cool i will definately try getting some loads from some buddies out ere for 9 major and see if i can run em throuhg my gun. i know my rusty kidd viper has issues with non major pf and i have never ran any 9 through the brazos. i am enjoying all the feedback thanks everyone.

i think because i have been trying to shoot a lot of L2 and L3 matches which generally are lost brass i have just been getting sad. especially with berrys steel open, area 1 and area 2 all coming along within the same 2 months. just had to order some brass for them and it was a sad moment for me. but the erection i get shooting open is too great to not shoot it. i think i just wanted to hear it from a group of somewhat respectable peers thanks guys for the responses and info

thanks guys. lots of good replies and info. i was leaning towords dont do it. but wanted to see what people thought. seems like i will probably just stick with the 38 sc. i have always debated the topic with myself or just even the loading minor in my sc.

so i have 2 open guns. both are 38 SC. i dry fire a little but would really prefer to shoot at the range. but i am too poor for that. i may have a friend that wants to trade his 9 for my sc, so i am taking this in as a possibility. i would be trading for the fact that i could have a gun to practice with that isnt as expensive to shoot, but am worried it might be less beneficiary to me in the long run switching to a diff shooting gun then i am shooting (9mm minor loads for practice and 38 sc Major for matches) what do you guys think? thanks for the input and merry christmas everyone

thanks i really want black though so hoping to fidn somehting that coats barrels black nicely. Wish black nitride was good enough... also my friends new neighbor owns robar...any thoughts.

yeah if you could elaborate on the cerakote warning that would be cool. cost and material are not an issue too much. also what would you recommend. thanks

hey guys, i am sure this has been covered but i was unable to dig it up in my search. i have a brazos BCG open blaster. i got it coated (grip,frame,slide, small parts) and i just want to get the barrel done now. the rest of gun is in cerakote, but did not know if cerakote would be a good choice for a barrel in an open gun. i dont want the barrel to be gone for a long long time as this is my only open gun but if i have to wait i will. How do you guys feel about cerakote finish on a barrel? BNi? i know there are many others so any input would help. or link to a thread already started about this. thanks

CFE. Is it temperature sensitive for 9mm 147gr reloads?

im a little late to this. i am in AZ, but i load cfe into berrys 124 double plated bullets in my open gun and notice i lose average about 4-5 PF when shooting in areas such as salt lake when it is colder out there -

Sounds good. I ordered a set and hoping for the 6inch slide that they had told me about since it was not posted on the site. So hopefully it all turns out well. I shall keep an update going on the 3 year time period it takes to build

So I was looking at sacred defense Kits, Frame and slide, and was wondering if anyone had experience with them. I figure 650 for the lot and part together something as I get stuff. Haha. Thanks for input.

Hey guys. Hoping for a quick response. I am having trouble finding a lot of info on the sti tactical 5.0 ss tr I have an opportunity to pick one up local for 1300. Comes with 5 mags a leather holster and following work done to it dehorned frame.. match competition sti trigger polish feed ramp. polish internal slide. competition guide rod competition internals.. trijicon heine night sights. level one reverse crown .. What u guys think? Should I ask anything specific to the build? I may shoot it in ss a lil but kind of want a full length dust cover 1911. Thanks again. I am looking into a 3.5-10x50 viper with warne ramp mount for 350$ I can easily hit 25 yds with my canted sights. Is the 3.5 too much magnification? I want something to make the farther targets butter.thanks
