  1. Usually people get bumped to open from SS due to weight or the gun being to wide.
  2. @ltdmstr you sound like me. Always having new guns in the works. Lol. As for by division, CO is leaps and bounds above everything else here in MI. For me personally I just had a gun build with a limited and open upper. And am sending D2 Customs my limited gun to add a racker and thumb rest and a complete open upper. This way I have a solid back up for either setup. Ohh and a 40 cal SS build with Venom.
  3. So what yall are saying is this high of a variance is unacceptable.
  4. so true.... so true. Thanks guys. I'll keep loading and shooting.
  5. I'm using the Lyman Pro micrometer adjustable die set for 9mm and am having a very hard time dialing the seating die it to where its consistent. My OAL is 1.128", or well that's what I'm trying to get. When I check OAL I have anywhere from 1.126-1.130. Am I over analyzing it or should I be able to get better results? I've read a few threads about the Redding Micrometer adjustable seating die and people have said to remove the spring inside the die. I havent ever seen the Redding one in person to know how similar they are but the Lyman has a "floating" seating stem with a spring and I'm wondering if my results would improve if I remove the spring.
  6. Good info mate! Mine has a 5.4" KKM Barrel.
  7. Awesome news! I think I need a second one.
  8. Yes. Although I'd be interested in what 1911 and base pads you are using that require this.
  9. Well I learned two things. First, I'm not the only one who doesnt regularly clean a barrel. And second, I'm not crazy for using TG with coated bullets. I have other powders but I just started reloading with my own machine this season and with everything being super hard to get I just continued to use the load a friend had been loading for me. It works really well in both my 1911 9mm and the girlfriends P320 legion. 3.3gn TG, 135gn coated bullet, OAL 1.128. Comes in at a 133PF in the 1911s and 129PF in the Sig. I do a bit of indoor practice because the range is open 24/7 and I work night shift and dont notice a lot more smoke then a good friends 40 major load with sport pistol. I dunno.
  10. Yeah I was talking with the owner of BBI and that's what he had recommended and I found some for sale so I snagged it. Oddly though I've bought 5 or 8lb of a few powders now so I guess incase I run out of one I have back ups. Lol
  11. I drive over an hour to live fire outside, 40 minutes to live fire inside. As for dry fire.... only things it helps me with is draw, mag changes.
  12. Honestly I'd send it to a gunsmith to have it milled for an LPA sight and the front milled for a dovetail sight.
  13. Why do people get mad about CO? Yall said the same thing when PCC was the fastest growing division and so on and so on. If you are so worried about getting beat by a CO shooter then practice more and shoot better. If you are mad because its bringing more people into the sport and that's a bad thing some how, you need to rethink your priorities. If the sport stops growing and retaining members then it goes away. Plain and simple. If you dont like the direction it's going in what are YOU doing to change it? Are you running for any positions or running your mouth? I'll bet its 99% running your mouth. 22LR definitely shouldn't be brought in as a division though. It wont fit into the correct rules at all unlike PCC and CO when they were brought in.
  14. What's wrong with doing a classifier reshoot? Pay the money, reshoot it, record score properly in PS.
  15. Brazos/1911 store trigger kit. As for the trigger... in my experience the SV billet one fits best. Sometimes a 2011 trigger will work. Depends on each frame.
  16. @Ludde definitely cool looking. Here is my latest open gun. Build by Dan at D2 Customes in PA. specs are: brazos slide, Cheely XWF heavy frame, KKM hybrid 5"OAL barrel, SV mega comp steel, LSI Outlaw grip, Geppert trigger, EGW trigger parts. It shoot very nice, very flat.
  17. I have 10lb of this and the only known load data I have was from the guy I got it from. His load is as follows: 4.9gn 180gn coated bullet 1.130OAL .423 crimp. Says it makes a 167PF My normal 40 loads are a 200gn at 1.180 so not sure if his load data would help me or not. Anyways, wondering if anyone has used this powder for 40? Or should I stick with win231 or ramshot Competition? Thanks, Josh
  18. The only time I've ever heard of fire forming brass was long range guys doing it. Personally I roll size all my brass, the use lee undersize die. Seems to be just fine.
  19. Picked up some ramshot competition. Anyone have a little load data for using that?
  20. I'm not saying this is a far off lead time. What I'm saying is this particular gun model isnt custom and was touted as a ten week max lead time. These guns are fit by CNC mill to a spec. Maybe have some extra lead time for coating but 30 weeks... nahh. As for having a hand fit build done this year yes I have. 3 uppers 1 lower. Open 9 major, limited major, and limited minor. All sight tracker barrels, one with a comp and one with a sight block also. Didnt take near 30 weeks. Parts were sent mid February. Build started and finished in a month and half.
  21. Everglades has them in stock pretty much all the time now.
  22. So are you saying that most of the stages are stand and shoot classifier type stages?
  23. Was a slow progression for me. Started with a glock 19 when I very first started USPSA. Found out the rules over the winter at a local club that did indoor practice. Mid year I bought an old Para 16-40 and loved that gun. That ended up being a bad choice because i became addicted to Para double stack 1911s and bought like 5 more. Bunches of mags.... yeah. Shot those for a couple years. Then got a RIA doublestack and ended up working with a local gunsmith who did a ton of work on it and we had a kind of partnership thing for a bit. Stumbled on a decent deal on a STI Edge that the gentleman let me put on layaway, we did a bit of work on that too. Then this year decided to sell off the other guns and do the one build where I got everything I wanted. No string attached with a gunsmith, just my build. For me when I wasnt making a good deal of mo eye I did a lot of layaway. You would be suprised at the ammount of people willing to do it. But my basic terms were usually 1/3rd down 60 to pay off. If I didnt pay it off I lost the money I'd already sent.
  24. Funny you mention that. I hadnt messed with recoil spring in the new gun at all really. It had a 14lb in it when i bought it and i ran that until this weekends match. I decided to try out a 12.5lb ISMI spring which is what I ran in both of my older limited guns and my 40 cal 1911. Instantly knew it was much better. I have a 12lb, 11lb, 10lb, and 13lb to try thursday before heading to A5 but if the local Saturday is any indication I'll probably be sticking with the 12.5lb one. I also ended up doing a slight retune of the sear spring at some point because it relaxed a little. In my experience this is pretty common with EGW sear springs though. I can say however that I must be getting used to it as I won limited c at battle for the north coast, and took 3rd c class at IL Sectional. Both IMO were very tough matches. Now if I can keep it together, get a bit less Mike's, and keep away from the dang no shoot targets I should place pretty well at A5. I'm hoping for 65% of whome ever the top Limited shooter is. And top 3 limited C. I will say though I am really liking this whole sight tracker setup. Much easier to keep it lined up for me. And a 5.5" gun now that I'm used to how it transitions is really nice. Was a bit interesting when transitions to close to the 180 in the beggining but now.... smooth as butter. Much thanks for the tips everyone. I'll keep this updated as I can. Oh round count is in the 2k range now. Not a single hiccup with Dan at D2C gun.
