. As of 10 days after registration opened up on May 1 and 137 have signed up it is looking pretty good. Still better than 86.
  14. Yes moving it to coincide with SS did help the numbers grow the first year but have declined ever since. During that time the Memphis Charity Revolver match only had taken place in 2010, 11 and 12 with respective numbers of 69, 76 and 63 it has not been held since then and will be held again this year. Also during this time the IRC in 2009, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 had numbers of 209, 222, 232, 241, 236, 202 and 176. I guess what I am trying to point out that when it is a revolver only match on its own not following anything you get more numbers. When I look back at Production and Limited there numbers were good but when moved to stand alone they went from Limited 159 to 296 and Production from 177 to 375. Now grant it these are more popular divisions but when moved they grew. Not saying revolver would grow that much but I think it would definitely make a difference. Regardless if they ever make it a stand alone I will still go as there is something about revolver that makes my motor run, Another way to look at it is if only 10 show up I will have a top 10 finish.
  15. What were the numbers in the four years prior to that? That I don't know.
  16. The numbers speak for themselves. In 2013 there were 119 in 2014 113 in 2015 106 and this year 86. Seems to me that if you take the 9 to 10 that stay over per year to shoot revolver the numbers are still dropping. If it was a stand alone nationals and held on Friday Saturday or Saturday Sunday I think you would see more participation as would be more apt to spend the money and time to travel for a few days instead of 1 on a Sunday. Especially on Mothers Day. If you do not shoot SS why would you spend the extra $225 entry fee for SS and extra days in a hotel just to shoot the revolver nationals if you are a revolver shooter? Saturday for SS is usually filled by slots and I imagine that the 9 to 10 shooters that stayed shot SS on Saturday. I could be wrong on that. Myself I shoot both as I only live 120 miles away from Berry but most don't have that luxury. So back to SS only helping with the numbers. If you take out the 9 to 10 that came over in 2013 and the 9 to 10 that stayed in 2016 the number of revolver shooters dropped from 109 to 76. That is a drop in revolver shooters by 30% in just 4 years. Seems like we are going in the wrong direction. Don't get me wrong I think it was great of Pasa Park to put on the revolver nationals and the 3 I attended were fantastic (my performance was not LOL). I just think that a stand alone would bring the numbers back up. An idea would be to try SS on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Revolver on Saturday. Maybe even let revolver shoot with the SS as the stages are not changed that much or at all. I don't have all the answers but revolver nationals is headed in the wrong direction. Congratulations to this years winners in SS and Revolvers.
  17. Any theory has to why nationals participation tanked? Here is my theory on why and it is on the topic I started labeled "Premier Revolver Match 2016" Looks like this year's IRC will again be the place to be for revolver competition. With 131 signed up in just 7 days from the opening of registration. I think this goes to show that a stand alone Revolver match whether it be the IRC or USPSA Revolver Nationals can draw the number of shooters when held by themselves. I myself could not attend the Revolver Nationals this year due to medical reasons but even with me there total count would only be 89. To me that is a sad showing for a national match and I do believe the turn out and declining numbers are due to the piggybacking on the SS Nationals and being held on Mother's Day. Run this as a stand alone Nationals, a 2 to 3 day format, not coinciding with any other national matches and I truly believe that the numbers would go up and have as many shooter's as the IRC. This is just one man's opinion and I have been known to be wrong before but given what the IRC has done year after year for the last 25 years and is still going strong it seems like they are doing something right.
