  1. Wise man once said....2 is 1 and 1 is none!
  2. So got out to the range with my new chrono...don’t have it front of me so I cast remember what it was...competition electronics of something to that effect. Anyways it was 10-30fps higher every shot than the chrony one...but more to the 30fps side of things...I also have had a lot of errors and crazy readings on the old one more and more each time I use it. So I’m gonna settle on an average of 30fps off due to chrony being junk....and say that the other 15-20fps could be temp fluctuations. The best thing is the new chrono blue tooth’s to my phone and saves the data...so I’ll be able to check again when it get hot and compare data. Glad I got a new chrono
  3. Update...on the same chrono I noticed a 15-20fps increase on and 80 degree day compared to the recent 50ish degree days.I know there are still some unknown variables yet. I did buy a new chrono and hope to get out this weekend and run the shots through both of them at the same time.
  4. My advise for anyone’s first match is to only worry about safety. Don’t break the 180 by being slow and deliberate. While moving concentrate on finger out of the trigger guard and where is my barrel pointed at all times. These are the things that I see ruin first time shooters day. All the other stuff comes with time but safety first.
  5. Yup it turns on when racked too! Excellent info and thanks for sharing! Any idea of how long the life expectancy is for the sight once it shows these flickering/turning on when racked signs? Just for everyone’s knowledge. I got about 8k rounds through my gun before I had any issues with the sight. I called CMore they told me to send them the sight and they will fix it. Ill need to get my spare installed and sighted in.
  6. It is a version 4...yeah I’m gonna have to call cmore this week and see what they have to say
  7. Can you elaborate further...seems it would block the battery from making contact from what I’m seeing inside of the housing ???
  8. Thanks...Just gave that a try..no change...battery seems to fit in there really snug...dot still flickers from bright to dim (doesn’t completely disappear) when hammer drops
  9. Got about 8,000 rounds through my open gun now. RTS2 has worked great with no issues since I’ve had it. Just cleaned the gun and a few dry fire drops of the hammer for functions checks and I notice the dot is flickering when the hammer drops. Havnt seen this happen before. Changed the battery and it still does it. Is this a sign this sight is about to crap out? Anybody have any input on this? I do have a spare dot if it craps out but would need to get it out and sighted in before FL state in 2 weeks.
  10. For me it’s about two things. I have run and loaded media tumbled brass for years (never cared how clean they were on the inside) and I would find some that the powder was up higher in the case...I’d dump them out to find crap inside the case...they would shoot but obviously cause a pressure spike issues in an open gun. The second is I sell some brass from time to time when I acquire too much and it seems brass buyers have a hard on for super clean brass and pay a little more when it looks like new. Lastly doing something new like wet tumbling adds to the fun of reloading for me after a decade or more of playing with media tumbling. Anyways yeah I know it doesn’t affect accuracy and I guess it’s just fun to see a pile of brass that looks like gold all layed out. Havnt noticed any issues with loading using the super clean brass but I use case lube so that probably hides any extra hang up on the dies issues you mentioned.
  11. So I just ran a batch with no pins with the frank ford brand cleaner ( the little pouches you drop in) Cleans the outside well and some cases inside but definitely not worth running without pins cuz the majority of the cases are still dark and crappy inside. Have about a dozen of these left then I will be giving the brass juice a go. Can’t wait to try it but I gotta use these frankford punches up so they don’t go to waste.
  12. Yeah I just leave my brass out to dry for a while too since Im in GA and have enough stock piled. So sounds like the brass juice is legit...must be some toxic stuff in order to clean as good with no pins. Why do I feel like 20 years from now I’m gonna see a tv commercial talking about have you been diagnosed with mesothelioma and ever used brass juice I will be giving it a try as soon as I run out of my frank ford stuff. I did buy their case lube too but waiting till my one shot runs out as well.
  13. New to wet tumbling...using the frankford arsenal tumble deal I got off midway. Been using their brand of solution with the 5lbs of pins and two empty cases full of lemimshine in hot sink water. I let them sit on a towel in the garage with a fan running for a night to dry. Absolutely love the results...cleaner brass in less time. So now I have bought some brass juice cleaner to give that a try. They advertise no pin cleaning. Before I waste a run with no pins I’m curious to what you guys think of wet tumbling with or without pins? Thanks
  14. Got my eye on a new chrono...I wanna be able to shoot through both at the same time to rule out the possibility of my current chrono being junk. The mystery continues till then.
  15. Have you found this to be more frequent in AA#7? Or more of a general statement for any powder you work with?
  16. It’s is not the same lot of powder as I’m on to a different 8lb jug of it. I certainly can’t rule out a chrono issue as I don’t have access to another anytime soon to check that but I will be able to see what the chrono at FL state says it is. As far as variables go using that chrono some other ammo/powders I have been checking have had no deviations that I can note but can’t say 100% if it’s a chrono issue until I get a chance to compare it against another. Also of note the chrono did have an issue in the past and it was recently rebuilt by the company. The different lot number though is certainly a thing. I have calibrated my powder measure and that seems to be fine. All part of the learning game I suppose. All the input is appreciated guys.
  17. Update. Did some more chrono work today. My chrono was averaging about 1-2pf higher in the shade since it was cloudy today making the ammo about 7-8pf lower. I think it’s safe to conclude #7 is temp sensitive enough to affect PF. I don’t have access to another chrono anytime soon to rule out any possible chrono issues so I will adjust the load a bit and get to compare it to the FL state chrono soon enough. I have never shot another powder yet in 9 major but will be looking at sampling some others in hopes to find a more stable load.
  18. Awesome guys...thanks for all the good info. I’ve checked the OAL and it’s still a solid 1.165. Averaged out the powder drop and 9.6 was the solid average. I’m bumping up to 9.8 and gonna go get some more action on the chrono. If you could’ve only seen me at the range crunching numbers that were shockingly low...it was quite amusing. Glad to hear I’m not completely crazy
  19. If it matters I forgot to mention...I’m shooting a ck arms thunder open gun. Barrel has 3 holes. Bullet OAL is 1.165. Using a chrony master chronograph that I just recently had rebuilt by the manufacturer.
  20. So I’m still new-ish to open. Been loading 9 major with AA#7 and Montana gold 124’s. In the heat of summer I started with 9.3 gr and it was just borderline for major PF so I bumped it up to 9.6 and it was coming in at 174 PF...bonus it made the comp work better so the dot tracked better. I shot the GA state match with that load and chrono’d there at 174 so I was like yup this load is dialed in and perfect. Mind you all that this was in the dead of summer GA heat and humidity. Fast fwd to today. I had to chrono some other stuff so I decided to spot check my current major load expecting to see similar results....nope 164...a whole 10pf lower than I was expecting. It was like 55 degrees with no humidity. Talked to an open guru and suggested to look into the AA#7 powder sensitivity. Website does say it can change 3-5% with extreme temp differences which mathematically accounts for the 50-60 FPS difference drop resulting in 10pf lower. I’ve never seen or dealt with this before so I figured I’d post and see what some of you had to say about this. Read a lot of posts on here over the years and never come across anyone talking about pf changing so drastically with a certain powder or temp. I’m certainly glad I spotted checked the chrono before showing up to the FL state match in a few weeks!
  21. Man I shouldn’t have read this thread...after years of loading on a 550 I switched to a 650. Sounds like I should’ve just went all out when I switched and gone straight to the 1050. Sooner or later it’ll happen I suppose.
  22. Almost had a first time shooter lined up for tomorrow’s match...then it got cancelled due to all the rain we are having. Hopefully he is down to go the next time it comes around. Everyone I know talks about shooting...they say yeah I’d like to try that blah blah blah but never do when the time comes. I think it boils down to there are those that talk and those that do in life. the talkers far out number the do’ers . Just my 2 cents
  23. Same here for me with 124’s...for some reason #7 seems to never be in stock though.
  24. Wouldn’t the pins still be needed to make the inside of the case super clean and shiny like the outside?
  25. Your guess is correct I just turned 39. 9 round is a 30 min kick boxing themed circuit training workout. It caters to those of all ages and fitness levels. The best part about it for us is there is no class times...you show up when you want as a round starts every 3 min. It’s the most fun I have ever had working out...and I’ve never said those words in my life
