  1. Anyone mount one using the cheely v3 rts2 mount? I have a cheely xwf frame so the only mounts that fit are the cheely ones.
  2. Hey you just answered a question I've been trying to figure out for a little while now. Thanks!
  3. I just started loading myself last year. This is my process, I buy clean brass fairly cheap. Roll size Spray one shot case lube in large zip lock bag and dump a few handfuls of brass in bag. Shake it around till I feel it's all good, 15-30seconds. Dump into case feeder. Load Case gauge with hundo I don't see any issues. Pass rate is 99+%. I use the minor 9mm in 3 sig p320s, 2 1911s, and 2 2011s.
  4. Honestly nothing really. Just in my mind.
  5. I have been trying to snag some Silhouette for a while. I have one little jug of it right now. I'm thinking HS-6 is what I'll start with. I have plenty of it and it seems to be available more then others these days. Recoil is very tame considering my gun weighs 62.86oz. It's HEAVY lol. But I sure do like it.
  6. Probably. I am unclassified in both so I really shouldn't shoot either at a major match.
  7. Just happen to shoot the open setup tonight and REMEMBER to see if it left any brass marks on the thumb rest. None at all. A good bit of soot as usuall though. Sample size of 152 rounds. Gun ran flawless as well. Me not so much though. I'm trying to decide if I want to take this or my CO pistol to Florida open this year. It's a hard choice.
  8. To preface this I found a thread about coated bullets in 9 major not long ago and now can't find it. I going to use SNS coated 125gn RN bullets for 9 major, already talked to them and the bullets will be fine at the speed needed for it. I have also talked with a couple people I know who run coated bullets for 9 major but all of them use Silhouette which I want to try but can't get any currently and have other stuff on hand. I have these powders to choose from that I have on hand and have enough of to load a fair ammount of ammo. HS-6 AA 7 Autocomp Win 572 Of these choices which would be best for coated bullets for 9 major? I really don't want to start another argument about coated vs JHP ect...
  9. Brazos builds a great gun but he only builds his specific design. I'm not saying this to tale away from his guns just letting the OP know.
  10. When ever I get the parts for a build I just buy a set. Either cheely or EGW. It's like $12.00 for the set. I'm 100% sure the builder has a pile of extra ones but if I'm buying all the parts this makes their life simple for my build.
  11. Check sear to hammer engagement. Simplest way to do this would be disassemble and use a sharpie and mark the hammer and sear. Dry fire a few times and see how the wear pattern looks.
  12. I wish I knew but after talking to CHPWS and Springer precision neither have a plate that will work. So I decided not to get a pro cut slide.
  13. Yes yes you can. Matt at cheely custom Gunworks happens to have some in stock right now. He only makes them maybe once a year these days. Also Tayslor Freelance makes one for the rock island hicap that works on the para as well. If you go that route Male sure you read the description as there are to frame styles he makes the magwell for. You want the one for the rock island they doesn't have the longer main spring housing set up.
  14. This is the triple threat Dan at D2 Customs built me last year. 3 uppers, one open major 9mm, one 40 cal limited and one 9mm limited. The fit and finish is just amazing. Gun ran 100% right out the gate on all 3 setups. He let me pick all the parts I wanted mostly. I asked him what parts he liked and went with that combined with what I like and it came out exaclty how I wanted. All Brazos slides, KKM Barrels, EGW and EE fire controls, LSI grip with limcat heavy magwell, geppart trigger, ect.. When he did mine he wasn't building guns full time yet so it was a bit of a wait, about 6 months I think. He was doing a ton of out of town work, he is a machinist and was doing a lot of in plant machine repairs at the time. He has since decided that building guns was his passion and has gone full time for that so wait times are a bit shorter now. Less then 6 months I belive. The entire build was super simple on my end. We talked though text and over the phone to get what ideas I had for slide cuts, trigger weights, ect.. and he sent pics of the uppers to see of I wanted to add some more milling or if they were good. Answered tons of questions from me, and still does. Hands down I'm 100% happy with it. Then I decided I wanted a 100% built for me custom SS 1911 in 40. And had been drooling over a build Don at Venom has had for sale on his site for a long time. That particular one was built with a square trigger guard and a couple other minor things I didn't like but the slide design was just plain awesome. Old school but with a touch of new school also. So I contacted Don and asked gim if he could do a similar one with the same slide design but the few tweaks I wanted. I shoot SS a lot and wanted this one to be pretty similar to my minor 9mm ones. He answered my email I think at like 10pm on a Sunday or some crazy time. We exchanged info, what I wanted, ect... and I decided to go for it. I haven't gotten it yet but man am I excited. I've played with one of his open guns and it was awesome. Some may ask why I didn't just have Dan do my 1911 and to me it's rude to take a design from one builder and have someone else copy it. So now I get to enjoy guns from two great builders. Hope this helps, Josh
  15. The extractor is only good for 20k rounds? This is the first time I've ever heard of this. That's honestly absolutely terrible.
  16. I don't it very much since it's the trigger they make for their billet grip. Check their website.

    OFFSET Mag Release

I being left handed have found it works much better then the one from springer precision. A small side note to check that it doesn't get pushed in by your holster. My girlfriend is right handed and it would get pushed in by her holster and drop the mag out the gun after the first shot.
  18. Sometimes the sti triggers fit but not always. The billet grip triggers from svi fit.
  19. I have enough primers. I switched to ramshot comp from TG and could use more. Need more bullets but have a decent ammount. Cases I've got a good supply of.
  20. I'm not sure how similar it is to the para magwell but if it's close Matt at Cheely Custom has them in stock.
  21. I've used the evil hands thumb rest on 3 limited guns, including this one. It has a limited upper as well as the open upper. Never had an issue with brass getting caught at all. I'll take a look at the rest next time I'm in my gun room and let you know if it has marks on it though. Always has a little soot on it for sure though.
  22. My small sample size of RTS2 has been a great dot for my girlfriend on her p320. 2.5 years so far and no issues. She shoots about 80% of the matches I do but a lot less practice. Probably around 5k rounds a year I'd think. Hard to say though as I've never really kept track. Shoot I don't really keep track past 1k on any of my guns.
  23. Thanks everyone. I think I'll keep it under the bench for when I start to load 9 major.
  24. I just got a romeo 3 max... it's very nice. Not 100% sure I like it over the RTS2 or alpha 3 though. But to be honest I've not had enough time to really know what I like yet. So far most of my shooting has been done with the alpha 3 on my p320.
  25. Thanks. I actually ended up running it with the 5.4" limited upper last season because trying to be competitive and learn how to shoot a gun with red dot was not going to work well. Currently I'm playing with my p320 pegion in CO for the winter. The few matches in the winter in MI are indoors and so is where I practice. And this particular open gun is LOUD. A buddy of mine has a pretty similar build with the binary engineering comp and his gun is definitely not as loud. But he was surprised at how well the SV comp worked vs the binary. He liked the SV better.
