  1. This is good to hear. Just found a good deal on a case of 12k so pull the trigger based on feedback on this thread. Thanks OP.
  2. Man. I wish I had been recording. Would've shared for sure. Definitely a good laugh would be had. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  3. Purely anecdotal but I've used Titegroup with thousands of coated bullets without any leading issues whatsoever. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for updating us. Funny. I'm in the opposite shape you are. I just had a match yesterday. Where my movement, reloads and other non-shooting stuff has improved tremendously, my shooting fundamentals seem to have declined. I dropped quite a bit of points yesterday. There were a few stages with lots of tuxedos and no shoots and I struggled. Not sure if I just had a bad day or I was just musceling the trigger but man it sucked. I have the Mantis X which I got for free. Played around a little with it when I first got it. I'm going to try use it it in dry and live fire over the next couple of weeks to see if it helps at all. I'm going to focus on my trigger fundamentals in dry fire for the next couple of weeks because I don't want to have another match like this last one.
  5. Shoot whatcha got! Don't worry about the pistol and go shoot a match. Get some under your belt and then figure out what you need, gear wise, from experience. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  6. So I've read different opinions on this... When dry firing with a DA/SA pistol, should you trigger pull? I find that when I'm doing transition drills, it really helps me to pull the trigger. I don't know I'd it's that it allows that momentary pause or the trigger action that helps me confirm my sights or what. I find when I don't pull the trigger, I'm less honest about my sight picture. What I've been doing lately is I pin the hammer back with one of my wife's hair ties. This more closely simulates single action pull. Not sure if this is a good thing or not. It seems to work for me. What do you guys do? Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  7. Just got back from test fire this load. Chrono'd at 1040 FPS average. This was shot out of my SP-01 manual safety. Slow fire, no rest. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  8. I run a manual safety SP-01. I have the Cajun Gun Works EZ/D rear sight. It was originally paired with the .175" Dawson FO front sight. This setup was shooting quite high at 25 yards with 135g coated bullet at 140 PF (1040 FPS). I switched to a .215 FO front sight but it still seems to shoot to high. At 25 yards, I'm consistently shooting about 2" above POA. I'm using a combat sight picture by the way; FO dot is where I expect the bullet to hit. By my calculation, I need to be running a .230 front sight. Does this jive with what you guys are running? Really would like to get this thing zerod-in.
  9. Listen to this guy. I live in Southern California and I shoot USPSA Production. I have a plain SP-01 Manual Safety model. I put about $250 worth of Cajun Gun Works parts in it and it runs just as good as any of the Shadow variants that my buddies shoot. I don't know where you are in California but if you're So Cal, shoot me a PM and we can see about meeting up and you can shoot my SP-01. I guarantee you'll love it. By the way, we shoot standard cap and high cap mags at matches in here California. The laws are no deterrent. They're ridiculous and unenforceable. Hell, we got many LEOs that shoot competitions. They don't care. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks man. Yeah. I read up on it. Guess I have to register my pistols with the police department within 5 days of arriving on the islands. I'm from California so I'm not stranger to BS restrictions on 2A rights. I don't think I can make the match in Maui but I may travel a little earlier to do the match in Oahu. If not, I will eventually shoot one there. Wife and I travel there about 3-4 times a year. Have lots of friends there. I've decided to try to shoot matches when I travel somewhere. Within reason of course. Maybe next year I'm gonna try to shoot an IPSC match in the Philippines. Need to see what it takes to get my guns there or borrow a setup. Who knows. It's something I'm gonna try to do. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  11. Never underestimate the wrath of a small Asian woman. They're the honeybadger of humans. LOL Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  12. Just fell on my ass and almost broke my wrist. Can't wait till my wife notices the giant scratch in the floor. [emoji55] Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  13. Cool. Keep us posted as you use it more and determine if its impacting your shooting. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  14. Gotta see if I can swing that. Will be with family so I don't want to push it. Don't want to upset the wife but maybe I can fly out to Maui just the for the day. Will have to see what our plans are. I will probably be back in Oahu in December for a couple of weeks. Not sure the dates yet and don't know if they do matches in December. We have lots of friends on Oahu and visit a few times a year so eventually the stars will align and I will shoot a match there. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  15. Congrats man on taking the plunge. So many never do. I shot my first match this past January. Did you have fun? That's the most important part next to be safe. I agree with the guy that suggested you have someone else video as you run the stage. Way more helpful than first person to seeing where you need to improve. Don't let this be your last match! Share more. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  16. This... just go up to the guy and ask. Almost 100% positive they'll be receptive. Just explain your situation like you did here. I wouldn't think twice if you approached me. And I've done it a couple of times with guys shooting guns I've wanted but were hard to find. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  17. Mind sharing your experience publicly? Think it would be beneficial to anyone following this post or if they search for information on the product later. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  18. Hey all, I will be traveling to Oahu in October and would love to shoot a match while there. Dates are October 22 to 30th. I believe they host matches at Koko Head Shooting Complex but not sure. Anyone from Oahu that can give tell me if there are any matches scheduled during my visit? Thanks. 19. I played with it at a Gun Show. It was cool but I didn't see it really being an appreciable improvement on dry fire without the recoil. My question to the guy at the booth was "what does this train me to do that dry fire alone does not?" He didn't have a satisfactory answer. It won't teach recoil management. Not really. Not better than live fire will. So what does it help train? I'm knew to practical shooting but I've read and studied a lot of training methods and materials. Enough to know that we train repetitive movements in dry fire. Draws, reloads, indexing, transitions. None of this requires recoil. We then use live fire to train recoil management and to keep what we train in dry fire honest with confirmation of shots on target. If you're gonna spend 300 on this, I would instead spend it on an airsoft replica pistol that has a blowback feature. It will do the same but adds the element of live fire analog. I have a CZ replica airsoft setup in a shopping cart for a few months but haven't pulled the trigger on the buy simply because I don't know that it will provide any value beyond daily dry fire and weekly live fire. Again, I'm a total newb so I may be, and most likely am, very wrong. So take my advice for what worth. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  20. Hey thanks fellas. I ended up negotiating more cash out of the deal instead of the powder. I run Tightgroup now which runs a little dirty but I like it otherwise. If I switch, will be to a cleaner shooting powder so it sounds like HP-38 is not it. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  21. Hey all. Any of you have experience loading 9mm minor with HP-38 powder? I'm considering a trade which includes 8lbs of HP-38. I run 135gr coated bullets. I've been using Tightgroup exclusively, running at 140 PF. Want to hear from some of you before I commit to 8 pounds of this stuff. THANKS. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  22. I run a 135gr hitech coated with 3.7gr of Tightgroup. OAL of 1.12. Chrono at 1040 FPS with this load. Runs well in my CZ SP-01. Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  23. Yes. I've watched and listened to a lot of Stoeger and Kim over the past couple of months. It's really helped me unpack a lot of the advice that floats around. I've learned that these guys don't always see their sights. At least not how many will lead you to believe is required. They see a blur of their sight. I'm new but at a stage in my shooting where I'm learning what I need to see for a specific distance and target to make the shot. I have learned that withing 7 yards, it's all about indexing your gun and recoil management. I still struggle with wanting to get too much confirmation at times but I'm getting there. Doubles drill has really helped me to understand what I am capable of at varying distances. Another drill I've did recently was the Confirmation drill. Basically, it's a drill to see what type of sight confirmation is needed to get the shot you want at increasing distances. Can you simply index? Just see your front sight come up while being target focused? Solid sight picture with sight focus? I've only done it once. I found it hard just to let go and break the shot with just an index. 24. I could ask you the same question. Shouldn't you be somewhere NOT tipping workers or ranting about the importance of a trust? Hahaha Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
  25. Ah man. I came here to avoid you. Now I gotta find another forum. [emoji1787] Sent from my SM-G930U using Tapatalk
