  1. Thanks for the aftec info. I don't do the install on extractor or tune them because my open gun was so annoying after being Black nitride coated (previous owner)
  2. Thanks guys. I was hoping aftec would and b the answer haha.
  3. Hey guys, back with more problems. This time on my sti eagle 9mm 5". I got the gun used from a guy here in az. Off backpage and innovative longer have his number. But the only issue it had when I got it was it needed a new sear spring. Gun ran fine after that was replaced. Let a buddy borrow it for a few 3 gun and pistol matches and the extractor starts taking a dump. Replaced the extractor with a spare Ed brown I had laying around (new) and had it fitted at a reputable shop local to me. Shot 200 Rds at the range and no FTE. Ran perfect. Took it to soco3gun and it ran great first day. Day 2, it was a paperweight. Out of maybe 60 Rds shot through her, prob had 13 FTE. So finally the issue. It will shoot the round that is initially chambered.but will not extract that round out of barrel. Slide goes back, returns forward, and the next round gets stuck on feed ramp due to the barrel being plagued by previous spent case. If I load a mag and manually rack slide (mbx mags) every round extracts normal. If I chamber one and drop mag and rack it it extracts and drops round. I use a 9lb recoil spring, my loads are 1.115 oal, berry 124 gn fn plated, cci 500 pistol primers. I believe it is all stick besides that. I have heard try a diff spring. Heavier. So I ordered a couple and waiting for then to get here. Just figure I would try to get ahead of the issue. Thanks again. Jon
  4. So I m thinking a change in scenery is in order. I live in Phoenix now and want to move somewhere with an abundance of uspsa /3 gun matches like we have. Just not Texas. Any hints suggestions..thanks people
  5. I have had a Smith look at it again and he has messed with the feed ramp and extractor. I shot 100 rounds limp writing and super griping with zero malfunctions. Shot a match and had 1 or 2 malfunctions per stage. But it went farther into battery then before and happened less so it's mo betta haha. The Smith had to leave to shoot the infinity open so he told me to take out the forward spring I. Extractor and see how that goes. I will update when I shoot tomorrow. I have used tuned sti mags and mbx mags. The mbx mags are all new and the sti mags have all grahams internals and pads within the past 3 months . Going to try a diff tuned sti mag tomorrow as well. I don't think it's an OAL issue as I have changed it up and down to no avail.
  6. I have tried to change spring to 9&10. The mags came with the gun. Ran it for a while then had them retuned with all thr grahams parts. Then bought mbx mags
  7. Yes. It just stays out of battery pushed up against the next round in mag. Most of time no movement.a nd I have been up and down the map with oal and have had 5 different people tell me diff oals
  8. I did the same thing when I put the *thumb rest [generic]* on. Gunsmith filed em down but I am gonna take it off and see if any better. Thanks for a also it happens random. I can download the mag to 2-3 less then full. Still happens second shot tenth or 20th
  9. Hey guys. I recently acquired a rusty Kidd viper in trade. I can't get it to run for the life of me. Have had a Smith look at it and change some stuff. Including 38 super to sc. So here lies my problem. It will sometimes run perfectly. Sometimes have a ftf in a stage. And sometimes shoot bolt action for a full 32 rd stage. The gun will shoot chambered round. Eject the brass and the slide will stop as soon as it hits the next round. Sometimes a little movement past there but not often. I keep the gun clean and lubed. I use mbxmags or sti mags with grahams everything. The sti mags have been tuned. The ammo used has changed a lot to try and see what will work. But nothing has thus far. I use berry's Flat nose hollow base plated bullets. Cci magnum small pistol primers. Starline sc brass, and CFE pistol. It averages at about 170 pf using 7.6 gn and oal of 1.225. I have gone down. To 1.118-1.250 and recently upped the grain to 8 to see if it would help but it didn't and my chrono battery was dead upon arrival at range. Supposedly the gun ran fine before i had it. But not since then. I have had the trigger and hammer cerakoted. And also switched to an enos flat bottom trigger. Which is only thingIs have changed. 8 lb spring. Beautiful fun accurate gun, when it works. If anyone can help me out I will b forever in debt. Thanks -jon
  10. Ibhave been debating this with myself for a while. Since I started shooting open I have noticed my finger wil find its way there every so often, just because of where my *thumb rest [generic]* indexes it to. But on my limited guns it is in the "normal" position. I need to go put it on a timer and see. But enjoying this thread
  11. I started in limited with my 34 and loved it and never thought about seriously going to open. Then a local uspsa gm in open and limited let me play with his tim greaves custom open gun and I had an open in two days. It's just so much more fun to hear steel fall every time u pull the trigger. Be careful if u shoot an open gun, like many said, the dark side will get u
  12. Went ahead and got the 650. Love it so far. Got it from a local guy that's getting out of loading. I just finished setting it up yesterday and started to load today. Cant wait for the inline fabrication kit.... Loaded 20 rounds at two diff weights to see reliability and they went great. Tomorrow getting a chrono from a friend and gonna play some more. Thanks everyone for all the help. Now I get to play with diff powders.
  13. ya i hava a lot of buddies i shoot with that load and all offered a helping hand. i got a chance to play on a couple and test em out. the only thing is they are biased to their machines and in here no one will get mad if i dont buy the machine they recommend. again appreciate all the help and advice
  14. so found a 650 local all set up with a bunch of stuff. going to go with that. no MBF though with it. is the mini mbf a good option to start with or should i not waste my time and money and just go MBF
  15. beer baron thanks a lot! that is one of the things i was hoping someone would post. awesome info. thanks everyone. pretty sure it seems general concensus is a 650 and accessories and a 1050 later if needed. cant wait to get going. i will update when i have everything. in the mean time, all other input suggestions and whatever else you have is greatly aprecciated. cheers and merry christmas
  16. thanks everyone i appreciate the info and help
  17. Actually, the SDB, 550 and 650 have the Warranty, but the 1050 doesn't. one of the advantages of being local is i hear they are a lil nicer when u show up with it
