  1. Careful out there.....you are in panther country. I saw a panther take down a deer in the Chisos Mountians of Big Bend National Park in Texas......it was thrilling to see while still terrifying as that cat could have easily dropped the deer and taken me. Yes I have some crummy pictures of the whole thing too. Panther attack on deer. BB
  2. It just warms my heart to see real LEO"s out shooting USPSA.....and shooting it well. But then again I've seen real LEO"s show up at IDPA matches and literally tag every single no-shoot. BB
  3. Can anyone corroborate the claim that any barrel length beyond say six inches will slow your typical 9mm bullet? Being that the 9mm was intended as a pistol cartidge after all. BB
  4. I believe this exact question was addressed recently over in the ammo and reloading section. Kind of explains why I cant find primers and such. I guess you have concerns regarding oxygen induced lead styphnate degredation of primers? Your primers are most certainly stable for decades in cool dry earth atmosphere......aka your basement. BB
  5. Some excellent ideas here. Has anyone used an online escort, I mean escrow service? Escrow services are used for like autos and such. This would be in the area of $3k so I would have do something, or just not offer at all. BB
  6. There's this nice and expensive pistol on gunbroker. Seller has never sold anything on that site so has no history. What procedures should I follow if I go through with the purchase? I mean if a cashiers check for the item is overnighted, and purchased pistol never shows at my FFL?? BB
  7. I knew IDPA shooters, that never shoot USPSA, yet belong just so they can get Front Sight Magazine. Lets just say the IDPA equivalent publication does not quite meet the reading needs of its membership sometimes. BB
  8. Wow :surprise: I thought I was bad keeping a single year's stuff on hand. Better specify in your last will and testament where your stockpile goes.......maybe start a junior shooters reloading endowment? You are kinda late to the stockpiling party though. Things will settle down by end of this year I predict. BB
  9. I have and shoot all the popular Glocks. In USPSA however, I have to "work harder" (more careful and time consuming sighting) for the long range shots with the G17, than with say the G34 or G35. In fact I believe those of us shooting the G34 or 35 have an advantage when it comes to the longer harder shots. BB
  10. EXCELLENT WRITE UP! First on World Wide Web with a KHAN mag writeup. Countless future Google searches will lead straight to your piece. Pour yourself a cold one. Then there exist only THREE "makers" of G17 mags: 1) Glock of course 2) KCI .... Korean and mostly well liked. 3) KHAN ...... mystery mag that is universally disliked. Someone needs to get the details on this CON, I mean KHAN mag. Chinese origin maybe? Looks like the site has been edited stating "KHAN" not KCI. BB
  11. I ordered March 3, and called this Monday to cancel after reading that they are crap on this forum - never heard of KHAN before. The ten packs are no longer listed on their web site, and I think they sold out. When I called to cancel he gave me BS about my credit card was declined - lucky me Anyway, I think they just made up the credit card decline part as they sold out. I consider myself lucky at this point. Still I would buy KCI in a heart beat. I cant remember......did the site state the 10packs were KCI's or did they just say Korean? BB ps......sorry I ever started this thread given the outcome.
  12. The way I see it..... a ) reputable members say they run well.....(NOT saying you are wrong in your analysis). b ) the price is right. c ) even if they are crap, then they become my basement practice/dropper mags, so as to save my OEM's. d ) part of my inventory plan for items that may be unobtainable someday soon. BB
  13. I for one will not be getting a high-end AR15 for multigun this year, due to the long long wait and near stockout situation with 223 ammo. Both of the above issues need to improve considerably before I go forward with a new rifle order. Maybe next year. Unfortunately this is one area of our sport that I feel shut out of at the moment......unless I find decent used equipment at less than newgun pricing ( oh yeah, I guess I'm paying a no-wait premium for the used stuff ). BB
  14. Good question. I've seen some steel that is just plain slooooooow to go down. Nothing wrong with trying to hit that stuff with higher PF rounds. Personally I'd rather just hit it twice and not worry about keeping ammo that organized. Anyone out there play this game in a multi ammo manner? (always making declared PF of course) I think this applies to minor only. BB
  15. Ok.......I'm in too. Ordered the O'Bamster 10-Pack.........(Ten 9mm mags for G17). Do they make a 40SW mag for G35's? Have not seen one yet. BB
  16. I had to tweak mine ever so slightly as it was beginning to double. This was with a very high milage G34 with lots of frame to slide slop. Instead, I probably just should have done the hammer/anvil process to snug up the rails on slide, but this involves the hassle of removing rear sight in order to get proper directional hammer tap. Unless your gun is doubling I would not even consider messing with it. But then if you go too far the part is cheap to replace. Since it is hardened, there is a chance it will snap. BB
  17. Is a new JP15 "unobtaniium" material these days? If its 4months out...............forget about it. Either we get AWB-ed again or things settle down demand wise..............guess I'll just take my chances and wait. BB
  18. Simple question.......not sure if JP will even try to answer it. At this point I may just give up on serious 3gun equipment given the way things are going. BB
  19. Most all the time I seem able to follow the sights as they rise and fall going from shot to shot - during say 20 yd drills at steel plate. However, sometimes my sight picture will shift as the sights rise, from the right eye dominate image (clear front sight in rear notch) to what the non dominant eye sees. Funny thing is, this only tends to happen in dimmer lighting or cloudy days, or when shooting at bullseye pattern targets. When the light is bright or when shooting while moving my sight picture stays with the dominant right eye image. Any neat practice ideas on "burning in" only what the right eye sees while the gun cycles? BB
  20. Hmmmmm..... I just picked up a G17 with same sights recently and its spot-on at 25 yards. Give those sights of yours a real close examination for irregularities. Also, some folks tend to incorrectly sight up on the black outlines of sights instead of the white parts. White dot is to be centered in the rear white notch, with the top of white dot level with the top posts of rear white notch. Not that you are doing this, but I thought I'd mention it. BB PS.....I put Sevigny competions sights on above G17, which I have on all my competition Glocks.....these sights rule IMO.
  21. Myself, and others, have redirected 401K contributions out of stocks and into pistol primers, bullets and finished ammo......hence the shortages. BB
  22. I just asked for a blood test last time at docs office. Came back very low.....all ok. My point is the test was only $90. I think all higher volume shooters should take this test, especially if shooting indoors. BB
  23. That is a good question. Anyone have good bullet-making capacity utilization numbers? To be clear, I assume you mean the bullet makers - not finished ammo. Finished ammo is getting gobbled up by the same folks that chased semi auto pistols and black rifles post obama out of AWB concerns........and thats on top of high military and agency demands on .223 and 40SW, etc. Who buys just pistol bullets? Its folks like us in action shooting sports mostly. Is everyone stockpiling? - NOT ME! I think the bullet makers are just trying to ride the postobama stockup wave. And I suspect unlike say Glock pistols and AR15's, bullet makers yr-over-yr numbers are flat at best. BB
  24. Somebody(s) please step forward and take up the void. I'm not even remotely qualified, but I could certainly name some local names.......but won't. Just drop all the comercial side of things as in chasing sponsors (saving time for what really matters), and focus on 8 or more quality stages. Try and maintain level III status. If match fee needs to be adjusted, so be it. I know capable shooter/organizers are out there........ BB
  25. I would be hard pressed to name any BAD higher-volume name brand 9mm ammo for the G34. It will run them all and ask for more. Before reloading I ran Blazer 115 grain, and can honestly say I fired at least 40,000 rounds of this stuff with only one clearly ammo related failure to fire that I remember. I have at least 4000 rounds of Blazer in my basement. Repeat to self 10 times...... "you can never have too much ammo ".................... BB
