  1. Got it. Thanks for clarifying. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  2. Can you explain what you mean here? I'm following this thread too. Trying to learn as much as I can before my first match. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  3. Cool. Funny thing is that I forgot to polish the sides of the inside of the lower where the trigger bar sits and rubs. The thought of trying to insert the damn trigger pin again probably meant I wouldn't break it down to finish this for a while. I may do it sooner trying this technique.
  4. This was kind of my thinking. I don't want to have to buy twice but I also don't want to shell out a bunch of cash, for higher end equipment, and then end up not really pursuing competition shooting in the long run. I also know that my skill is going to be what limits me for a while, not the gear. BTW, I'm glad you mentioned the mag pouches because that's my next purchase and I wasn't sure if I should spend a bit more on those or buy Uncle Mikes. Good to know. I've never worn a holster but was able to intuit that the paddle would make the gun sit higher than the other hangers. Glad to hear it's comfortable.
  5. So I've been shopping for a OWB holster for my CZ 75 SP-01. Its the standard variant. I've narrowed it down to the Safariland 578 Pro Fit. I will use this holster for shooting Production. I'm planning for my first match in July. My question is should I buy a different attachment system than the paddle it comes with? If so, what do you recommend? Initially I plan on using a stiff leather belt that about 2" wide. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  6. I've been going once a week. I've only been shooting for a few months and plan to do my first USPSA match in July. Nursing an injury right now so need to wait till then. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  7. This can't be said enough. I already thanked them earlier but want to again. I often say that the internet is one of man's greatest inventions but it's all just porn and cat videos without guys like these two that are willing to share what they know. Thanks again guys. 8. I didn't have a problem getting it out. The bitch was getting it back in. I struggled trying to align the trigger with the pin back in the gun. I didn't use a vice or clamps to stabilize the lower so maybe that would helo. I did make a slave pin from a finish nail like suggested. About lost the spring 3 times while trying to get the slave pin through the trigger and spring. Haha Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  9. BTW... getting the damn trigger trigger pin back in was much harder that disassemble and reassemble of the seer. The latter was a breeze. The former had me cursing for 30 minutes. Lol Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  10. So it seems that the goal of polishing is to get a smooth finish with the least amount of material removed. Is that about correct? I ended up using 1000 grit sand paper followed with a dremel and jewellers rouge to polish the various parts in this tutorial. I polished the hammer strut, the sides of the hammer, the trigger bar, the seer cage and the seer. I forgot to polish the insides of the lower where the trigger bar sits. I don't know if I was aggressive enough with the polishing. I was quite nervous of going too far and screwing things up. I've never done anything like this. I got a pretty good finish on all pieces. My parts didn't seem to be as rough to begin with as the ones pictured. Not the deep tooling marks as shown. I tried to get almost a mirror finish on them. Maybe not quite but they were shiny and smooth to the touch. The trigger does seem a lot more smooth. Not gritty. I installed an CGW ultra lite kit while I was in there so I don't know what was due to polishing and what to the kit. Doesn't really matter I guess. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  11. There are random number generator apps. Most allow you to input a number range. What I don't know is if they will audibly speak the number and if you can set them to generate multiple numbers in succession. May want to browse the app store to see what's available. 12. How experienced a shooter are you? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  13. Cool. I want to get into UPSA Production shooting. I know they require first shot to be a DA pull. I will practice that with simulating a SA with the follow up. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  14. When I'm dry firing my SP-01, simulating target transition and such where I want to fire multiple shots, is it better practice with all double action pulls or should I simulate a single action by not resetting the trigger? Simply releasing slightly then pulling again? Maybe there is a better way I don't know about. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. Sounds like your little one is Ok so that's a blessing. Hope you heal up soon. Good luck tomorrow and have fun. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  16. Awesome man. I'm really excited about shooting my first match in the next few months. Really nervous though so this post really helps. How experienced are you with pistol shooting overall? I shot my 1st pistol a year ago and got my 1st handgun in March so this is all very new to me. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks. I'm not easily discouraged. I'm having a blast learning to shoot. I'm now shopping for a holster so I can start practicing to draw. I'm nursing an injury right now but once I'm recovered in about 5 weeks, I plan on entering some steel comp or my 1st USPSA match. Looks like a ton of fun and a good way to meet others that like to shoot. I figure as long as I'm safe, I don't care how bad I suck. [emoji12] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  18. Haha. You guys are worried about shooting with both eyes open and here I am struggling to keep from closing both between shots. I shot my first gun about a year ago and bought my first pistol 2 months ago. I'm really interested in participating in USPSA. Notice I didn't say competing? LOL. Looks like fun and that's my motivation. I will worry about it being more than fun if my skills progress.
  19. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, especially Prof. Atlas. I've been on the fence on doing some mods on my SP-01 on account of all this being really new to me but thanks to this thread I just placed an order for the CGW ultra lite kit and the 13# recoil spring. Gonna do some of the polishing describe in this thread too. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
