38SC feeds better, doesn't jam! This is Fake News!!! I will say I do think SC is a little flatter and softer, but I don't buy all this other stuff. I shot open for 2 years both of my guns were 9 Major and I had jams two times in 2 years and both times it was my fault for not changing mag springs, I let the springs go longer than I should have. Both of my guns were cleaned after each match and new springs a couple times a year. I personally don't care what anyone else shoots but I keep hearing a lot of bad information about what 9 major can't do like run reliably.
I agree totally. Some people try to justify their stance on what they chose. My 9mm is 100% so far for over 3k rounds in that last 4 weeks. I have a 38SC gun as well and actually like the more snappy impulse of my 9mm. To each his own and go out and have fun.

Shot a match yesterday in the 30’s and then low 40’s. The first stage the PT grip was cold but fine after that. Plenty of grip no matter what. Use a hand warmer inside for more warmth

I usually start with 170 and have (2) 140 and (1) 170 on belt. Don’t feel the weight at all once the buzzer goes off. I will be trying out two 155 and see how that goes

This is absolutely HILARIOUS! If only people knew the story....
Ouch. Atlas for the “win” on that one

Nice!

Did this thread die just like that? I want to order a 510c for my open gun and either the Limcat or Tevo single sided mount. Anyone else using one?

I had a bad problem years ago when shooting IDPA with a Gans 2011. Didn't matter how hard I gripped it or how much I adjusted my grip it just happened and during matches it SUCKED. My hand has a pretty big open void or hole area right where the safety engages. Friends with much meatier hands had no issues with my gun. To keep things legal and due to frustration I went to a PM9 and didn't look back. The problem is real

I don't think you can go wrong with either. As someone who has chased platforms in the past I would say get one of them and shoot it ALOT.

WD40 works well but make sure you wipe off any residue with a proper cloth.

I am shooting 750+ rounds per week in live fire practice and it’s all the same load as my match load. At about 3k in with this open gun I’m starting to see the different dot tracking with HS6 versus N340 versus Silhouette etc. My gun will shoot minor loads but is a totally different feel
-
This gun will take you from a D shooter to M in exactly 2.5 matches. And also will be at barbecues all over the country. I’m sure it’s ok but you can spend way less and then buy ammo and still be on top without the shiny hype.

Yes. Great gun. If you can get one with the larger roll mark on the side it’s a better value as they made them better then.

On Fridays I go to the club where I am a member and take a whole large bay to myself and set up all kinds of drills. 750+ rounds per week of Major and a couple hundred Minor. This has helped tremendously! I usually get to two to three indoor matches a month and one larger outdoor.

I used to search for soft and flat and thought that was what I needed. No I think in terms of impulse and return to zero and load for that.

I’m getting so tired of tumbling loaded ammo to get the Dillon lube off. Ordering some of this stuff today and going to try it. If you all say no sticky residue and no need to tumble after it sounds great already.

T1-T3 is up to your interpretation and you can shoot them however you want.

Here it is. Well worth the wait!
Wowzer!

The little hip jiggle after "standby" was funny. Clean up the reload and stay in shooting position the whole time. These area all areas I am working on as well and trying to minimize any extra movement.

Go for it! I would.

Hello: Don't put any holes in the barrel. Try a 8 or 9lb ISMI recoil spring with a 17lb ISMI main spring. I would also try some 115's to see if you like them more. I would try HS-6 as well since you have it. I would shoot it for at least 10,000 rounds before you do anything to see what you like and what you would like to see different. Thanks, Eric
@Aircooled6racer Eric, why do you say not to put any holes in the barrel? I’m curious as my gun has two holes and my second matching gun does not have any yet. My main gun is amazing as is and I need to decide if I’m going to make the back up to match in that way.

Thumb rest on open guns, experiences....
in Open Pistols

Last Friday I shot an open gun for the first time WITHOUT a thumb rest and was pleasantly surprised by how it was like that. That being said I do like to have one to help establish my point of grip faster and will stick with what I have but it was quite interesting to try without one.
