  1. And this is exactly what happened. I had to get last shot then the competitor had that 'holy cr@p' moment and here I was in a full over the shoulder hug. If he was a pistol shooter I'd have been two steps back holding the timer full extension. ...waiting for the Ah Ha, Oh No moment. It all worked out but as RO running a PCC competitor on some, not all, stages where you have to be at the end of the COF can sometimes be a double edge sword.
  2. I've been an RO for 6 months so bear with me. I just finished RO approximately 150 shooters the past two days as static RO in a level 2 match. I get the draw to PCC in USPSA and have no problem with the division. But I have a question though. Is there any way we, as a collective, can make all PCC regardless of make/model/mfgr loud enough to set the timer off without the RO being in the shooters right pocket? I find myself with a long barrel PCC getting the timer forward of the shooters shoulder so itll pick up. Now I know theres a sensitivity setting on the timer....and the pitfalls of raising or lowering that setting. I also know that as an RO (Newish) when I'm running a PCC im more focused on whether the timer is picking up shots and has/will pick up the last shot than what is Supposed to be the RO job. Which is watching shooter gun handling, hard cover strikes, foot faults and whether or not the shooter has engaged every target. The PCC shooter would , I'm sure like an accurate measurement of his/her time. Nobody wants an upset shooter or reshoot if it can be avoided. The only way I can see to make this happen is an equipment change/requirement. There has to be a muzzle device for PCC that will competently run a timer set on Production Pistol setting. ????????? Like I've said..I have no axe to grind with PCC. My concern is with RO Focus. Which, in my opinion, should be with the shooters gun handling and COF and not so focused on getting the Time. OR Maybe its just me.
  3. I've never had much luck with a single stack 9mm in either IDPA or USPSA and I have tried every magazine mfg available, tried every length, weight ammo and never fail to have a serious live round jam in a couple stages each match. Dan Wesson PM9 I gave up....bought a 40, never looked back.
  4. So,......... before the Match there was no RO all stage Walk Through?
  5. Yes repeatability is an issue but steel is a great challenge.....for most of us its fun as heck. RO'd a match yesterday one stage had 4 forward falling steel one of which was set pretty heavy and would fall but it took a second. There was a second popper behind them. After it was shot successfully twice (two shooters in) I adjusted that popper and got slack from the peanut gallery. "Hey, we want reshoots." Ahhh, Nope. Steel..... is going to be steel. Peanut Gallery gonna be full of Peanuts. If they get too rambunctious....try and hand them the Timer. They want NO part of that.
  6. IIRC you also have to ask before paper scoring or seeing the time. Ill see if I can find the rule. I cant find it... Maybe thats an Interference (bump/contact) by RO reshoot rule? Edit: Yeah thats an RO interference rule. Sorry
  7. Well, right after I started USPSA I got chewed out for NOT calling for calibration by a veteran shooter. I just hosed a steel stage...better than I ever thought I could at the time and didn't want to re-shoot it. He said I was screwing the next shooter by NOT calling for calibration. I took the Mike....no reshoot.
  8. I keep moving mine....cant seem to find a place where during the COF I can find it. I had it up front where everyone does. Right now Ive got it at 9oclock thinking I'd be more apt to draw it from a normal mag position. I shoot SS during the off season so its normal for me to keep pulling mags from that direction. Im also trying to practice this position by using the magnet during ULSC. It works during dry fire...hasnt transfered to match yet....but I've only shot two Limited matches since the change. BTW I realize the mag at 9 oclock is further away than Noon but...If during COF Im actually fumbling around looking for the sucker ? How much time is that taking
  9. I was close enough to hear a squib during a stage yesterday. Now as a new RO ill know what they actually sound like. ...Its an odd sound.
  10. Most shooters step forward and draw simultaneously.... Rule reads significant advantage.
  11. 10.2.1.2 I also would say that IF the shooter has advantage when he shoots from behind the shooting area even if his step is forward will be one shot per. EG: If the target arrays are better seen from behind the shooting area... It all depends on IF the shooter has an advantage by shooting from the out of Shooting Area position.
  12. If you're stepping forward into the shooting area closer to the targets then it would be only one procedural. There's no competitive advantage by the shooter if he chooses to shoot from a position that is further away from the array.
  13. HA! HA! HA! Yes you have....and I knew it was Illegal, BUT I didn't want to be that GUY! We only had 4 smallish stages and 1hr 15 minutes of light. I was trying to make do, and still try and game the stage without the last 1 rd mag swap. I knew the rule....but couldn't for the life of me find it .
  14. Thanks Chuck. Btw the Competitor was me. I was wanting one more round in a stage tonight. Couldn't find the rule. Was torn between thinking it was a procedural or a bump . If it was just a procedural ...I was trying to figure if the 10 point deduction was worth the one round. In the end ...I didn't load the round...I did the mag swap. But I like to know where these rules are. Especially when I need them. Thank You again.
  15. I'm a new RO. January 2019 Where in the rule book does it state that a Single Stack competitor will be bumped to Open if he pulls a mag from the front pocket or has too many rounds in his second magazine? I've gone through the rule book more than three times tonight and still cant find the "Rule" Or is it an unwritten rule that he no longer fits criteria for Single Stack?
  16. Yeah some, not all, level 2 and above I've seen are posted on a grid that 1 square =1yard. Not that hard to set up for club match practice. Pretty hard to set up all 12, 16 or 18 for a club match though. Also.... I Always get a better score when I have to re-shoot a stage...
  17. You're going to want to pass the first try. I sat and took my test the day after Carls Class. It took me 281 minutes. One short break where I cooked dinner. The thought of doing the test over......
  18. Pay very close attention to how the answer is inputed. An errant space or period between Eg: Appendix D3 and the line where you find the answer will result in a wrong answer. The computer cannot tell the difference between a completely wrong answer and a completely right answer that is spaced incorrectly. The rules on exactly how to enter your answer are at the beginning of the test.
  19. It's No skin off anyones keister to leave SS exactly the way it is....... I shoot SS Major in the Off Season instead of Limited. It Challenges me, makes the Game more complicated, I need more focus.....for me. And for some of us that don't hunt for HOA...find it fun and attractive. I also get a charge out of coming close to or finishing ahead of my Limited competition.
  20. Scary truth..... Wa. State included. https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/12/politics/gun-control-high-capacity-gun-magazine-ban-bill/index.html
  21. Not any more.... The test is given on line. After you are finished you submit the test to AWSA directly. In 2 seconds you get your score after you hit Submit. I took mine Jan 21st 2019.
  22. Actually its whats right with the sport. Now that we have the GREEN rule book a conversation on a site like BE that is frequented by the people from USPSA that write/make the rules will give them feedback on whats really happening at Matches since the rule changes. This in turn will hopefully let them make subtle changes to the GREEN book wording that will clarify issues. Or so I was told.
  23. Just finished putting a new Evo PT on my older Briley ...STI frame. The sucker wouldnt go all the way on. Come to find out...the front lug for the teeny bolt was bottoming in the receiver grove of the PT grip. The PT has a V notch and the STI frames front lug is square. I also had to take a bit off the angles next to the front trigger guard. IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH. The grip slides on the frame at an angle. Go slow and remove material from the grip...its the cheaper part.

    Short funny jokes

A Bear and a Rabbit were going potty in the woods. Bear looks at the Rabbit and says "Hey, you ever have a problem with poop sticking to your fur?" Rabbit says "Nope" Bear then uses Rabbit to wipe.........
  25. Thanks all, Id like to say it was training that kept me from stupid s#!t but I'm pretty sure fear had a big hand in taking one for the team. Pistol was set up by a great NW Gunsmith as well. 2 lb trigger...jolt when I fell could have set off a lesser mans prepped 1911. Thank You, JPL.
