  1. The benefit of the L10 is it accommodates varying brass thicknesses, which the Everglades does not. I also have the Everglades and it does work but there are times I wonder how beneficial it is as I use mixed brass for pretty much all my pistol loading. I haven't run into any issues, but like you before spending the coin the L10 piece would like to hear some feedback, as it is a bit spendy especially if you get some for multiple toolheads.
  2. Clutch not slipping, just doesn't run unless I help it along. OK great, I will T/S a bit still and call Dillon next week.
  3. I've still got the Dillon 2 (or 3) models back... Thing is just rock solid I always check against beam and/or 1500 at the beginning of a session and it's always spot on. Honestly to me newer is not always better, newer in electronics typically means making/finding it cheaper and cheaper offshore, so unless something's wrong with the old one I would suggest just sticking with it.
  4. Anyone have a good number on how many 45ACP cases the Dillon 1050 CF should handle without bogging down? It seems like if I put in more than 100 or so it won't run, I have to "help" the plate along with my finger until the number or cases drops down to a lighter load. I don't have an exact number, I'll do some testing before calling Dillon, but I have no issues 9mm or 10mm cases, which of course are lighter.
  5. Yep same here, cheap lee C-press and Hornady puller. I tried the RCBS collet puller originally (pictured) but have better results from the Hornady. Also subscribe to the 100 round pull theory as well.
  6. You need to be sure you are using the large powder bar... it varies slightly due to variations in powder density and shape, but the small bar is usually good up to around 23-24, large bar takes over from there and provides up to ~45-50, and above that you jump to the Magnum size bar. The small bar is actually two pieces pinned together, the large and magnum bars are solid 1 pc. bars. The PM should have come with both sm and lg bars, I believe the Magnum is an extra purchase.
  7. IIRC correctly its 18 clicks per 360*, or 20* per click. On the small powder bar it's multiple clicks per gr, of course it varies by powder.
  8. Since the Dillon Powder Hoppers have the inverted V already molded in, what benefit does the Powder Baffle provide? I use the DA Click adjustable Knob on my PM's - repeatable and easy to dial in known loads. No need to make charts or fiddle with spring clips or loose bolts, etc - although I know plenty of people use the Uniquetek and are happy with it.
  9. Also, older Clays (Australian) is hotter than current Clays (Canada) - so, as other have mentioned, just work up you loads. With older Australian Clays, 3.5g under a LSW 185 is a popular Bullesye load.
  10. Nope, I missed that - saw it when researching afterwards - so will try it this weekend :).
  11. Looks good, I never considered putting it on the right side of the press :). I like the stands also - I don't have the depth of your bench though :).
  12. Used the LabRadar some more this weekend with no issues. I was even able to try it indoors, and it had no problem picking up shots. I was *not* able to pickup shots from my suppressed MK12, which is to be expected, as LR sells a microphone kit and suggests it for suppressed rifles, but I though I had read some were able to get to working without the extra mic. I tried multiple locations, ie ahead, even, slightly behind, etc but no joy. Maybe it requires a level sensitivity change...
  13. I found the battery pack, so will use it this weekend. I also don't think the batteries were low anyway, as the indicator showed half full, and i found the unit was powered on the next day when I pulled it out of the bag, so it power button got depressed at one point while it was in the storage bag. So will have to watch out for that. Re the ARM and SS settings, they are the same as session one, in which I had no issues at all. I suspect the errors were due to the short range, as I also have several "failure to acquire" errors as well. I'll make sure to get on a longer range this weekend, plus will be testing rifle and suppressed rifle as well. I'll report back after the next session.
  14. Why the Lee die vs the Dillon Swage/Backup expander and Powder Funnel setup, out of curiousity? I've loaded thousands of ACME coated on my 1050 and have had no issues using the standard Dillon dies on a 1050. As already mentioned, belling is the critical step when using coated.
  15. Yeah first time out had no issues, but was on same batteries this time out out, so they were low. I'll be using it more this weekend and report back. Plus getting on a proper length range - manual states 15 yards minimum, and I was on the 10 yard range since all the other bay were taken - last week I was on the 25 yard bay. I'll be doing some rifle work this upcoming weekend as well.
  16. Had some issues today with it randomly powering off... battery meter showed about 1/2 power avail (at least that's what I though it was showing me) but seemed like it would shut off after every few shots.. plus towards the ends I started getting FPS swings of about 300-400 fps for same load (I was on a short range, which may have been related, I know it like to have at least 15 yards but the range was full today. Maybe also due to low battery, not sure. I have the battery pack, but have put it somewhere and can't find it so was running off of eneloop rechargeables. Guess I need to find that darn battery pack.
  17. For those with purchasing accounts/discount. My account didn't show any discount, but larger accounts might... Plus Edge Benefits for those who are members.
  18. Abit, seems we are the only ones interested in these lol... Here's some pics of the finalized install... Just a 3/4" flange, bolted in with #14 wood screws, 36" pipe. Pretty solid setup. Might raise up the collator a smidge, but otherwise everything runs great.
  19. I checked out the FB page and the Store URL... no Dillon product listed. So you have to call to order Dillon it appears?
  20. For me the PW I really only use for processing brass. When loading I pull the handle. I know there are folks that use the PW to load, but it just doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy like a M7 would. But, for 1/4 of the cost or less...it is what it is. They guy I bought it from used it to load ammo, so it can be done. I could prob load 45 and feel ok about it, in fact I did set it up, but kept getting inconsistent primer depth, got tired of fiddling with it, so moved back to pulling the handle.
  21. Lol good analogy... I tried to use them as BE recommended them after closing up his Dillon sales, but mainly use Dillon or Graf's or Extreme Reloading. I'll check out Bobcat as well.
  22. I use LG/1050 sized Dillon bins on shelves, and .30 cal cans for overflow.
  23. Yeah, I always though the hang-it-off-the-CF was kinda kludgy, so I am pleased with this setup. Rick also mentioned he was working on a dropper/seater combo die, for those that want the powder check back - so would allow powder check, then drop/seat, then separate crimp die.
  24. Interesting, thanks for posting. By measurement, he's basically seeing same FPS loss old vs new as I was, factoring in he is shooting plated and I was shooting coated. The "by Volume" bits were interesting - the numbers definitely jump up with new Clays using volume vs weight and appears new clays is denser than old clays. Prob stick to BE for 200 Coated LSWC, and WST for 230's... Might try New Clays in 44Mag Range loads under 240 LSWC's.
  25. Yep, as Sarge and Dillon both advised - coated requires more bell for sure than jackets or plated. I typically start at .020 for coated and tweak a bit from there. If you are used to belling for jackets, coated bell will look like way too much until you get used to it :). At this point I"m really only loading Jacketed JHP for 10mm anyway, everything else (including range 10mm) I've pretty much gone to coated. Just received an 8K order from ACME, in fact. I have a few boxes of xtreeme 45acp plated left, but once those are gone I don't expect to order anything except coated, lead for my 44's, or JHP's.
