  1. I'm willing to bet the bottom of the paddle on the safety isn't fit to the grip and is hitting the grip. Pretty common thing on EGW safetys.
  2. @Dirty_J and @AHI I found the plunk test issue odd as well. i didn't really get that part at all. I think the RN bullets are tapered closer to the rear of the bullet and that the cone ones aren't. I do know the 1911/2011 barrels are tight as heck. Unlike the sig P320 barrels. They need very good roll sized brass to run good. P320 doest care at all. Thanks for the info on the seating depth. I was driving myself crazy about it last night. I'm new to reloading still so I check things a lot.
  3. Actually never mind. These are irritating me too much. Glad I only bought 500. Gonna load them and just shoot them in the P320. At 1.120" they don't plunk test in the 1911 or 2011 anyways and I have no issues with 1.128" with the round nose bullets. I'll stick with RN and be happy.
  4. So I've run all 135gn RN bullets so far and after getting used to reloading them this year I'm really comfortable with the very minor changes in OAL. My target OAL was 1.128 and they would range from 1.126 to 1.130. The MBF ran great, and I only ran into one issue where sometimes the bullet would not drop into the case at the bullet drop station. Everything was dang near perfect and I liked it. About half way through the season I shot a major and almost didn't make PF due to a under weight bullet. This was odd to me as I never had this issue before. But I hadn't done a lot or really much of any checking on bullet weights. I would weight 3 or 4 if I switched brands due to availability. After that experience I started really checking weights and found that almost nobody's bullets actually weighed 135gn consistanly. Some were bad enough to drop the average down to 133gn on a ten round spread. I went even further after finding this and have a process I use now where I take 20 rounds in 2 ten round batches note each one's weight and average the ten rounds. Then take the two batches and average that. That becomes the bullet weight I use when calculating PF. This lead me to buy a bunch of different brands in search of the best average. Which lead me to about 3 companies I'm happy with on consistent weight, coating and cost. One of them, and honestly the heaviest of all of them is blue bullets. This brings me to my issues I currently have. They are a truncated cone bullet. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. Just swap the seating stem out and reset the seating die. Well..... not so much. Dumped some into the MBF and it was dropping them upside down. Got that sorted out ok, I'll get one in 100 upside down or it will pop the bullet right out of the bowl onto the floor. Haven't figured that out yet but I'll get it I think with some more minor adjusting. The big issue I have is OAL. My P320s are fine with the plunk test at 1.128". 1911 not even close. Won't fit the mags. So I started shortening the OAL till I was comfortable with how they fit the mag. Now I'm at 1.119 target and my spread for OAL is 1.117 to 1.121. This is fine as they all fit into the 1911 mag good. But do I need to worry about pressure now and readjust the powder drop? Or is a .01" change in OAL not as big of a deal as I'm thinking it is? Apologies for the extra long post but I wanted to make sure I got all the info I can think of out and explained everything. Thanks, Josh Baker
  5. Ramshot comp is my favorite powder so far. Meters extremely well, clean shooting, little to no smoke. It has replaced TG for me. All loading 9 minor.
  6. So on the advice of Chandler Lafrain I decided to try some of this ramshot comp for 9 minor. I had been using titegroup since started reloading this year and was a bit hesitant to start changing things on the press since I had help setting everything up and wasn't 100% sure how to adjust the dies and clean the powder measure. Well I decided to take it really slow and probably over cleaned the powder measure and dies but I have been 100% happy with the result. WAY less smoke, like night and day difference. Meters so much better. I set the powder drop for 3.82gn on 5 10 round average tests. And have checked random drops every so often in the last 2000 rounds and each one was 3.8gn. Never got that with TG. Case fill is much easier to see when loading. For me recoil seems to be the same. I loaded a couple mags in my p320 legion out of a bucket of random rounds from the TG and Ramshot comp loads and couldn't tell a difference at all. Only difference was the TG had SNS bullets and the ramshot comp load had BBI bullets. My load data incase anyone ever wonders 135gn BBI rn coated bullet CCI spp 1.129OAL 3.82GN Ramshot Comp 10 shot average 130PF.
  7. The 500 pack I picked up looks good so far. Haven't loaded and shot them yet but coating looks good and weight is pretty spot on. I did 2 10rnd tests and average of both was 135. A couple just under and some just over. A lot better then some other bullets I've used.

    AXG Grip?

This is exactly how I decided the p320 max was a good deal. Came with 4 mags, R3max, excellent factory trigger. Basicly you got 4 free mags and the best factory trigger I've felt on any p320. As for the AGX grip module I've been mulling over the idea of getting one for a bit. I talked with the people at Armory Craft about the weight difference between their grip panels and back strap VS a tgx module with the SSI tungsten weight. It's about a 1oz difference give or take as I haven't actually weighed a AGX grip. I've also inquire with GG about getting the upper setup that Isaac Lockwood ran at nats this year. I know it's a 4.6" slide and believe it had the heavy barrel like a legion does. I think that setup would be pretty cool.
  9. The tri top will take a lot of weight off. Which is good. But a lot of it is personal preference really.
  10. Is this in 40 and does it have the full dust cover, not a railed dust cover? My slide was light but not crazy. Tri topped and a few ports up front. Tungsten guide rod and 12lb recoil spring ran great. My PF was about 168 with a 200gn blue bullet. At the time I wasn't reloading so I shot NC Shooters ammo. As far as other stuff we spent a ton of time finding a sear/hammer combo that we could make light and be consistent. Ended up using EGW long sear and EGW light hammer. 17lb main spring and colt/EGW sear spring. I had a lot of fun with that gun and the new owner loves it. Sean at PGW has done a bunch of them now and is really good at getting them to run really well and can cut the frame to use 2011 mags. We didn't cut my frame and I was able to use 2011 mags. The biggest issue with the RIA guns is consistency in the placement of key areas like sear and hammer pin holes.
  11. My RIA didn't have a slide racker but we did do a lot of milling on the slide. I was shooting for Prasky Gunworks at the time so if I wanted one Sean Would have just milled the dovetail in. My current limited gun has a Brazos slide racker, and I have used others. My recommendation would be to just get the correct end mill as they are not expensive. The idea of just cutting a squared slot isn't going to work. You have nothing holding the racker to the slide. And I 100% agree with @Brazos Customon using their end mill if you decide to use their racker. It fits great and they have the only truly left handed racker I have found worth putting on a gun. This is my current setup and all three uppers have a Brazos slide racker.
  12. Prasky Gunworks did a regent HP clone for me. All C&S internals, and cut slide for a red dot. It's fun but not really a competition gun. I've shot a few IDPA matches with it. I really want one of the new SA35s but being left handed I want to know if standard HP ambi safety will fit.
  13. Well after emailing back and forth with Mike Barrera the E2 grip is good to go with the cheely beavertail but the L2 grip would need a functional grip safety. Lucky for me I want the E2.
  14. Thank you. Email my coordinator. I find it odd they don't do like USPSA and have a set rules people so everyone gets the same answer.
  15. My thought process is that these people seem to be asked over and over again because there is a limited ammount of people able to do it.
  16. The email listed on their website came back as invalid. Lol. I did ask a couple builders and they all said they build them with the non functioning beavertail. It's a bit of a gamble I guess. This is irritating.
  17. I have two thoughts on the whole RO class thing. And have emailed NROI and USPSA about both durring the recent membership meeting stuff durring the latest nats. First point is that the class itself IMO is absolutely useless at teaching an RO how to take the book of rules and apply it in real life while being safe and ensuring the safety of the shooter, themself and the rest of the squad. At least at my RO class we spent 75% of the class in a classroom going through the rule book which is IMO not really what the in person class should be. We then spent the other 25% outside on the range with each person being the RO for someone else. You basicly got one go as the RO on an extremely simple limited movement stage. And a lot of the time was spent right questions on scoring. That just not what the class portion should be. It should be all outside on the range spent running shooters though actual courses with movement, walls, barriers ect. Something to help the new RO figure out how to be able to move through the stage without impeding the shooter, and being able to do the duties of the RO. The part of the class that is going through the rule book can be done with online or video segments that NROI has setup and you log on and it explains rules, how to go through the rule book and get the information needed. This will do a few things. Get exactly the same information out to anyone who becomes an RO. Get the correct information out. And save a time spent dealing with it at the actually in person class. My second issue is how clubs perceive it as bad that people outside that club come take the class. And use the excuse that it doesn't "help" that club out. I just don't get this thought process. In my local area we have enough shooters and clubs that you can shoot every weekend and on some weekends shoot two matches if you want. At every match it's normally the usual people and some new shooters or people who come and go. Their are plenty of ROs and those who have the ability to RO but don't have the certificate due to work schedules or what ever. The duty gets passed through the squad as the next shooter is up. I believe this is pretty much the norm everywhere. So for me it really doesn't matter what club someone took the class at as they will be an RO at any club they shoot at thus helping out every club in the local area and beyond. My third thing is money, I honeslty feel that USPSA has had a bad habit of bending over to pick up the penny while leaving the dollars on the table per say. I shoot about 6-8 majors a season and see the same peope doing the RO duties at almost all of them. If USPSA got rid of the cost for the individual person along with some adjustment to how the class is structured I think a lot more people would get the certification. For me it's almost impossible to take a RO class as I work M-F night shift. The class is 2 days and trying to either stay up to get to the class on Saturday or get some sleep and wake up at an odd time is not easy. If the class was done online/in person and was reduced to one day in person I think it would help out a lot of people.
  18. Watched this exact argument play out multiple times at A5 due to a fixed time course.
  19. Thank yall. I think I'll stick with standard round wire.
  20. I'm doing another commander 2011 right now and am wondering which is better. The flat wire recoil spring setup or the standard recoil spring setup?
  21. Personally I'd go with Prasky Gunworks. Sean has done a LOT of RIA hicaps. Anything from standard trigger upgrades to island barrels and comps. He did a 40 cal full dust cover one for me that I loved.
  22. Also another thing I just thought of. What mags does everyone use for these since the slide has to lock back and it has to fit the box?
  23. See that's the thing. The gun is being built by D2 Customs using a cheely frame, and grip. And like you said many 2011s are built by companies with out it at all which would be the same thing. I think I'll email them and see.
