+1 on the airsoft innovations adapter it works well, and the coleman propane bottles are very cheap and you can even get an adapter to refill them from your 20 lb grill tank for about 20.00 from Cabelas.

I too just bought a WE Hi-capa 5.1 and it is really a very good Sv/Sti copy the only problem is the gas just doesn't work well in the sub freezing temps in my barn, I was hoping for a nice winter practice tool but it just doesn't work well enough to not be a hassle. After doing some research the "top gas" is nothing more than purfumed propane and I'm not sure it would be healthy or safe to shoot in my house, so how are some of you getting away with it? is my info bogus or have you indoor practice guys found a safer gas to use? By the way when it is above 50 degrees outside this thing will dent the heck out of old paint can lids they work great for plate practice to about 7yds. fun to shoot the barn cats with too.

I have a Pro Sx on a SV frame, the best of both worlds, Bob will build it, he just prefers to deal with STI. I've dealt with ALOT of smiths with anywhere from dismal to barely acceptable results, Brazos custom was a new experience for me I HIGHLY recommend them.

I borrowed my buddies sinclair when my autoprime handle broke right before the Nat's it was real nice BUT... it was way slow to use. Since then I used the machine shop at work to make my own stainless steel handle for the autoprime. I use CCI or Winchester primers only handseating Federals or Remingtons is not recommended , someone already mentioned that though. I just wanted to warn you the sinclair is a fine piece of precision, not made for quick seating of thousands of handgun rounds. Let me know how the RCBS works out if my autoprime ever needs replacement I will go a different route.

I don't have much faith in "package triggers" so double check the hammer hooks especially the depth , if they didn't include a guage you can get a feeler guage set fairly cheap. I run mine between 18-20 THOUSANDTHS of an inch, sorry for the standard not metric sizes, also putting a little more pressure on the disconnector leaf spring that will help (although many a Gunsmith will argue that one) but it will increase your nice trigger pull weight. I looked the metric up it's .508 mm.

And, more often than not, no shots are even fired (at least around here). The few times I've been involved in operations where shots were fired, they did not sound loud and I don't remember any ringing. Yep that's a real phenomenon that occurs ,audio exclusion I think it's called, lots of police and people who have had up close personal defense incidents claim that the gun was not loud and there was no "ringing" in their ears. I find it amazing what the body/mind combination can do when under stress, if we could just harness it on demand. Unfortunately I have never experienced this, thus the constant ringing in my ears, for life. Back on the subject, I would love to see some stills of the video in question as well, I hope he can post some.

I totally agree with the ideas you put forth for retention of new people, it will work for ones that have been around awhile too. I don't think the business card idea will work, but I don't have a better one either. From the lack of responses to my question neither does anyone else. I shoot uspsa because I want to be good , not just think I'm good, with my handgun. That is not why people play paintball, they play for sheer fun and the rush involoved in the game. I don't think that rush comes in uspsa matches until you've reached a certain level skillwise.

I disagree, after the first rounds are fired the ringing ears are WAY worse than plugs, when we did "military" operations plugs made the difference in just being able to still hear commands after the rounds started flying, police ops may be different as they are probably in closer quarters and much shorter in duration. Any how I haven't seen the clip nor am I aware of what unit actually did the raid, I seriously doubt any regular unit would be able to use personally owned weapons in any capacity,not to say it couldn't happen, I heard stories back in the 80's about spec ops using "starwars" type weapons. I say it would be rare, I still know several guys in different elite teams and none of them use any wild weapons, other than the issued ones anyways.

I've tried for years to get other shooters I know or even gun owners just to try a uspsa match, I don't tell them the higher fees for the larger matches I just tell them about the local matches, other than my direct family members none have yet to even come to see one. I think the reasons are diverse, some are the macho type who would not like to be "shown up" at a shooting competition, for others ,like me, it's over an hour in any direction to the nearest uspsa club and face it even a local match shoots an entire day(week-end at that). Most of these people have no place to practice with their "real" guns, I know of several groups running week-end paint-ball games within my county, and it seems every county here has a shotgun range, so to be realistic it's a hard sell with the long drive . Someone mentioned earlier about the typical uspsa range that looks more like katrina aftermath than a sports arena (my range on my property is neat as a pin and I'm the only one who takes care of it and it costs me money, I don't make a dime shooting), point that I'm trying to make club members/owners (if they want to grow the sport) need to put more effort into their ranges. Of course that's only going to help if you can get people to show up in the first place, that's what we really want, we can run them off later with the old mantra "this is a volunteer sport and we're all burnt out so you need to help out now, of course we'll still handle all the finances while we turn the "work" over to you".... okay I digress, but retention of members is still like a penny saved. I need more specific ideas on how to get these gun owners to just try it out, what has been SUCCESSFUL in the ideas previously posted?

I use exclusively Lee Precision stuff have for almost 20 years, I'm not that old just been shootin since I was young. The FCD is a fantastic die and almost a necessity if you run one of the tight tolerance guns in the uspsa game. The ONLY problem that might occur (some have hinted to it in earlier posts) is if you have NO crimp coming from the seating die it can infrequently cause the OAL to increase as it resizes the case, since I'm not familiar with Dillons seating die I will just advise those that can, to have some crimp going into the FCD. I run it in all my calibers (9mm,38 super,.40 S&W,.45 acp,.44 mag) with carbide dies and NO lube with NO problems, to the tune of 20-50k a year. I have to add to the cast bullet users that I run jacketed only, so I don't have any problems with squished bullets. I did do some accuracy tests with no practical differences either way.

I don't think you'll need much of a trigger job if you're used to a revolver, it's the weirdest trigger I've ever pulled, can't say I didn't like it but it was different than what I expected, I'd try before you buy if I were you.

I have a stainless SV limited gun I bought in 98 I have well over 50k rounds through it, I was told the same thing that Guy brought up but I got it anyway. The gun has in no way "loosenedup" I was also told it would discolor ect. ect. I am very happy with it. My open gun is hardchromed and the look is so similar that if I were you and I was even slightly worried about the performance/longevity of stainless, get a hardchromed gun. Just my 2 pennies worth, Good Luck.

Western arms makes a SV copy that is trademarked (Sv let them copy) they are awesome looking ,I've been bidding for the ones I like on e-bay for about a year now, they don't go cheap which tells me something. I'm not sure they would be a great practice tool especially for mag changes but if I can get one on the cheap I'm gonna try it. You all have to wait until I get mine to start bidding

Wow! you got to shoot with your "gamer" gear, IDPA must be pretty lenient compared to SASS. I dropped by one of their matches, they asked if I wanted to shoot for fun, I said sure I got my IPSC rig in the trunk. That was the end of the discussion
