  1. Have the same suggestion as Shred. Blacken the front sight with a marker. See if that helps. And practice this stuff in dry fire daily if you're not already doing so. Just throw some 3x5 flash cards on a wall and practice transitions, getting an acceptable sight picture. You can also use 8" paper plates to simulate steel plates if you have more room. 2. Question for you guys using this. Do you find it hard to get focus on your front site because its backlit by your TV? Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  3. With the Blues, I found I could load the truncated nose longer than I could the round nose. This was in my CZ barrels. Didn't see any appreciable difference in accuracy between the 2 profiles. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  4. Yup. FMJs. Here is the description from the site. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  5. Received my first order from RMR. 3000 124gr TCFP Matchwinner FMJ. I paid $222 shipped. That brings them to 7.4 cents each. Smoking price for FMJ. Impressed with this company so far. They shipped my order right away. Received them all they way in California in less than a week. Packaging was best I've seen. I've had issues in the past with other companies. I haven't loaded any yet but did shoot some a friend of mine ordered. They were quite accurate out of both our SP-01's. He ran them with Titegroup. I plan on running them with Win 231. Bullets look great. Weight was very consistent. Average was 123.6gr. Min was 123.5 and max at 123.7. Looking forward to working up a load and shooting these. Have to work through my last several thousand Brazos first. Can anyone running these with 231 share your load data?
  6. I had some good runs and some bad, bringing my average down. The interesting thing is my first few runs pushing my time were my best. Then I started throwing more charlies and a couple runs I had some deltas. So I know I have it in me to shoot in the 9 HF range. For example... my first 3 runs pushing time were HF of 9.14, 9.45 and 9.08. All 3 of these runs I had 9 alphas. Then the suck started and I was shooting half alphas and the rest some combo of charlies and deltas. Did some analyzing of close up video of these runs in slow-mo. My grip is good: Gun isn't flopping around. Joints are solid. Hands are moving together in recoil. Trigger guard remains in contact with my hands. However, my trigger work got sloppy. Really slapping it. My finger comes completely off the trigger between shots. I can see that the muzzle move as I slap it. Not a lot but enough. I'm going to work on doubles drill next trip to the range and drill my trigger technique. Any other suggestions that will help work on this?
  7. Did you order.355 or .356? Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  8. Wanted to share a quick update of my progress. Shot another match last Sunday. My best one yet. Stage times were faster and so were my hits. Still had some hiccups but definitely an improvement overall. Cool thing is had my first ever Production stage win and came in 3rd in Production. The stage win was on one of the bigger stages that had a lot of steel. Steel has always been my nemesis so it was nice to finally conquer it. I also had my best classifier performance which bumped me to C-class. Feels good to be out of D finally. Now to get to B class. A couple morning meetings were canceled today so I decided to hit the range unexpectedly. I setup El Prez classifier and focused on it. Very interesting results. So the first half, I didn't push myself. Just shot at my normal match mode. My average time was 7.1 and HF of 6.7. The second half I pushed myself just to the edge of control. Pushed my draw but more so, my transitions. My average time was 5.6 and HF was 8.47. The interesting thing is that my hits got better. Not sure how to process that. But I'll take it. I am definitely seeing the results of focusing my training on speeding up transitions. It really resonates when you see how fast transitions impact HF. I'm not shooting any faster. I'm just reducing the time between targets. And this is just from a few weeks of training. Very motivating.
  9. Leading with this latest batch. I have about 3000 left of the 135gr Brazos. Will run these for the next 6 weeks. Ordering RMR 124 gr FMJ on Monday and will be switching to them once I'm through the Brazos. Too bad. They a good group of folks. Wish I could continue to support them but don't want to deal with the leading. After cleaning Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  10. EDIT... I meant to put this in the CZ sub forum. Stupid app. Please move. I'm thinking of shooting Carry Optics next year. I currently shoot Production with an a SP-01. Was considering buying an optic for my backup SP-01 to dick around with at the range and get a feel of it. Initially I would use a dovetail mount until I decide if I want to pursue CO division and commit to getting the slide milled. I've heard rumblings that some optics are more reliable/robust than others for slide mount config. What brand/model/MOA do you all recommend? Thanks! AC Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk

  15. This all day. I'm new to the sport but it didn't take me long to figure out hit factor scoring and the effect of time vs points has on it. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  16. Not the expert here but I would say the grips are too small. You want as much contact between the grip and your hand as possible. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  17. Hey guys. So is there an objective measure to know if the grip is too large or small for you hand other than feel? Something like the position of your index finger relative to the trigger or trigger guard. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  18. What type of checkering file would you use to do it? Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  19. Was able to work on transitions at the range. I worked on Blake Drill at about 7 yards. First I worked on just the transitions without the draw. I pushed at the same speed as in dry fire. I was averaging about 1.2 seconds. Accuracy was not great but I was able to call my misses. The interesting part is I was making my hits on the last target. Most of my misses were on the middle one. I was starting the transition to 3rd target too soon. I observed the same as above when I added the draw. Alphas on target 1 and 3 (most strings) but alpha-charlie for target 2. Need to work on this. I also set up an array of 2 paper and 4 steel targets at varying distances and lateral spaces. Worked on that for a bit. I found that I was definitely moving between targets much faster. One thing I did notice is that my grip on the draw was slop when doing this drill but not prior when I was doing the Blake drill. Odd. Slop only when drawing on open paper at 5 yards. First shot good but quick follow up, muzzle was flying. But then when I transitioned to steel or other paper, grip was good. I think I was just really pushing myself and not maintaining good grip. I plan on running these drills over the next few weeks both in dry and live fire as I already see tremendous value in them. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  20. I find it amusing the topics that we choose to debate. Something as simple as a query about the merits of videoing yourself and methods of doing so. Maybe the anti sentiment is regional. Around my parts, just about everyone records their runs. Either hatcam or 3rd party. Most of the guys I squad with are usuals so it's not an imposition if they ask me to record them. Me, my wife attends all my matches so she records my runs. She also volunteers to record others. Keep in mind, these are level 1 club matches. I think things change a bit when you're referring to larger matches. As for the suggestion of setting up a camera up range, it was a mere suggestion. Not something you'd do at every match nor every stage. Its something you would do more for the novelty of having video from a cool perspective of you and your friends shooting the same stage. Again. Dude asked for opinions on the merits of video and I gave him options. Its helped me to improve. And some of the biggest names in this sport advocate for the advantages of video recording oneself. I think we can all agree that there is a time and place to do so. Also goes without saying that it should never interfere with the flow of a match. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  21. Glad to hear you got it squared away. Yeah. So far I'm liking the flat trigger. Although, I've only done to dry fire sessions so jury is still out. I seem to get a cleaning pull with it even when hammering the DA on a fast draw. Also, it just feels better no matter where my finger is on the trigger. Doesn't matter if its higher or lower on the trigger face. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  22. Which CGW disco I you running? Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  23. Valid points all around. Especially about my classification. I out shoot almost all C class shooters at the matches and am often middle or low in the B class. My classifier scores are dismal. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  24. If you're running a gopro, hat cam mount is the probably the most practical. Is out of the way. Easy to start/stop recording and give a great 1st person perspective. If you want 3rd person, you can get one of those gorilla mounts and mount it some place up range that gives a good vantage but no risk of getting shot. Do this when you 1st get to the stage. Turn it on. Leave it till your squad is done. Take it down. Rinse and repeat on the next stage. Or you can just hand it to someone on your squad and have them film your run.
