  1. Hi all. Just wanted to share if you have never heard of it. 9 round is an awesome workout! Both my wife and I have been doing this for 5 months. I can see the results physically and now translating to the range. I’m getting faster. I can squat into low ports with ease. My core is the strongest it’s ever been and I can see it helping with awkaward shooting positions etc. If you have one in your area I highly encourage you to check it out!
  2. Ran my first batch of 9mm brass through a wet tumbler with stainless pins (after a decade plus of using corncob media). Um yeah I’m liking the switch! Still need to work some bugs out in the rinse process to stream line that part but man I love that shiny brass!
  3. Some of your video of Max Michel was from the AL sectional I worked at Dothan Gun Club I got to see him and a few other top dogs shoot in person. Your video was awesome!
  4. No code the items on sale are listed on the site and applied already. But I just saw stoeger is doing 15% on mbx mags
  5. The Black Friday emails are staring to roll in...I see MBX is doing 10%
  6. Taran tactical has some killer deals right now....25% off accessories and 15% of firearms and gunsmithing. Decisions decisions
  7. Used only AA#7 so far...works great so haven’t found a reason to change it. 124 gr with 9.6gr of powder makes 174 and the comp is happy. I did start with lead and it was too much hassle to clean the comp so I switched to jacketed...much easier to maintain.
  8. Got mine two years ago with a promo code for the Black Friday/cyber Monday deals from double alpha...if I recall I saved almost $100 on that. Hopefully this thread gets hot with posts for savings on things like that around that time frame.
  9. Free shipping at powder valley for Veterans Day if you spend over a $100
  10. I can never have enough magazines. Love the MBX as they always run with no issues. I add one or two at a time by waiting till they have a sale or find a deal on here for a used one. 2 is 1 and 1 is none ?
  11. With the upcoming holidays I’m sure there are plenty of folks looking to take advantage of deals offered by our favorite vendors. For me personally this is the time of year I’m hoping to stock up on needed things for the hobby like bullets, powder primers etc as well as splurge on extras like magainsine, holsters, etc. Anyways I was hoping to create a 1 stop shop thread for us to share any promo codes/deals that folks come across during the holiday season. Not sure the forum legality to post about different vendors and their holiday sales so fingers crossed it’s not an issue. Looking forward to scoring and sharing some sweet deals.
  12. All good info. I certainly can believe that open hides and laxes some fundamental skills now. Got some practice in with the open gun today and shot like a boss for the most part considering my last outing was the fore mentioned train wreck with irons. As I want to compete in open I will mainly focus on that but will now be sure to shoot my irons occasionally to keep somewhat proficient with those as well. Thanks again guys
  13. So I am I still pretty new to open and I did take about a year off of shooting due to work so not sure if what I’m about to say is more dot related or more time off related or even something else. So more back story I’m about 4 months back into shooting and been crushing it per say with the new open gun...still learning and getting comfortable of course. But after taking a year off where I left off shooting limited A class I jumped back in and am very competitive in open B class and expect to get back to A sooner than later with that. All that being said I recently shot a law enforcement fund raiser match with a Glock 34. The stages were all stand and deliver with a heavy focus on accuracy with small targets, I also havnt shot a match with a Glock in years. I was pretty disappointed at my performance given what I can do with an open gun and it was a humbling experience going to war with some of these little targets. Even though I shoot open now I have occasionally picked up my carry gun or messed with my wife’s gun with sights and shot a few rounds but shooting such precision with iron sights seemed super foreign to me this match. Im wondering if years of shooting Lim and now open with the major scoring has allowed me to get so sloppy as USPSA is speed vs acceptable accuracy. Or wondering if using a dot is making my iron site skills go down the toilet. I recall hearing some folks say shooting open makes finding the front site easier with irons or something to that effect. So curious to hear what other open shooters have to say about dot vs sights skills etc. If one had unlimited time and ammo I suppose you could master both but that obviously isn’t practicable in the average joes case. Any thoughts/guidance is appreciated.
  14. I think it’s settled. I shall hold onto my other division guns/gear for the time being. Always kinda been that way anyways and typically didn’t sell off stuff unless I was looking to upgrade somewhere else. Just wasn’t so sure with the competition oriented stuff and my wife has been the pitching the idea...now I can tell here I have had an informed conversation with the forum gurus and suggest otherwise ?
  15. Any of you guys ever shoot other divisions again once you made the plunge to open? Having so much fun I can’t imagine ever wanting to shoot another gun ?
  16. So I have gone from production to limited to open over the years. My wife has gone from limited minor to major and will be switching to carry optics soon. I still have my production guns, Lim guns etc. I’ve always been one to hold onto guns and gear unless I have zero use for them but my wife thinks i should consider letting some go...not to mention I’m a 2 is 1 and 1 is none kind of guy so I have 2 of everything. I say I should hold onto them cuz you never know if years down the road we want to switch back to something. Anyways I’m just curious to what some of you that have been in the game much longer and have probably wrestled with this same conundrum have done.
  17. I decided to sell a bunch of stuff to fund another open gun. A few guns I don’t shoot and a ton of small items that were collecting dust. Even had a yard sale. Took me 3 months to gather up the cash. I was surprised at what I had laying around to sell when I really got after it.
  18. MBX right out of the package have run flawless in my Lim & Open guns...never tuned or tweaked them
  19. Didn’t know they made a reduced weight mag release spring...ordered one up to give that a try too
  20. Any issues with aluminum vs plastic? I see they say it won’t tear up magazines but metal vs plastic...metal wins...thoughts on this?
  21. Wife shoots a gen 4 Glock 35..it’s the Taran Tac combat master gun...the thing is pretty slick. Anyways she is not happy with the factory extended mag release as it’s hard for her to get it to release the mag sometimes...I messed with it yesterday and sometimes it gave me trouble too. I said no problem I’ll get a little longer mag release for you. Did some looking and obviously there is a bunch of options. So I figured I’d check here first for some opinions of what guys are running for extended mag releases on your competition guns. Thanks
  22. I use AR comp for 5.56. Off the top of my head it’s like 22 grains but I don’t remember the bullet weight. Anyways runs good for me for plinking etc
  23. A lot of solid info and advise. Bought some fresh red lock tite. But I already put it back together with the old lock tite....this time I used break cleaner to clean everything first. Will see how it holds up to this weekends shooting before I go after it again
  24. Thanks for the info and quick reply guys. I used some break clean today when I put them all back in. Gonna get some new red...if those little suckers come loose again I’ll clean them up extra good, toss on some fresh red and “bed” that gogo pedal with some red too. I’ll get these dam things under control some way some how ?
