I'm working up a minor load for my 40 S&W limited custom to shoot steel challenge. A 180 grn Blue Bullet over 3.3 grn of Titegroup, puts the power factor right at 135. Considering reducing the recoil spring from the 11lbs that I use for USPSA major loads to something lighter - like 8 to 10lbs. Anyone else shooting a 180 grn minor load is a limited custom?

I shoot UPSPA Limited Division and switched from a modified G22 to an Elite Limited Custom (in 40 S&W) late last season. For the most part, this is an out-of-the box, ready for completion gun. I installed a Dawson fiber optic front site, Henning magwell, and EGD grips. I also polished some parts like the feed ramp and breach face. Trigger pull is right out 4.25 lbs and very smooth.

Using 180 grn blue bullets over 4.3 grns of Titegroup gives a PF ~170. Previously, I was using Berry's plated 180s with the same recipe.

I had a similar dilemma last year (switching from a Glock 22 to a Tango) towards the end of the USPSA season here in Northern VA). I decided on a new Elite Limited Custom from the Ben Stoeger Pro Shop ($1,099). I big factor for me was the life time warranty from EEA only extends to the original owner. It's a phenomenal gun.

I found that 1.125 works best in my limited custom. With an OAL of 1.135 , I would get an occasional FTF and I could only load mags to 18 rounds (with Hennings base pads). With the 1.125 OAL, I can load to 20 rounds and no FTF issues.

Here's my light strike story. After initial break-in, polished all the recommended parts (trigger bar, trigger bar guide, feed ramp, breach face, etc.) also replaced the sear spring (Patriate Defense reduced power) and installed a 13lb PD hammer spring. Also replaced the recoil spring from the 13lb that came in the gun with the 12lb. Then installed a longer firing pin and firing pin block. Trigger pull was 3.5lbs – nice and crisp. Went to a match and had way too many light strikes. So, rather than continuing to tweak the gun and/or mess with the primer seater on my Hornady L-N-L (it’s not adjustable), I decided to return the gun back to all stock. Since then, the gun has been flawless – no more light strikes. Checked trigger pull. After 6 pulls, not more than 4.5 lbs and not less than 4.25 lbs which is fine for now. Probably go through a few thousand rounds this season (my first full season with the Elite Limited Custom), then check the trigger pull again.

I should add that when I was loading to a 1.135 OAL, I could only get 18 rounds in the magazine (with the Henning base pad). At 1.125 OAL, I get 20 rounds.

I reload so I had to tweek my OAL a bit - from 1.135 that I was shooting in the Glock to 1.125. The 1.135 OAL was causing some FTF issues. I'm shooting 180 grain blue bullets over 4.2 grains of Hodgdons Titegroup which gives me a power factor of ~170. Accuracy on the gun is amazing and very consistent. Looking forward to the upcoming season.

It’s one eye for me – has been since my first BB gun at age 10 to now (almost 60). Also 10 years in the Marine Corps – just one with pistol or rifle (iron sights). I’ve had people comment on my ability to shoot with just one eye. So, at a match (I shoot limited division), everything is done with both eyes open until I raise my gun up to my right eye, while closing my left, and squeezing off a round (or 2 or 4…). It’s one smooth motion. When engaging an array of targets, I always start on the left and move right (to the greatest extent possible) because I have some peripheral vision on the right side.

But, after a few runs with a dermal on each side of the channel, it fit perfectly and securely. I decided to mod it myself rather than send it back because I figured I would another one with the same issue.

DITTO! I bought the same gun in .40 S&W back in September. It is a very accurate gun.

Finally got my "Wheeler Engineering Trigger Pull Gauge" https://www.midwayusa.com/product/192807/wheeler-engineering-trigger-pull-gauge After 6 pulls, not more that 4.5 lbs and not less than 4.25 lbs. For me, that's perfect. No mods on the gun other than a good internal polish. Probably have about 800 rounds through it. Will be interesting to see the trigger weight at the end of next season (approx. 2,000 more rounds).

Sent about 200 rounds down range at the match and the grips are still tight.

I also went from a Glock to a Tanfo. I shoot USPSA Limited so I picked up a new Elite Limited Custom (in .40 of course). Although not on your Tango shopping list, just wanted to point out these are awesome guns. I purchased new instead of used because of the lifetime warranty - which is not transferable (at least that is was EAA told me). Semper Fi.

UPDATE: After installing the Danco #60 O-rings, I found that when you tighten the screw on the grip, the rubber o-ring flattens and a portion sticks out (protrudes) from the screw-hole recess in the grip. But, after looking all through the shelves at Home Depot, I found a #6 stainless steel lock washer that fits perfectly in the screw-hole recess. With a little blue loctite, and the lock washer, should be good to go. I have a match this weekend, so, will see if it holds up. I ran into the same issue on my Elite Custom Limited with EGD extreme grips. The left side would come loose after less than 100 rounds. New screws did not help. So, I picked up a pack of the Danco #60 O-rings at Home Depot. Going to try these with some blue Loctite before a big match this weekend.

You are absolutely right. Coming from a tuned Glock (model 22 .40 S&W) with a 3.5lb trigger - still not as smooth as the stock tigger on my polished Tanfo.

That is the exact model I purchased last month. Thought I was getting this one: https://eaacorp.com/guns/handguns/witness-elite-limited-tanfoglio-81 But mine has "Limited Custom" on the slide. My understanding is that it is the same as the Elite "Limited". Great gun BTW.

I had FTF issues when loading to 1.135 in (.40 S&W) but I see were LeviSS is loading to 1.125 which is where I'm at - and no issues at all. I've had this issue with other model guns (Glock) and it was always the mag spring (with Taran Tactical +5 pads). A new spring would last about 1,000 rounds before the FTF would start. Replacing the spring fixed it every time. Try pulling all the springs and line them up - see if all are the same length. Grab a new spring and compare.

Just recently joined the Tanfo club with an Elite Limited .40 - suburb shooting machine!

Shot a steel challenge match last Saturday. Probably one of the best matches (of any type) that I shot this season. My Tanfo was flawless - no FTFs or light strikes. I finished 10th overall (30 shooters total). Still need to measure the actual trigger pull.
